🚨 Are you an actor with ambition? Then enter the TVIFF MONOLOGUE COMPETITION!

🎭 Simply perform a monologue of your choosing. There are two rules: it mustn’t exceed two minutes and no Shakespeare.

📍Heats run over first three days of the festival (6th-8th Nov) at ARC Stockton. Four finalists will be invited back to perform at our glittering Closing Ceremony on the final day of the festival, on stage with Mark Benton and Stephen Tompkinson.

🏆 The winner will be presented with an award by Mark and Stephen and will receive representation by the North East’s premiere agent DJW Talent. For those who already have an agent, you will receive a consultation and Spotlight profile health check with Daniel-John Williams, the owner of DJW Talent. 😎

How is this possible?! In just one month - a little over 4 weeks until submissions close! There will be no extension to entries - sorry! So please, if you’re considering submitting your short film into one of the many categories on offer at The RS FilmFest, please do so before 10th October!

After this date there will be a quick turnaround when the finalists in each category will be announced.

Radio Victory hires new presenters Kate Constance and Martin Mills Kate Constance and Martin Mills are joining Portsmouth’s Radio Victory to host weekend shows from September.

Our speaker line up also includes Chris Evangelou - former winner at The RS FilmFest but for those that don’t know him -

Chris Evangelou is a British powerhouse—actor, director, film producer, and former professional boxing champion. Stepping into the ring in 2003, Chris quickly rose to the top, becoming one of Britain’s top 10 fighters.

Now, he’s traded the boxing gloves for the big screen, and it’s been a knockout career move. Chris delivers an electrifying performance as Primetime in Guy Ritchie’s gritty crime thriller *The Gentlemen*, starring alongside the likes of Colin Farrell and Matthew McConaughey as one of the unforgettable Toddlers.

His talent has landed him roles on some of the biggest platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky Atlantic, and even a turn as Troy the boxer on the iconic BBC series *Eastenders*.

But that’s not all—Chris is ready to take on the world once again in the highly anticipated series *La Maquina*, set to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu, bringing his hard-hitting presence to screens across the globe.

Added to our speaker line up is the exceptional

Amber is one of the most sought after actresses for British Independent Films. She has played leading roles in 29 British Feature Films, numerous award winning short films, and comedy productions.

Recent castings include; the protagonist in “Hestia” a sci-fi filmed at Pinewood Studios in partnership with Sony Pictures, the antagonist opposite Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter) in the Feature Film “Influenced!” and a co-lead in NBC Peacock’s “The Alpha Male Chronicles”. Amber played a lead role in IMDb’s 2nd Most Anticipated Film of 2023 which was #1 in the US box office & had a worldwide cinematic release. She has trained at RADA (UK) and Beverly Hills Playhouse (USA).

Highly trained in Screen Combat, Weapons, Fi****ms and Wirework - Amber also enjoys horse riding, archery and boxing. Amber is also Neurodivergent (ADHD).

I'm so grateful to have the support of none other than the prolific Peter Pedrero!
I've tried to keep his bio short but there's just so much to say, it was very difficult!

After completing all of his required training at the age of 24, he was accepted onto the British Equity Stunt Register, and for the past 39 years has worked as a Stunt Performer\Double, then ascending to Assistant Stunt Coordinator and then onto becoming a fully fledged Stunt Co-ordinator and 2nd Unit Action Director.

Fortunately for him, his extensive amount of work has taken him all over the world from the desserts of Morocco to the jungles of Belize.

He was nominated in 2004 for The World Ta**us Stunt Awards for “Best Fire Stunt in a Film for the film “28 Days Later”, and again nominated for Performing a Fire Stunt on “Hitman’s Bodyguard” in 2018, and 2019 for “Final Score” was nominated for three different catagories, Best Fight in a Film, Best Work with a Vehicle, and Best Wire Work.

During his career, he has also been both nominated and won as part of an ensemble Stunt Team working for other notable and renowned Stunt Co-ordinators, other numerous awards which include an Emmy and SAG awards for various films and television shows, which include, Harry Potter , The Bourne Ultimatum, and Game of Thrones IV.

In 2005 he was inducted into the “Hollywood Stuntman’s Hall of Fame” for his personal contribution to the Film and Television Industry, and is a full Member of B.A.F.T.A, The European Film Academy and British Actors Equity.

One of the highlights of his career so far was that he was involved in the concept and ex*****on of one of the most successful advertising campaigns in 2013, in which Jean Claude Van Damme performed his legendary “Splits” while standing on top of the front wing mirrors of two articulated Volvo trucks, whilst they reversed down an airport runway. He has since worked as Volvos Main Stunt Coordinator and Stunt Advisor on five of their major advertising campaigns, and has been blessed to also Stunt Coordinate on other large campaigns for other well known brands.

When Peter is not Stunt Coordinating or Action Directing, he still loves to perform stunts whenever possible.

I can guarantee a great pair of eyes will in particular be looking at the Action category at this years RS FilmFest!

Another judge I'm grateful to have the support of at this year's RS FilmFest is Brad Moore - Brad has previously been on the Q&A panel, where he provided really useful insights into his experience within the industry.

Ex-boxer and stand up comedian, and now a versatile British actor, Brad has played the lead alongside the likes of Jaime Winstone (The Visitors) and Ricky Tomlinson(Gloves Off). He’s also stolen the show in character roles in films such as Golden Years alongside Simon Callow and Phil Davis. and North vs South with Stephen Berkoff and Bernard Hill.

With a track record both in front of and behind the camera, he has performed in, and Executive Produced films that have screened in cinemas nationwide, sold internationally to major distributors such as Sony, AMC and Entertainment One, and have topped the charts on Netflix, Sky, Amazon Prime, Peacock, and Hulu.

Brad was nominated for the Michael Powell award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and his films have won two BAFTA’s, three National Film Awards, and have screened in competition at several high profile festivals such as BFI London Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Beijing International Film Festival, Sitges Fantastic Film Festival and Dinard Film Festival.

Of course I was going to take the opportunity to help make the decisions on the winning films! For those who don't know me, Hi, I'm Sophie, Director of The RS FilmFest!

For me it all started with Speech and Drama school, followed by being on stage whenever I could ... and then I was introduced to the world of TV & Film around 9 years ago.

I gained experience both in front and behind the camera and developed TV concepts that went on to win BAFTAS. I then took a little break from the industry to focus on my marketing business, but I'm firmly back - bringing everything I've learned along the way, and working on making things happen with another couple of projects currently in development.

I'm passionate about giving talented people an additional platform to showcase their work and helping them to make useful connections so that they can continue to grow and be provided with further opportunities.

I'm pleased to announce that the wonderful Kathryn Carmichael is joining this year's RS FilmFest judging panel. A former winner at this festival (on more than one occasion!) I'm grateful to have her expertise to help with the difficult decision-making of the award winners!

Kathryn is a British award-winning screenwriter and actress born in South Wales who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Acting in 2014, on completing the Raindance Producers Course she went on to complete her MA in International Film Production in January 2020. Kathryn's acting career has seen her appear in BBC Casualty, Shakespeare and Hathaway opposite Nick Moran and Netflix's The Crown, plus several short films and a Feature film playing opposite Bruce Payne.
While juggling her acting career Kathryn also runs her Boutique Production Company Bad-Fox Productions (www.Bad-fox.com) She is a multi-award-winning Director and has produced over 7 short films, directing six commercials for Heineken and Budweiser. Kathryn directed the theatre production of Kinky Boots and the filmed theatre production of Kissed by A Flame in 2023. She is presently developing her TV series The Orchard – A Seed of Hope. Kathryn is also the Associate Producer of a feature film "Edge of Justice" both in development with Kelsey Grammer, and the TV series The Night Rider. Kathryn is also a member of Bafta and has had the honour of being on the Judging Panel for the Bafta Cymru Awards multiple times.
Kathryn is always looking to support, and uplift other women in the industry, and her writing often reflects this in their storyline.

I said this year would be slightly different and to help with that, I’m grateful for the help of my buddy of many years who is going to help keep the event on track, running smoothly and giving it a bit of a professional edge by being the voice of god/announcer at this years RS FilmFest on 30th Nov.

Welcoming Jane to our judging panel at The RS FilmFest this year! She will also be presenting the Creative Queens Award.

Jane started life as a child actress and trained at Laine Theatre Arts, going onto to teach drama and art between having 5 children.
12 years ago she entered the film industry learning on the job and writes, produces and directs film.
She has made over 30 films and won 70 awards for all aspects of film making.
She is passionate about historical or period drama, social issue drama, thrillers, and psychological horror.
Jane is the founder of Creative Queens, a worldwide collective to promote, uplift and empower women aged 40 and up who often get forgotten in casting and sidelined in crew roles.
