I am so pleased with my latest project for a lovely couple in Haltham near Horncastle that has just been completed.
This section of garden had become overgrown and looked very tired and dated, so they asked me to come up with an alternative that required less maintenance and made more of a statement. They loved it and hope you agree that we succeeded.
The whole area has been stripped, some plants were saved and replanted elsewhere in the garden. The area was levelled, new sleepers, timber edging and w**d control fitted. The new gravel chosen by the customer was delivered with a just in time delivery by Tom from Resfeber Property Solutions via a local quarry, thanks for your help as usual. I hadn’t used this gravel before but I absolutely love it (just a shame the photos don’t show the full extent of colour and sparkle).

Darren

Already nearing the end of April and the weeks just seem to be flying by this year.
Following a really mild winter everything seems further on than usual.
Just thought I would share a few beauties from the last few weeks in various gardens I get to call my workplace, enjoy.

TheraPlate Clinic It’s a pleasure to work with you on this long term project and good to see all the hard work starting to come together nicely. Such a shame to loose a beautiful tree like this but good to know it’s being used to maintain and compliment these wonderful gardens. More to come in good time.
Regards
Darren

We are dedicated to enhancing the quality and aesthetics of our clinic, and you may have noticed the ongoing improvements to our car park aimed at enhancing traffic flow and parking convenience while preserving the natural beauty of our surroundings. In our commitment to maintaining the pristine state of Carrington, fallen tree logs have been repurposed in a sustainable manner, keeping us closely connected to nature.

These transformations and preservation efforts have been expertly overseen by Darren, who is instrumental in maintaining the beauty and functionality of our clinic grounds. Together, we strive to create a harmonious and sustainable environment for all who visit our clinic.

We are barely into February but with large carpets of snowdrops already around it was also lovely to see these other spring bulbs bursting into life. A beautiful bit of colour clearly being encouraged by the above average temperatures, plus another sign that spring is hopefully just around the corner, bring it on. A couple of bonus photos from last week too.

Well that’s the RSPB’s done for another year.
Having only been here for a year and a half and starting from a blank canvas it’s good to see the garden developing nicely and seems to be already attracting plenty of wildlife.

Busy day in Carrington tidying up after the recent storms but the highlight were these beauties finished off with a lovely sunset. Brightens up any winters day plus an early sign of what is hopefully just round the corner.

2024 is upon us so wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

I hope you have all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year break?

2023 proved to be another successful year as the business continues to grow from strength to strength.
May I take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who gave me the opportunity to work on your gardens/projects in the last year (attached are just a few highlights).
I continue to love doing this job so can’t wait for spring to be here so we can get back into the new year of gardening.

Take care and weather permitting I’ll see you soon in the coming weeks along with some new faces hopefully.

Best Regards
Darren

Before and after photos of another annual prune up to one of my regular gardens in Heckington plus probably a last trim of the lawns for this year.
Just so lucky and privileged to work in such a beautiful garden.

It has been a beautiful sunny day and really pleased how much difference it has made, hope you agree?

Another awful day as if we haven’t had enough rain in October already but we weren’t going to let a bit more wet stuff deter us from getting this hedge trimmed up nicely for the backend.
At least we got to see that yellow thing in the sky for the last bit of daylight.

Darren

As we drift into autumn, the nights maybe pulling in way to quick but there is still plenty of colour in the garden to remind us of summer.
Just thought I would share with you some of the beautiful flowers from one of the gardens in Woodhall Spa that I get to call my workplace.

Another small garden tidied up.
My clients, who are not gardeners, wanted their small front garden to look good, be maintenance free as much as possible and all done to a strict budget.
Hope you agree all have been accomplished.

Darren

My clients in Woodhall Spa wanted to convert their poor quality front lawn into a maintenance free garden.
Hope you agree it’s been tidied up nicely and should stay looking good for many years to come.

Another cast iron garden bench saved from the scrap yard.
My elderly client loved this bench but thought it was well past saving.
We decided to leave the cast iron ends as they were to save all the lovely memories.
Adding new timbers and metalwork combined with a bit of TLC will hopefully preserve this garden bench for many years to come.

June is here already, but how quickly did May disappear and what a strange month of weather? I think we’ve had all four seasons in one month, May started where April left off with plenty of rain plus an odd overnight frost. We then had two weeks of above average hot weather. Finally to finish the month off this last week has been really cold and more like autumn.
As we head towards summer even with the mixed bag of weather it’s lovely to see so much colour around in the gardens I have the privilege of helping to look after.
I hope you agree?

Darren

What a beautiful day it’s been today and one of the reasons I love doing this job. Thank you to everyone for putting their trust in me to look after their gardens.
I hope you all enjoy the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Just a few photos from today and this week’s travels.

Another job complete, I’m really pleased with how this latest project has turned out.
My clients brief was to remove the existing old and unsafe pergola and replace with a new one that incorporates a seating area, renew the footpaths and add new planting where possible.
I’ve built a new pergola with a central planter surrounded by seating all overlooked by a bespoke sunbeam roof. The old base and paths have been cleared and renewed with timber edging a good layer of wood chip.
Two new rustic sleeper planters have been added plus a good selection of new planting to all areas.
I love the way the sun shines through the new roof and hope you agree the whole area has been transformed.

Darren

What a lovely week it has been for sharp frosty mornings and beautiful evening sunsets.
Might have been too frozen for much gardening but you have got to appreciate the natural scenery this time of year.
At least we are edging closer to spring.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

I hope you have all enjoyed a merry Christmas and had a relaxing break.

2022 has carried on where 2021 left off and the business is continuing to grow from strength to strength.

Thank you very much to all my new and established clients who gave me the opportunity to work on their gardens/projects. The last year seems to have flown by but I continue to love every minute of it (attached are just a few highlights from the year).

We are now into 2023, spring will hopefully be just around the corner so we can get back into the new year of gardening work, let’s see where this journey continues to takes us?

Take care and weather permitting I’ll see you soon in the coming weeks along with some new faces hopefully.

Best Regards
Darren

I’m really looking forward to see how this turns out!
My clients brief was to add to the existing trees/shrubs to create a new border/boundary.
We came up with creating a mixed native hedge that would achieve this whilst also giving food and shelter to an array of birds, insects and wildlife.
We used a mixture of dog rose, beech, field maple, wild cherry, spindle, crab apple, hornbeam and red & yellow dogwood.
The majority of them are currently dormant so I can’t wait till next year to see them spring into life. Watch this space and I’ll keep you updated!!

Regards
Darren

Well that’s my second year of business done. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of you that have put your trust in me to work on your gardens, whether it be just a one off visit or long term projects, I really do appreciate the opportunity and long may things continue for many years to come.
Today’s been another busy day, after a cold start with a touch of ground frost, the sun soon got things warmed up and we got cracking with tidying up this hedge. My client requested a nice tight finish to help protect the garden within. Hope you agree it turned out nicely. Plus a few bonus photos from a beautiful day gardening.

Regards
Darren

Leaves leaves everywhere, anybody would think it was autumn!
After a good tidy up it’s lovely to see most lawns back to there best after a summer of excessive heat and drought.

Darren

My clients brief was simply to prune/trim this area back up into three distinctive shrubs.
Given the size of them and how blustery the weather was on the day in question, I hope you agree that they look a lot better.

Regards
Darren

As we move into early autumn following a summer of record breaking temperatures, it’s nice to see some late colour in the garden after some well overdue rain.
Just thought I’d share some blooms with you from the last few days.

Hi everyone,
Apologies for not posting lately, I have been really busy with work plus we have had to move house, which after nearly 23 years in our previous place has been no easy feat, especially in the heat of the last month or so.
On the plus side though clearly the previous occupants weren’t interested in gardening as you can see so we have a blank canvas to work with.
Watch this space as we make this garden our own over the coming weeks/months/years.

Regards
Darren

Another small project completed this week.
My clients brief for the area at the front of their house was to remove the grass/w**d and as much as possible make it maintenance free but look tidy with a couple of small planted areas but retain access to the service covers.
Hope you will agree that all areas of my clients brief have successfully been completed.

Darren

It has been a busy couple of weeks so I just thought I would share some of the beautiful flowers that have been on show in some of the gardens I have worked in. Especially some of the tulips that seem to be lasting really well this year plus another of my favourites the bluebell.
Then to round the week off nicely on Friday I heard and saw my first swallow and cuckoo of the year, just bliss!!!

What a mixed bag of weather that has been today to bring March to an end (where has a quarter of the year gone already).
Snow showers then in the blink of an eye glorious sunshine.
The highlight of the day was this beautiful magnolia tree in full bloom. It’s got to be one of the biggest I’ve seen locally, it put a smile on my face and made being out in the cold worthwhile, I hope you agree?

Regards
Darren
