Ensure all fire safety arrangements are regularly reviewed, at least quarterly and any updates updated and communicated to the site.
Comply with HSE rules and regulations.
Ensure all company fire procedures, precautions, fire safety standards and site plans are understood and complied with by all on site.
Ensure weekly checks of fire equipment, detection and alarm systems are carried out and logged by the Fire Safety Coordinator(s).
Check that all escape routes, fire & rescue service access, fire-fighting facilities, work areas are regularly inspected by appointed Fire Safety Coordinators.
Monitor compliance with site fire safety plan.
Manage maintenance of fire equipment and keep records.
Ensure weekly fire alarm tests and weekly site fire arrangement checks are completed and record as per the Balfour Beatty weekly fire check sheet and Insight.
Ensure fire drills are completed at required intervals for all platforms.
Monitor arrangements and procedure for calling fire & rescue service.
Provide and update the Fire and Rescue Service with the following information:
Plans / Maps / Site Layouts.
Dedicated emergency escape routes and staircases.
Positions of fire points, hydrants.
Temporary building(s) and stores within buildings.
Location of hazardous items, e.g. flammable liquids, COSHH stores, Tanks, gas cylinders, etc.
Promote a fire safe working environment, promoting housekeeping excellence.
Manage the completion of the weekly Fire Safety Inspections and ensure findings recorded and kept on file.
Manage the completion of the weekly fire alarm tests and weekly site fire arrangements checks.
Check that there is adequate control of flammable liquids and hazardous materials on platforms and in the tunnels.
Ensure arrangements for electrical and gas installations to be isolated during emergencies.
Ensure all installed tunnel fire main outlets and smoke curtains are tested, inspected, and recorded.
Work closely with the NNB Fire Safety team to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Principal Contractor.
Manage fire safety targets against the NNB HSEPI scoring criteria and ensure monthly compliance.
Attend daily and weekly Fire Safety meetings with NNB and other Tier 1 contractors to ensure a coordinated approach to fire safety is achieved across the HPC site.
Requirements:
Hold a valid and appropriate CSCS card with Fire Safety quals on.
Strong up to date technical knowledge of fire safety.
Hold, as a minimum, the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety qualification, or equivalent.
