Exhibition Statement
In this room are works by all thirty-two current students at the Royal Academy Schools – an exhibition marking the reopening of newly restored spaces that house the three year postgraduate programme.
Here, we see a fragment of the complex ecosystem of the studios: a cabinet of many works and propositions. Visual and conceptual connections are neither directed nor purely accidental – they occur because of conversations that happen when works are developed and realised in close physical and psychic proximity.
Originally an artists’ workspace, the Weston Studio has become a gallery for the Royal Academy Schools in which to stage experimental shows of new projects and ideas - both resolved and ones that have not yet reached a conclusion.
Three Years is curated by artist and Senior Lecturer, Margarita Gluzberg - who at points between 2021 and 2024 has been in dialogue with all the participants of this exhibition.
