A great example of a matching pair of up and over doors fitted in the greater Belfast Area last week.

Our customer didn't want the added hassle of moving the position of the doors to fit a roller door so we have fitted the latest up and over doors in the Anthracite Grey finish.

These doors come with a colour coded steel frame to match the door panel and minimise the clearence between the door and the frame.

The factory finish in Anthracite grey also means there is no need to paint the doors. Simply clean and maintain the surface as always.

We have spent most of today working on this beautiful house in the Lisburn area.

Our customer wanted the old windows, trim and door removed completely.

We stripped the frame back to the bare structure and began to build it to suit the new door specifications.
This saves major disruption to the opening and takes away the need for any plaster or pvc remedial work after our installation.

Finally we fitted our 10 year warranty, Insulated sectional door with 40mm insulation and liftmaster operating system.

The Rosewood finish compliments the fantastic features this home already has to offer and we are over the moon with the end result.

Our insulated sectional doors offer a 10 year manufacturers warranty with a 5 year warranty on the liftmaster operating system as standard.

On this job the existing garage door frame was in great condition. To save a huge amount of hassle and cost for our customer we were able to order the door to fit the existing frame and remove the need for PVC or plastering after the garage door installation.

The medium Ribbed panel is fully finished in black removing the need to paint the finish on a regular basis.

After a long delay in the availability of black finished, steel up and over doors we are finally receiving orders and getting long awaited doors fitted for our customers.

This week we fitted some beautiful designs that really finished the look that our customers were trying to achieve.

A real mixture of work required this week. We fitted new steel frames, replaced timber frames when required and kept existing timber frames when savings were possible.

Some garage styles do not allow for the traditional, rear fixing style insulated doors. It can cause lots of different issues.

The before and after pictures show a recent job in the Newtownabbey area that had a few problems to work around. We solved them by fitting a bespoke timber door surround for the new door to fit behind.

The timber is treated with a base coat and ready for either a finished paint or pvc cladding.

You can see the end product looks fantastic and worth the extra time and work to achieve the door that our customer wanted.

We were able to salvage the existing timber frame and windows, install a new, one piece panel with the laminated finish to match the existing fixtures.

Our customer today had an old insulated sectional door. Most of the mechanism on the door was worn and tired but the panels and running gear were all in good condition.

We completed our survey and ordered the specific springs to breathe life back into the lifting gear, new tension cables and our most up to date automatic system.

Needless to say the door is running as good as new and at well below the cost of replacing the entire door for a new one.

New up and over Garage Door!

We fitted this new up and over door in Bangor last week.

Our customer wanted to maintain the look of the original doors in the area.

We fitted a complete new timber frame and fitted laminated glass to finish the top section and maintain the natural light in the space.

The new timber frame was then treated and left ready for a final stain/paint in the customers choice of finish.

Our new door is fully finished in the factory black so need to paint there!

The team have been back working this week and doing our very best to catch up with all our loyal customers who have been waiting on us.

*****PHASED RETURN TO WORK*****

In line with the easing of restrictions across all sectors we are now in the position to plan a phased return to work.

Over the final few weeks in July we will be gradually returning to fit and repair garage doors for our customers on a limited basis.

Initially this period will be to prioritise as many of our customers as possible who have been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Our aim is to open our phone lines to further enquiries for future work from the first week in August.

We have been closed now for sometime and due to this we have a big back log of enquiries. We will be contacting as many as possible during our phased return.

Like many businesses we will be adapting our approach as we return and within government guidelines. We fully expect challenges along the way and ask our customers to be patient and work with us as much as possible.

Thank you to everyone who has been so understanding during this uncertain time. We hope to see you all soon.

***COVID-19 UPDATE***

Throughout the ongoing pandemic we have been reacting to government advice and the actions of our suppliers.

After reviewing the current situation we have made the difficult decision to keep our team on furlough with the intention of reviewing the situation again in the coming weeks.

We are still experiencing delays in our deliveries of new doors and restrictions on purchasing materials that are required for us to resume a full service.

At the moment a part time service is not a viable option. It may become an option soon and we can look into this again in the near future.

We are receiving more enquiries now each day and we apologise that we can not help at this moment in time.

Our phone lines are closed until we have an idea of when we can return.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to returning to normal business as soon as possible.

We hope all our customers are keeping safe and well during this time.

Enquiries are coming in by email and voicemail regarding when we will be returning to work. At the moment we do not have an answer for you unfortunately. There are indications that some production will resume in May but to what extent it is still unclear. When the suppliers are up and running we can follow immediately.

We felt it best to suspend our emergency call out service as this was still presenting a risk to everyone involved.

Tom Johnston garage doors will return as soon as it is safe to do so and in line with government recommendations. When we can make this call we will inform everyone via the page and website.

We have now had to take the decision to stop everyday work completely.

Working outside in your garage we have been able to continue working and practicing good social distancing procedures.

Unfortunately now the garage door suppliers are closed, deliveries have been postponed and materials are not available to carry out our work.

We would like to reassure all our customers, your orders and deposits are safe and secure.

Tom Johnston Garage Doors is a well established and mature company and although things are going to be difficult for a period of time we are in a positive position to continue work as normal once it is permitted again.

We will offer an emergency service to our elderly customers and those who depend on the garage door for essential access for mobility reasons etc.

A single member of our team will call out and resolve the issue with no contact what so ever.
