Last week, we launched our Customer Survey.

The survey is an opportunity to gain valuable insights into what you think about us.

By looking at the survey results, we'll identify areas for improvement and recognise what we do well and what could be better.

All customers will receive a text message or email with instructions on completing the survey and, once completed, will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a £200, £300, or £500 voucher!

We recently collaborated with Abernethy Flooring to support Mikeysline, a crucial mental health charity based in Inverness.

When HFD Scotland was asked to contribute to Mikeysline's new premises, the team didn’t hesitate to donate 100 square metres of carpet tiles. Abernethy Flooring expertly installed each tile, supported by other dedicated volunteers who supplied labour and materials like shelving and paint.

We're proud to back Mikeysline in their vital efforts to enhance mental health support and awareness. 💚

Big news from the Contract Flooring Journal Awards!

We have been nominated for eight awards, including the prestigious Distributor of the Year!

Our brands Domus, Gaas Flooring, Manx Tomkinson, Mercado, TLC/Richards, JHS, and Garrard Waters are also in the running for various awards across multiple categories.

These nominations recognise our commitment to flooring excellence.

The award ceremony is scheduled for September 6th, and we hope to celebrate these achievements with the industry’s best. 🏆🎉

Earlier this week, a team of budding bakers, led by Credit Control Manager Tania Hall, tested their baking skills at a charity afternoon tea, raising a fantastic £477.78 for Breast Cancer Now. Thanks to the Headlam Community Fund, this amount will be doubled, resulting in a donation of over £955.

This donation will help to advance world-class breast cancer research and provide life-changing support.

Our enthusiastic bakers also organised a raffle, and we’d like to extend a big thank you to the generous businesses that donated prizes:

Meet Jon Flannigan, Head of Product 👋🏼

Jon is the Head of Product at the Brands Business Unit in Tamworth. With a decade of expertise in the flooring industry, Jon brings a wealth of knowledge to our team.

Jon’s journey with Headlam started in 2021 as the Product and Innovation Manager for Residential Brands, where he spearheaded numerous innovative initiatives. In 2023, Jon transitioned to manage our Commercial Brands, further expanding his impact by steering product development in this sector.

Now, as the Head of Product, Jon oversees our entire product strategy and innovation pipeline. His innovative approach and industry knowledge have driven our product lines forward, ensuring we continue leading in quality and creativity.

🌱 We’re thrilled to announce the trial of an innovative take-back recycling scheme at Garrard Waters, Northampton!

This trial is the first of its kind in the industry.

The scheme allows customers to dispose of various types of waste, including carpet, underlay, vinyl, cardboard, wood, packaging, laminate off-cuts, general waste, and old, uplifted products. The response has been incredible, and we’ve already increased skip sizes to meet the high demand.

So far, we’ve collected 14.52 tonnes of carpet, 1.05 tonnes of underlay, 1.6 tonnes of vinyl and 1.3 tonnes of cardboard, all set for recycling.

We’re excited to see the impact of this trial and hope to expand it to other locations soon. Stay tuned for more updates!

Meet Paul Drury, Our Trade Counter Manager at Anderson Grant 👋🏼

This year marks Paul's 20th year in the flooring industry! After spending 23 years in the automotive sector, Paul made the leap to Headlam as a Commercial Operations Manager and swiftly became a flooring expert.

Now, Paul runs our busy Chelmsford Trade Counter, welcoming over 100 customers each week and advising on countless projects from start to finish. He thrives on the satisfaction of happy customers and loves making a difference in their projects!

Paul's top advice for newcomers is to get as much technical training as possible and spend time with key customers to truly understand their needs. Hands-on experience is invaluable!

📣 Customer Announcement 📣 Our customers have spoken and we have listened... We're rolling out new, improved packaging and tubing across our distribution centres.

The new bagging has increased in thickness from 55 microns to 75 microns, making it more durable and more tear-resistant. Additionally, a new slip additive allows the rolls to slide out easily when unloading.

The inner tubing has been strengthened, enhancing its durability and stability. This adjustment significantly reduces carpet creases, directly addressing previously raised issues and ensuring that carpets maintain superior quality and appearance throughout transit.

The first distribution centre to benefit will be Mercado. We're committed to rolling out these enhancements to all centres as soon as possible.

We can continue to recycle waste cardboard back into our tubing supplies! 🌏

Kicking off his flooring career at Headlam Newcastle, John has gained invaluable experience across the Group, including roles at Hadfields and Mercados, before returning to the Headlam Group earlier this year. We would like to reassure all our valued customers, that we are not selling directly. We remain a trade-only business and our trade counters are there to support you as a collection point.

To open a trade account at one of our trade counters, you must have a trade business and a strict process is in place to ensure that we only supply to the trade.

We are excited to introduce Faithfulls Cambridge flooring specialist trade counter, conveniently located just off the M11.

Here, trade-only customers can access the UK's widest range of floor coverings, tools, and accessories, and take advantage of the experience and knowledge shared by Peter Pullen, Trade Counter Manager.
