This is because alcohol is a vasodilator, which basically means that it causes the blood vessels to relax and widen. A wider blood vessel means that’s there is a higher chance that the small needles we use can enter or damage the the vessels, causing a small leak creating a pool of blood that shows in the form of a bruise. 🩸 Alcohol also thins the blood and makes the blood more difficult to clot. These contributing factors will increase the risk of bruising, swelling, bleeding and the likely chance that the bruise develops into a haematoma!!
