Budget kitchen refresh for student let.

Walk-in Larder interior.

This project involved resizing Howdens
Cabinets to fit the space.
These pre-built cabs are harder to resize than standard flat pack stuff as the cabinets are dowelled and glued at the factory, so you cannot disassemble.
The first 2 critical cuts are to remove the top or bottom panel. Set saw depth of cut to approx 15/16mm. A track saw is really usefully here (a circular saw and guide will work too) but whatever you use setup has to be accurate, we’re trying to just cut the dowels off.
If spot on you’ll just leave the side panel veneer behind (see pics) without changing the dimensions of the top/bottom panel, which is key to keeping things square once you reassemble.
After this its simply a case of carefully cutting the amount you want from the height off both side panels, and refitting the top/bottom panel you cut off with screws (assuming the sides won’t ever be seen, which is the case here) and then flush cut the back panel to fit.
Corner cabs are a little more tricky as the back support needs to be cut by hand and the shape is harder to work with - contact me if you need advice.
