Yesterday with the help of Pure Offices, Longbridge and Steph Phillips kindly providing the space, I was able to use my skills to raise money for Children’s hospital charity.I captured headshots for 10 business owners across the beautiful space of the offices and had such an incredible day. So looking forward to sharing the end results of the images.Thank you Steph for agreeing to support me with this cause. Just like everyone has New Year’s resolutions, I have birthday resolutions and look back upon the past year.This 43 year of my life (you read that right, I don’t look that old isn’t it 🙈😂) I would like ot give back. I was having an off day today, health tumbles over the last two years do get me time and again. Hence the only way to change my mood in the day was to create some visual content. I had flowers at my house and all the necessary equipment and then just as I was about to shoot, realised that I never charged my 3 batteries after returning back from the Iceland trip(my next shoot isn’t until next Wednesday, hence never needed to check there). But I was determined to go ahead, so I got my phone and then started creating this stop motion, I even got a phone call in the middle and by the time I finished answering the light had changed 🙈 but I still persevered. And as I finished creating this and then saving it, I must say I was so much in better mood, feeling ready for the evening and family time. This isn’t by any means my best piece of work as per my standards but this is what photography and visual content is to me, my drug and my happy place. So business owners I would like to know what your pick up thing is? What helps you change those meh days to good ones?

Starting your business is a mammoth step for anyone. To top it all, running and sustaining your business day to day is often the hardest part especially if you are a solo, small business owner who doesn’t have a team to lean up on. Last year when I decided to pursue my passion in photography by starting my own photography business, I did not know how challenging but yet how incredibly rewarding it will be. Over the course of the year, I have constantly pushed myself out of my comfort zone and so being a finalist in these awards mean a lot. Hey business owners, What are your resolutions for the New year? Why are they important to you? Mine are more about personal growth as I believe that personal growth leads to business growth.

Do you ever feel nervous speaking about yourself and what you do?
🙈Well that was me today. The nervousness was off the roof as the founder of the largest Asian group was there along with two brilliant content creators and videographers. All of a sudden I just got so nervous to speak up. 🫶🏻But then I reminded myself about how passionate I am about helping business owners improve their visibility through visual content and how far I have come along breaking barriers and stereotypes. That’s it and I spoke from my heart thereafter 🤩 Will post the video once it goes live in the forthcoming week.

From 👩‍🏫 teacher to Photographer 📸 Never in my wildest dreams did I think that this would be the path for me. I got my first ever camera in 2016 after my little one was born and I have been practising and learning photography as a hobby for the last 7 years. Going back to my younger self, raised in a traditional Indian family, getting a job and being employed along with state pension after retirement was classed as the gold standard hence being a teacher was fulfilling. I loved helping children achieve their best potential and make a difference to their lives day in and day out. Life was pretty much like clockwork, and working on WORK, EAT, SLEEP and REPEAT mode. Whilst I enjoyed being in the classroom with children, life outside school started being marred by the workload and slowly work life crept into family life. I didn't even realise when it was family life got completely kicked out and I was constantly catching loose ends. My health started crumbling and like a broken horse who cannot run the race and therefore becomes a liability, I started feeling the pressure of the school system. I was always strong to fight through but this time it was different. The body and mind were at totally different pages. I suffered from a massive panic attack whilst at work and froze in front of who knows how many people. I could hear voices in my head and was unable to differentiate between them. I was signed off for stress referred to occupational health for my health issues impacting my presence in school. This was the turning point for me. I decided that I want to live my life and not be a slave to my job and be at the mercy of organisational laws, policies and protocols. And above all, I want to make these years count. I want to be present for my boys and my family, be there for them. As I approach almost the 2 year mark since that decision was made, within this time; I have started my professional photography course with British Academy of photograp
