A bit of history… schools never out On this day in 1996 Madras was renamed to Chennai. Chennai is know as the Detroit of India and is home to 11.8 Million people. The 5th largest city in India and 30th in the world We created a dish in 2011 and named it Chennai as it’s hot like a Madras. The heat is from liquified green chillies rather than chilli powder giving it a deep flavour. Using the green chillies also gives it a slightly smoother texture.
