We are open today - Saturday 12th October - 10am - 3pm for all your uniform needs! We are still re-stocking from storage for some items but have plenty available & can take requests for storage items to be collected after next week.
*** All items 'Pay as you can afford' cash donations only - All Welcome, No Criteria ***
We have coats, hats, scarves & gloves out with more being added today.
Also stationery and pe kits available if your child is like mine and has lost half of theirs already ๐
We are getting there!! Apologies for any delays this last fortnight - it's been rather an eventful one for various reasons.
However - our shop is having a mini-makeover - with a lot of help from our brilliant committed team of volunteers!!! And is looking rather fabulous :) - here are a couple of sneaky peeks! I will be taking tomorrow off for a well-earned rest, then back in and open this Friday AND Saturday! All requests will be caught up with on Friday - thank you for your understanding.
Anybody fancy helping me out with a tip run pretty please? Don't need a van, a car with a decent boot would be fine. And nothing is dirty ๐
We are open 9.30-2.30 as usual today - all welcome, no referral needed.
However, we are moving some stock around to make room for new shelving, so please excuse the mess!
We may have the door locked, if so please knock for entry if we don't see you through the window - we also have a note on the door explaining this ๐
Thank you!
Washing Volunteers -
We have bags of washing, including coats/hats/scarves, if anybody is able to help with this please.
They can be picked up either today in Wrose until 2pm, Friday from the shop in Shipley between 9.30-2.30, or by advanced appointment on Wednesday during the day. Please get in touch if you can help.
Thank you!!
A mid-September Friday in the Uniform Support Hub - This is why we open all year round ๐ฅฐ
Picture 1 - A table full of this week's requests & referrals which have been found ready to pack up
Pictures 2 & 3 - All our coats have been unpacked & organised by our fabulous volunteers this morning
The shop is still a bit messy recovering from the summer, but we hope to be back on top soon!
We will be open at the slightly later time of 10.15am this morning - apologies for any inconvenience.
*Having to do an emergency dash to the child's school with spare uniform due to a drinks disaster ๐ซฃ*
We are OPEN TODAY 10am - 3pm ๐
Thank you for your patience this month as we get back on top - many year-round uniform projects close for September to organise & get on top of all the 'unseen' jobs and as our summers are getting busier each year this is something we may look at for next year. But for now, we appreciate your patience & support as we swap over to autumn/winter stock and sort out the huge amount of donations from the last week of August. Thank you!!
Due to illness the Uniform Support Hub will be CLOSED tomorrow - FRIDAY 13th September.
However we are open THIS SATURDAY 14th September - 10am - 3pm.
Thank you for your understanding ๐
This morning I was invited to join with Zephaniah Trust to share prayers and hold space for all of the many children & young people either returning to or starting in education this week and next. Another part of this role which feels like a privilege to hold!
This summer we have met many families & children - all with different worries, wishes and fears - you were all held in our thoughts today and going forward ๐ฉท
Today we meet with some of our lovely volunteers to pray for children, young people and staff as they return to school and college.
Join your prayers with ours wherever you are!
***Uncollected Requests***
We still have a number of uncollected requests on our shelves. If you still need these items please get in touch with us ASAP as these will be unpacked on Friday and put back into stock unless you contact us in advance of this.
Thank you :)
We are open this Saturday - 31st August - 10am - 3pm ๐
We then revert back to our term-time opening hours from Monday 2nd September which are on this poster along with our full address ๐
Please note, any requests not collected by the end of day Monday 2nd Sept will go back into stock, unless you have contacted us to arrange otherwise.
*** If you are thinking of calling in on Saturday for last minute items, please consider sending us a message to check if we have the items you need first if possible to prevent a wasted journey.** We are very low on some items but will be re-stocking and have more available by the end of September. If people are rude to our staff & volunteers due to not having the items they need, unfortunately you will be asked to leave the shop.
Thank you.
IMPORTANT Uniform Donation Information
PLEASE note we do NOT have the capacity to take the following items -
*** Out of date logo/branded uniform due to uniform changes - we are a re-use scheme.
***Out of area logo - we keep the odd piece we get in but can not take bulk donations - it simply doesn't go out as people can't afford to travel that far to us.
*** Clothes & shoes with holes in, lots of stains that won't come out, trousers with worn out knees. Anything that you wouldn't put your own child in. We CAN take items without buttons or that only need a small fix.
**Bulk donations (more than 2 large black bags) without pre-warning/checking with us AND waiting for a reply - especially at our donation points.
Thank you for your help & support - this really helps us to operate effectively and manage our workload ๐
Please do not leave uniform outside our shop. We are incredibly busy this last fortnight and it just adds to our workload and washing pile due to rain & wind overnight. There is clear signage on the window of our opening times and other local donation points. Thank you.
We know many families who have been through our doors in the last 6 years will be waiting to pick up GCSE results today. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers - not only today, but this next week and month as you make plans & begin new journeys โค๏ธ
A word of encouragement for all of our youth - and all those in our community and beyond - receiving their GCSE results today.
You are amazing - you did this!! Whatever your results bring today, know God is with you on your next steps - he has plans for you! Put your faith in God - You have a future and a hope โค๏ธ
This fortnight is our busiest time at Shipley Area School Uniform Support :)
I am catching up with paperwork & communications today/this evening so if you are waiting to hear from us this may be today, Thursday, or Friday evening if you messaged us after Monday and I need to check the shop for your request.
We still have lots of requests waiting to be picked up - I have attached a reminder of our holiday opening times. We revert to our term-time opening times on Monday 2nd September, which are also attached below.
Any requests not collected by Monday 2nd September will be placed back into stock. All items on our waiting list will remain on this until 30th September - if the items are not in stock by this point we will clear our waiting list unless you message to request that we keep your item on - this is due to children often going up sizes if an item comes in after this point.
Thank you!!
Anybody free for 15 mins-half hour with a car this morning please?? I've left 3 big bags of uniform at Highcroft that need to be at the shop for requests ๐ซฃ
I have to make a mistake at least once in our busiest time of year ๐ค๐คฃ
**Reminder**
We are closed until Friday due to annual leave.
Thank you ๐
Laundry volunteers-
We have washing available for collection today before 3pm, or from next Monday - please let us know if you can help - Thank you
Saturday 10th August Opening Info
***Important***
We are open 10am - 3pm for pick-ups of pre-ordered items & to place orders for items only.
Due to an extremely high level of donations & requests this week, I will not be able to pick & pack new orders on the day, or allow browsing of the store. However I will have paper order forms & will be able to advise on sizes/school requirement etc & then get back to you next week when all available items have been packed for you.
Thank you for your understanding!!
We are extremely busy this week with both request and donation levels - I will reply to everybody who has made requests already before Saturday with the current status of your request :)
There will be a few items that we may have but I won't know about until next Friday as I simply ran out of hours at our storage, however these will definitely be checked by the end of next week and is limited to trousers & shirts. We also have had an absolutely massive amount of donations come in this week which it will take us time to process. Thank you!!
For any families who are Incommunities Housing Association tenants this looks like a great scheme which may be able to help, there seems to be no qualifying criteria to meet other than being a current tenant of Incommunities :)
Incommunities customers can get help with the cost of school uniforms over the next 12 months.
Customers will be offered vouchers for school uniforms to alleviate pressures surrounding the cost of living.
