You may be wondering about the significance of the Equinox. Equinox is a word that means equal night in Latin. Basically, this is a time of year when the sun shines equally on the both hemispheres resulting in night and day lasting an equal amount of time.

This happens twice a year at the Spring Equinox and the Fall Equinox. In the Northern Hemisphere we are approaching the Fall Equinox—aka Mabon. If you live in the southern hemisphere, it will be the Spring Equinox, or Ostara, soon.

Both equinoxes hold the themes of balance, equality and equilibrium. In addition to these, each equinox marks a transition point and holds its own unique energy.
