2 in 1 Trip on August 7th is CANCELLED. ❌

Unfortunately, with great regret, we have been informed by the coach company that the trip will not be able to go ahead. 🚌

Regards to lack of interest from Deaf community and also due to Commonwealth Games it is now near impossible to get another coach for that same date. 🎯 I do understand this is disappointing for you all. 😔

Due to the cancellation, I will keep you posted for future trips as a priority. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Also we want to make a humble request for you all to remember our sister Hasina who had lost her father on Wednesday after long battle of the lung cancer to the Lord. Also may الله سبحانه وتعالى make things easier for her and her family during this difficult time. 💔

Hope you are enjoying the sunshine this week, MashAllah! One Deaf female student from the University of Greenwich has contacted MDS and requested us to help her with the research project, see the information below.

"My name is Aisha Sadiq and I am a Deaf psychology student. I am writing to request participation from members of your organisation in an online survey that seeks to understand more fully, and thereby improve, the experience of South Asian Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals’ views on their experience with NHS services and mental health. I am carrying out the final project as part of my master’s degree in Psychology at the University of Greenwich. Can you help me with my research project?"

If yes, please click the link below to go to the online survey website (or copy and paste the link into your internet browser) and then begin the online survey. Here is the link: https://greenwichuniversity.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eCMGepyBFaYejxc.

The online survey is entitled ‘Tell us about your views on your experience with NHS services and mental health’ and consists of a series of short questions that are written in plain English, alongside a BSL version of each question, and will only take about 5 – 10 minutes to complete. Participation is anonymous, confidential and completely voluntary. The study has been reviewed and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Department of Psychology & Counselling, School of Health and Social Care, University of Greenwich.

Jazak’Allah Khairun for everyone who came to Deaf Coffee Morning on Thursday, that was successful and it was lovely to see everyone for the first time after the lockdown!

After receiving such feedback, we agreed to have that happening every two weeks and the next one please see the poster we are hoping to see you there, In’Shaa’Allah.

The café we went to on Thursday, was an amazing place plenty of light for everyone to see each other and plenty of space according to the social distancing and the staff was positive they are Deaf friendly.

Guess what? MDS are proud to bring Deaf Coffee Social back for the first time after the coronavirus lockdown! 😊☺

Sadly Cafe Blu has been closed down due to unfortunate circumstances. We have decided to move to Mauchak Street. 📌📍

Come and join us all to catch up on what we have been up to for over a year and enjoy the refreshments. ☕🍵🍽

After the coffee morning, we can enjoy an afternoon walk at Small Heath Park opposite the road depending on the weather. 🍁🍂🍃
