Congratulations to our final Unique FY Media team on completing the 6 week course, improving their confidence, public speaking, team working and communication! Well done everyone!
Today we decorated our own pots and planted some seeds, we can't wait to see how they grow over the year, thank you Grow Blackpool for letting us use some compost and the polytunnel
On Tuesday we had Skate Like A Girl Collective come in and we did skateboarding as part of our fitness week we also took over their Instagram and created a reel
On Wednesday as part of fitness week we headed to Stanley park to fly the kites we created and play rounders it was so much fun

Last week we had the fabulous local author and poet Nathan Parker in to do a workshop with the young people. Part of what we did was poetry and we created a group poem take a read!

UFY Media Is Music To Fynnley's Ears - Groundwork A talented teenager from Blackpool has set his sights on a career in music, after taking part in a creative media course run by Groundwork.
Its ART WEEK! And we have had the pleasure of a visit from the fabulous Helen! Who hand-created these beautiful zentangles with positive sayings on them for us to design! We had a truly mindful day and got lost in the colours! We were even able to put them into a frame and take them home when we were done, Thank you Helen!
During ART WEEK we had a visit from an amazing local artist Jessie's Creations she encouraged us to 'think outside of the box' with our art, embrace the things we like to draw and even showed us how to create wonderful digital art! Ella created a beautiful mandala and Ashley drew this fantastic PRIDE Train!
DAY 1 OF ART WEEK! This week we really get to express ourselves creatively and discover new art techniques, styles, activities and more! Today we kicked off the week with Tie Dye creating our own shirts and socks!
To finish off Team Building week we challenged our learners to create a structure out of sweets, marshmallows and sticks and see if it would stand up on its own! They used their teamwork, communication, task delegation, leadership and imagination to create this structure which DID stand up on its own!
We absolutely LOVE these team posters designed by our current UFY Course! So creative and reminds us the importance of team work!
A Little Card With A Huge Message - Groundwork How a creative media course run by Groundwork gave a Blackpool teenager something to smile about.
WEEK 1! Our first chance to express our creativity and have a little friendly competition, we created our own unique paper aeroplanes and competed in accuracy and distance
Its WEEK 1 on our next Unique FY Media Course, the first week is all about getting to know each other, the room, and the course leaders Ali & Ana. The learners set their own ground rules, play some get-to-know and team building games! (We even had a rock paper scissors championship battle) We also discuss important transferable skills which we will be working on during the course and we display them in the room to remind ourselves what we are achieving each day!
Final presentation, last week we said well done and goodbye to our amazing learners, we re-capped the past 6 weeks, everything we learned, enjoyed and the journey we’ve been on. We can’t wait to see what these wonderful young people do next!
To celebrate our last week of this course we took a trip to Plant Skate Co and had a lesson in skateboard basics and how to create a skate video with Skate Like A Girl Collective we also designed our own skateboards! 🛹
On Friday for our final day of this 6 week programme we headed to Plant Skate with the young people for some fun boarding and filming

It’s week 6 which means it’s our final week for this current course 🥲 and today we’ve chatted about our personal experience on the course and turned them into posters! Our favourite quotes so far are

Music week! We had the opportunity to have two amazing DJ’s come in and run a workshop for us! We learned all about mixing, beats, music and even wrote our own raps and had the chance to perform them! Thank you Gemma and Jadie!
What a day! Today we unleashed our competitive side and had a best-of-three game of bowling! It was a close call but the winning team was Jayden, Fynnley and Taylor! We even had multiple strikes! What a great end to a great week 👍
Last week we had art week on the UFY Course we had 2 different artists come in and work with the young people, we also made tie dye t shirts, socks and did street art
During ART WEEK we were joined by an amazing local artist Jessie's Creations she helped us to design street-art style pieces and explore our creativity and artistic sides! The moto of today was "there's no such thing as doing art 'wrong'!"
ART WEEK!
We were joined by a wonderful artist Helen, who showed us how to do Zentangles, we put on some relaxing music and all felt very "zen" as we did them! Practicing mindfulness while we are being creative 🌸
This week on UFY is all things 🎨 Art 🎨 and we’re kicking the week off with TIE DYE! We can’t wait to see how these turn out tomorrow!
It's week 1 of our next UFY course! Yesterday the learners came up with their own course rules and designed these amazing posters to be put up around the room. We are so excited for the next 6 weeks!
Here is what two of our learners had to say about our last course, new experiences, making friends and having fun! Our next course starts Tuesday 18th January 2022 and we cannot wait!
Merry Christmas from Unique FY Media, one of our learners on our last course created this amazing 3D Christmas tree on our wall using just green paper, showcasing his fantastic creativity and innovation. Then the DIVAS and SK8 M8's (which are two youth groups run from TheGrange Blackpool ) helped to decorate the tree by making and designing their own paper baubles!
Our final week of this course! We were very lucky to meet local street artist Seca One Art and create our own individual personalised canvas's that our learners actually spray painted themselves and were able to take home and keep! What a brilliant way to end our 6 week course. This week is Street Art week and we’ve been creating our own street art styles on the computer and on paper
One of our Learners drew this amazing poster for our company Groundwork, incorporating our logo & values into this poster; that is now proudly hanging in the UFY room

Last week was our 🎵 Music 🎵 week, and the learners wrote, recorded and helped to mix their very own song with the help of local recording studio Rock Hard Music. They helped to create lyrics, choose and record the beat and they even went outside and recorded sounds (like hitting a spoon off the big metal apple) to use in the song!
This week we’ve been learning some graphic design and computer skills, it’s music week and we’ve not only designed our own album covers but we’ve also written and recorded our own song with local recording studio Rock Hard Music 🎶
Last week was our FILM MAKING week on our UFY course! We had local charity Skate Like A Girl come in and do some skateboarding and filming with us, we designed some skateboards and watched a skate video about local Blackpool skaters. We also filmed our own promo video for the course!
It’s week 1 of our UFY Media course running for the next 6 weeks 😁 this week we’re been working on teamwork, communication and kindness 👍 Our 6 week course is open to anyone aged 13-18 living in Blackpool or surrounding areas who are home educated or Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
