For any victim of domestic abuse, it is often difficult to report the abuse they are suffering from. Male victims are three times less likely to report abuse, with one of the reasons being a fear that people won't believe them. However the conviction rates for purpetrators of domestic abuse is very similar for female perpetrators and male perpetrators.
𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗦 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 and we are highlighting the almost non-existant provision and support for the 1-3 victims of domestic abuse that are male here in Arun & Chichester. 11% of male domestic abuse victims have considered taking their life due to partner abuse. In 2021/22, 18 men died at the hands of their partner or ex-partner. More action is needed to help male victims,
In joint research conducted by the University of Central Lancashire and the ManKind Initiative in 2020 focusing on men’s experiences of coercive control from intimate partners, 84% of male domestic abuse victims reported they had been threatened with never seeing their children again by their abuser.

Under Clare's Law you can:
🔹apply for information about your current or ex-partner because you're worried they may have a history of abuse and are a risk to you.
🔹request information about the current or ex-partner of a friend or relative because you're worried they might be at risk.
This service is available BOTH men and women, although requests from men only make up about 3% of all requests as the service is mostly only publicised towards women despite the fact that 𝟭-𝗶𝗻-𝟯 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻.
