It's National Burger Day today people so get out there and get your lips round some juicy buns, like I did with this cheeky little vegetarian number from Trollburger!

The first Smokey Mountain of the season at The Troll's Pantry, serving at the Florence Road Market. Insanely good.

25/08/2016

Celebrated National Burger Day with the Gecko from Burger Kult at the Mash Tun. Chopped chorizo, piquillo peppers, Monterey Jack cheese and sriracha mayo. Those guys have really hit their stride since I first visited a few years ago!

And those chips! 😍🍔👊👌

Had a fantastic burger with battered shrimp. And the skin-on fries were sensational. Well worth a trip to the seafront for these. £12 all-in.

When I'm on the hunt for a burger, I'm really only interested in the lettuce. Forget a beautiful piece of beef, gooey cheese or a crisp layer of bacon. Show me the green.

Luckily, Barcode in Hove accommodated my predilection for rabbit food by including a verdant canopy of lettuce that was at least twice the size of everything else in my New York Burger. Happy days.

The Craft Beer Burger (with added Monterey Jack) from Stock Burger Co. down on the coast. Just above average but don't go out of your way.

25/02/2016

Been awhile since I've been back here to have this little puppy. The Dirty Little Burger. Only £4!

10/07/2015

It's Friday. It's Street Diner Day. It's Smokey Mountain from The Troll's Pantry Day. Sweet smoky Jesus, it was good.

04/06/2015

It's beautiful out there today, Brighton! So go get your burger on! This is the 'supermonstertruck' from Burger Kult at The Mash Tun. Juicy!

Is this the unhealthiest burger ever?

I don't mind the calorie count so much (people are responsible for their own choices) but the ingredients look a bit... well, s**t.

telegraph.co.uk The Double Donut burger - described as a 'heart attack in a bun' - contains 2,000 calories and 53g of saturated fatBritish pub chain Hungry Horse has a heart-stopping new dish on its menu: the Double Donut burger, which consists of two beef burgers topped with cheese, four bacon rashers and BBQ sauce, sandwiched between two glazed ring-doughnuts.The burger contains 1,996 calories, nearly 100 per cent of a woman's recommended daily energy intake.Advertised with the line "So Wrong It's Right", the Double Donut burger also contains 53g of saturated fat, more than double the 20g daily allowance for women and well above the 30g allowance for men.Hungry Horse pub restaurants are part of the Greene King group and there are 220 branches nationwide. The chain, billed as "family friendly", has been criticised for serving the 2,000-calorie burger at a time when high street outlets have been asked to make their meals more healthy in a bid to counter the obesity crisis."It's shocking and unnecessary", said nutritionist Fiona Hunter. "It's pretty much a heart attack on a plate."Her sentiments were echoed on Twitter, where the burger become a sensation. However, some strong-stomached junk food fans did express enthusiasm for the calorific creation.Described on Hungry Horse’s page as “bizarre but brilliant”, the burger is part of an American-style menu, which includes crispy battered jalapeño peppers and cookie dough cheesecake, as well as a 'horse shoe stacker' containing 20 onion rings.Steve Jebson of Hungry Horse, said: "Our popular menu caters for a variety of tastes and appetites and includes everything from lower calorie options such as our hot chicken and bacon salad at 393 calories, through to the indulgent occasional treat such as our new Double Donut Burger.""All the nutritional information for our menu is available on our website and in our pubs, so that our customers are able to make informed decisions about what they choose to eat."This burger is the latest in a string of unusual burgers dreamed up by chefs with a taste for publicity. The ramen burger - where the bun is replaced this time by ramen noodles shaped into discs - hit the headlines recently. It was recently described by Time magazine as one of the "17 Most Influential Burgers of All Time”.Will the Double Donut reach these heady heights? Only time will tell.See what is inside the world's most expensive burger:

The Pork & Chorizo burger from the new menu at the Royal Sovereign. Review coming in the next few days.

The first Woodland burger served this year by The Troll's Pantry. Smokey, garlicky, juicy, cheesy... This may just have replaced the Stinky Breath as my Troll burger of choice.

This is a burger within a burger

A burger within a burger. It had to happen eventually. Shame it looks utterly repulsive.

metro.co.uk A massive burger within a burger, which was originally created in a hit cartoon show, is now available in real life.

The Attack on Titan Burgers Look Utterly Disgusting

Attack on Titan burgers, served in Japan. Too far?! I'm feeling queasy just *looking* at these bad boys.

kotaku.com And by disgusting, I mean, revolting. And by revolting, I mean that I might actually want to eat this. Maybe not.

05/03/2014

Holy cow!

Wait. I mean, holy pig!

From Monday 10th March there'll be a new Third Burger in town at Hawksmoor Seven Dials – the Five Pork Burger.

Working on the assumption that more is always better, we've topped a Tamworth pork patty with sausage meat stuffing and a couple of slices of smoked bacon. On the side there's sausage gravy for French-dipping and a couple of extra-long pork scratchings. To balance it all out we snuck in some Spring Greens which brings a little Sunday Roast into the mix and a dollop of homemade apple ketchup. Definitively the piggiest way to get your greens.

The Troll's Pantry

'The Monster of Smoke and Shadows'. Best. Burger name. EVER.

We have something special for you this Friday at Street Diner.

The lovely chaps at The Little Blue Smokehouse are providing us with a limited amount of their delicious smoked pulled pork to add to our latest creation.

"The Monster of Smoke and Shadows " - £9.50

Imagine the Shadow of Smoky Mountain, topped with tender pulled pork as well as our delicious honey bacon jam. This will be a real feast only for the most hardened adventurer.

Don't like the price tag? One of these will feed two lesser mortals, so just ask us to cut it in half for you.

There will be a very limited amount, so come early to guarantee one. Regular Shadow of Smoky Mountains and Imperials also available.

If popular enough, I will put this on at the The Hobgoblin too!

On a birthday soirée up to the Big Smoke last week, I tackled the Three Birds Burger at swanky eaterie Bob Bob Ricard. After the surprise of biting into crunchy wing bones on my first taste I had to disassemble it and de-wing the avian friends found inside.

Once done, the triple whammy of crispy quail, guineafowl and magret duck, with game stuffing and orange and cranberry chutney was fantastic - smokey, juicy and rich.

Yours for only £23.25! Not including fries, which tasted exactly like McDonalds fries and even came in a BBR-branded cardboard box too.

I wonder if there is a correlation between the expectation level one feels for a burger and how exotic its name is. 'Chuck Satan' as opposed to 'bacon cheese burger' for example. Or 'Gaea's Fury' instead of 'spicy bean burger'.

Discuss :)

Found this beauty lurking in my photo stream today, taken at Bar Boulud, London in late August. This was the 'BB', comprising beef pattie, foie gras, red wine braised short ribs, truffle, frisée, horseradish mayo and confit tomato in a black onion seed bun.

Upmarket, pricey (£19.50 w/chips) but possibly one of the best burgers that I've ever put in my face. Heartily recommended if you find yourself in Knightsbridge anytime soon.

They also do an awesome Venezuelan Old-Fashioned for those who fancy themselves as the Don Drapers amongst you ;)

The Troll's Pantry

An ever-evolving Smoky Mountain? Burger 'chapters'? This is going to be good. The Smoky Mountain was the first Troll's Pantry burger I ever gobbled down, and began the love affair! Review here: http://brightonburgers.wordpress.com/2013/03/05/smoky-mountain-the-trolls-pantry/

So you guys wanted Smoky Mountain permanently on the menu.

So it's on! From now on the Imperial and Smoky Mountain will feature as standard. Tonight they will be joined by the Troll's Stinky Breath Burger!

However.....

Starting tomorrow I will be launching a range of new Smoky Mountains that will appear briefly. They will each form chapters of "The Legend of Smoky Mountain" the burger I will be creating to compete in the London Burger Bash. Each chapter I will add more exciting ingredients and tweak new sauces.

The Legend of Smoky Mountain - Chapter 1, starts tomorrow lunchtime and features a 100% natural ingredients BBQ sauce made with olde English spices and fresh vine ripened tomatoes + a new bacon jam!

More details TBA soon!
