194 Squadron - Air Cadets
194 (BSA and City of Birmingham) Squadron, based in Small Heath. Follow this page for updates on what our cadets get up to!
Yesterday 194 took part in the Annual Wing Competition Day. The cadets competed in activities ranging from drill to first aid to ensemble to space. It was the first time any of the cadets had competed at wing competition day and although we didn’t come away with any silverware I’m very proud of how well the cadets conducted themselves and how much effort they put into practicing over the past few months. A special thanks goes to Sgt Rauaf and CI Khanom for leading the preparation. We are already excited for next year and hope to bring back some trophies so watch this space!
- Plt Off Dixon
New officer commanding
194 (BSA & City of Birmingham) would like to announce the appointment of our new Commanding Officer Pilot Officer Gemma Dixon.
Pilot Officer Dixon started off as a cadet at 1084 (Market Harborough) Sqn followed by a stint at 1461 (Wigston) Sqn. Once settled in Birmingham post university she decided to become a CFAV at neighbouring squadron 485 (Harborne & Quinton). Here she has held various roles on the squadron and gained a wealth of experience. She also holds the role of Wing Music Officer and has a particular interest in shooting and fieldcraft.
In her own words “I want to thank Flight Lieutenant Rowan Coles and Flight Lieutenant Jamie Poxon for all they’ve done for 194 over the years.
I am excited to join 194 and work closely with the staff and cadets to grow and develop the squadron to deliver the best RAFAC experience we can. Thanks to the 194 staff and cadets for welcoming me into the post.”
Our next recruitment intake will be taking place in the coming weeks so if you are interested in becoming a cadet and aged between 12 (and in year 8 ) and 17. Or an adult over the age of 20 and want to support the squadron as a member of staff or Civilian Committee then please get in touch by emailing [email protected]
