They might not give you the funding, the job, the opportunity you’ve been after …
But the beauty of having a practice to return to is that they can’t take away what you already have …
& probs they cant do it like you either 😂
But in all seriousness your practice is working on all those things every time you come back to the mat and do that impossible drill one more time (if you come to my classes 😂)
Invest in yourself 🩷❤️🩷❤️

🙌HOW CAN YOU START TO GO FURTHER IN YOUR YOGA PRACTICE?! 🙌 At some point you will reach a point in your practice where you feel you can try new things out – but you might feel like there is a gap in how you get there. TOP TIPS: 🍉Never abandon the basics/foundations – you always need them & you will still need to develop them to move further forwards 🍉Consistency & regular practice is key to building up any new action 🍉Learn from a teacher rather than a youtube video 🍉Go via proper technique & alignment, don’t think you can enter the pose however suits you. Even if it feels good in the beginning this will never pay off in the long run Summer regular classes : Sunday’s 9.30am Vinyasa @heatheryogauk Monday’s 9.15 @otleystudio Tuesday’s 7am Sunrise @heatheryogauk Upcoming workshops: 8 & 9 Oct in Norwich – A weekend of workshops @yogaroompodcast 🤸🏽♀️#yoga #yogapractice #yogaposes #yogatechnique #asana #asanapractice #practice #padmasana #lotuspose #lotus #lotushandstand #handstands #handstand #yogahandstand #inversions #inversionjunkie #yogaworkshops #yorkshireyoga #yogayorkshire #leedsyoga #bradford

🫠WHEN THINGS BECOME BUSY 🫠 It’s been a while since I’ve had a whole day in the dance studio. To be in my dance practice. In the past months I was rehearsing SURRENDER to take to The Netherlands. & this means I have less freedom to move for the sake of exploring my dancing etc! My yoga practice for me is part of my dance practice – so I’ve still been practicing daily my mysore practice. But things in my body have felt a bit meh – do you know that feeling? I’ve had a lot of other work and things to do and haven’t had the time to just focus on some drilling, repetition and deep stretching. Which in the past year I was massively in the habit of doing! & when you have got out of the habit of doing things – it can be hard to get back into them right? TOP TIPS FOR GETTING BACK ON IT ☑️Start small & build it back up ☑️Try not to focus on what you have missed out on or even what you have lost, it will come back with effort & persistence ☑️Do what you can around everything else that is going on, being hard on yourself will just create more pressure & make your body even tenser ☑️ENJOY it! Remember the feeling of loving being in your practice Go for it people! Lots of exciting new workshops coming up & excited for INVERSIONS tomorrow♥️ Ella X #pincha #pinchamayurasana #straddlepress #straddlepresspincha #yoga #movement #dancer #yogapractice #asana #āsana #inversions #inversionjunkie #ashtanga #ashtangayoga #yorkshireyoga #leedsyoga #yogaleeds #bradford #move #handstands #handstand

🌸ABOUT STRENGTH IN THE YOGA PRACTICE🌸 It looks like pressing up to handstand, holding arm balances or finding that little lift up to headstand takes a lot of strength. Students are often suprised when I tell them YES but also NO. You generally see that yogi's have a different kind of body to the muscular body builders. That is because the strength is recruited from the core - and from engagement of very specific muscles - built through exercises that include body weight as opposed to external heavy weights. Here's a few tips for how you can find this inner strength within your practice to support your inversions: 🔥VACCUM METHOD CORE WORK - learn how to use your transverse abdominals in combination with your breath to properly engage your core 🔥DO YOUR DRILLS - yes that's right - want that Bakasana to really settle and not just be something that appears every now and again or want to float up into your headstand with grace and control? Commit to your drills - they are your step by step guide! (Don't know what drills you should be doing - get in touch). 🔥THE POWER OF REPETITION - repetition is how we learn. We become stronger by recuiting the muscular action on a regular basis - the body starts to clock and understand what it needs to do whether you are upside down or on your feet! POTENTIAL 🌸💪 One thing I love about yoga practice & about sharing this practice with my students is that I can guarantee – this practice will prove to you that you are capable of more than you think – and more than what you can imagine when you begin practicing. It’s the small steps – suddenly being able to hold a dolphin, or downward dog that you once found difficult becoming your rest pose … or finding that float to the top of your mat feeling that little bit lighter. It teaches you that you can do hard things – and that there is always room for growth – even in adult hood when we think things are too cemented – you have the agency & the power to discover more about yourself and to change – if that’s what you want. Give it a go – yoga is amazing …. Come join me for a class this week (limited schedule) Sun 9.30 am Vinyasa – @heatheryogauk Tues 10am Mandala - @yobalancehotyoga Upcoming workshops – 19th June – INVERSIONS @opensourcearts & another INVERSIONS TBA for July Ella X #pincha #pinchamayurasana #inversion #yoga #yogacoach #forearmstand #yogamotivation #motivation #yogapractice #handstand #upsidedown #movement #yogateacher #yogateachings #asana #asanapractice #yogisofinstagram #practice #yogaleeds #yorkshireyoga #yogayorkshire #yogagirl
Last night was the final Masterclass in the Personalised Practice May Masterclass series. When you create your own program first you spend a lot of time dreaming it up, properly planning it and then you start to put it out into the world and hope people will join you!!! I had 4 brilliant women sign up to the first program and very grateful for them – they have been amazing students to teach and I can’t wait to work with each of them in their 1:1. How did the Masterclasses go – well: 🙌Intro to Inversions - was fun. Lots of tips and tricks shared to help conquer the fear of being upside down by working into stability, control and proper technique and alignment. 🙌Accessing safe & deeper backbends – certainly a challenging area of the body to tap into and everybody really rose to the occasion. Working mindfully and with care. 🙌Arm balances – I threw everything but the kitchen sink in there. Hit them with arm balance after arm balance and then finished with a nice relaxing savasana (rare ha). One thing I love about working with students who start to commit to working with me either through coming to my classes long term or by taking up PP or 1:1’s is that I see transformations happening. I love to witness this and help people progress both physically in their practice but also on a spiritual level in what the practice offers them and what it opens up for them. YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS Hard might not be dropping to lotus from Handstand, it might be that reverse trikonasana (triangle ) , warrior 3 or that deep hip opener that your struggling with in the practice ... whatever it is - remember practice not perfection - work towards it and give yourself the chance to do the work and progress ! Change takes time but change happens if you manifest it and do the work ☝️ Sunday love 💕 & a reminder that if you are ready to step up and do those hard things - many of them happen in my weekly online class ;) Or come and work with me 1: 1 - and then we'll really delve in!
WEEKLY ONLINE CLASS Wednesdays @ 6.30 - 7.45pm UK TIME This is an improvers level class! We work with a dynamic flow. It's lighthearted and playful - but also technical in the approach to the asanas/poses. Only 12 spots available in this class so do book in advance!
