✨Friday Feature – Summer adventures along the Tweed ☀️
📍 Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Borders and crossing over to Northumberland, the River Tweed weaves its way through lush green valleys, historic landscapes, and picturesque towns.
Here’s why this iconic river is a must-visit during the warmer months:
😍 Natural Beauty: The Tweed stretches over 97 miles, from its source in the Southern Uplands near Moffat to where it meets the sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Along the way, it passes through charming towns and villages such as Peebles, Tweedsmuir, Galashiels, Coldstream, Melrose and Norham. The rolling hills create a stunning backdrop for your summer adventures.
🥾 Explore your way: Whether you are a keen walker, cyclist, horse rider or even a canoeing enthusiast, there are plenty of ways to travel along the Tweed! Why not try something new and embark on the GO Tweed Valley Canoe Trail, covering a 30-mile stretch of the river 🚣♂️ https://www.gotweedvalley.co.uk/tweed-valley-canoe-trail
🌦 Unexpected Weather: Scotland’s summers can surprise you with rain showers or cooler evenings. The River Tweed, however, offers an adventure for every weather with a warm and dry café, art gallery or historic site never far away! Try out the Wee Crook Cafe at Tweedsmuir where you’ll always get a warm welcome 👋
So grab your walking boots, your bike or canoe, and enjoy the River Tweed in bloom this Summer. Share your Tweed adventures using ! 📸✨

After many months of opening up the cafe only for community events and private bookings, the Wee Crook Cafe will be open to the general public.
We open in just one week and the next few days will see a flurry of activity from our amazing volunteers, as well as the new team, as they prepare to open the doors.
These are really exciting times for us and we can’t wait to welcome all of you to our beautiful cafe.
Ever been to a concert where they have fireworks at the end?
Well, Kirsty Law was sooo good, she laid on the Northern Lights 😂
What Kirsty did do was to entertain us, encourage us to tell stories about life in Tweedsmuir and then, as her parting gift, she produced a bottle of Tweed water which she had gathered from the source that morning.
Thank you Kirsty for a beautiful and thoughtful gift.
Good luck with the rest of Meander from Source to Sea.
We’re honoured to be the first stop on Kirsty Law’s Meander tour by Kirsty Law.
She will be walking the Tweed from Source to Sea over the next 3 weeks
Something's going on... why have the tables been moved and the settees turned around? 🤔🤷🏽♂️
The Wee Crook and Tweedsmuir welcomes careful drivers.
Or perhaps we need to make our car park larger? 😬
We just had to say thank you to everyone who made the Easter weekend so memorable for us.
With biscuit decorating, The Timorous Beasties, Kenneth Martin , the Sunday Service and the Easter Egg Hunt it really was a busy time for the Cafe.
Everyone did an amazing but a very special thank you has to go to Hazel, Grace and all the volunteers for keeping you all fed and watered.
What a fantastic weekend!
Still time to catch a final sweet treat before we close at 4.
All cakes half price after 3 😋
Not one but two musical nights this weekend and we’ve just had the pleasure of hosting our very own Kenny Martin.
Kenny introduced us to some of his favourite covers of Nick Cave, Joni Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright, Elton John and others..
Amazing interpretations of classic tunes.
Thanks Kenny ❤️, for loving music.
