The look of love 💛 Last Friday's wedding with Sabena & Ben at Aldwick Estate kicked off the summer season with a bang! 🌞

Top tip time! 💯 And something Josie and Adam did brilliantly on their day. Before we headed out for our 15 minute portrait session, we did a quick "confetti check" 🎉

Not essential, but always useful! Having photos with your partner usually takes place after your ceremony and after your big confetti moment! 💐

So before we head out, we can call on some fellow bridesmaids and groomsmen to check and get rid of any confetti still left on the dress, in your hair or in your eyebrows - trust me, it gets everywhere! 👌

These photos were taken at Quantock Lakes, one of my absolute favourite venues 🥳

Now we all know getting our photos taken can be the worst! Read on for my methods to help make it as enjoyable and not cringe-inducing as possible! How do I do this?

🌞 Quick and easy: Unless you'd love to get some more, 15 minutes is all we need to get some beautiful photos of the two of you.

🌲 Minimal looking at the camera: Most of the time I'll just ask you guys if you'd like to have a chat and I have a bunch of prompts for things you can talk about and will give some lovely natural laughs.

🍁 No awkward poses: I'm not one for overly posing couples! I may suggest you hold hands or put an arm round each other's shoulders, but if even the thought of that is awful, let me know and we'll roll with it! As a laidback photographer figuring it out with each individual couple is what it's all about - everyone's different!

💃 Movement: Having a walk and chatting with each other often yields some of the best photos! I like to keep you moving between 2-4 different locations and capturing the inbetween moments.

What's more, if there's anything you're worried about when it comes to getting your picture, just let me know in one of our catch ups before the big day so I can make you feel as comfortable as possible!

With the last reddened leaves holding to the surrounding trees, in our super quick portrait session we got to enjoy a beautiful sunset as the bucolic surroundings were set ablaze with warm light 🌞

I'm now past the half way mark for this year's weddings and feeling very grateful to all the amazing couples who put their trust me to capture their day. You've enabled me to turn my passion for photography and film into a full-time job and I still can't quite believe it 🙏

I had the honour of capturing Izzie and Josh's wedding on Friday at this spectacular venue and it was lovely photographing these two friends of mine 🎉

What a day! They'd really crafted an incredible vibe with some surprises along the way (Izzie choosing to rap for her speech in an amazing four verse spectacle) and the evening's party was truly wild! 🎉

Since I haven’t shown my face here for a while, I thought I'd introduce myself with three facts thrown in for good measure. So hello! I’m Jake, a Bristol-based photographer and filmmaker. On with the facts...

1. Three years ago I discovered how much I loved playing tennis and was very sad to find out it was unlikely I could go pro due to my age and lack of athletic ability 🎾

2. I love watching films. Some favourites include Banshees of Inisherin, Another Round (a must watch) and Whiplash. And to throw in two of my all time favourites, Little Miss Sunshine and Hook 🦜

3. I not-so-secretly want to be French and was fortunate to spend some time before wedding season living in France with two families learning the language and spending lots of time outdoors 🇫🇷

To celebrate my website's redesign www.jakebufton.co.uk I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly! So here goes. Hi there! I'm Jake, a Bristol-based photographer and videographer 👋

After a couple years of doing weddings by word of mouth, this July I decided to start sharing my photos more widely here 🌎

Since picking up a camera 10 years ago, I've had the great fortune of working with the BBC as a photographer and videographer, various charities, including the where I got to film and photograph none other than Judi Dench (it normally takes less than 2-4 minutes for me to bring this into a conversation).

Favouring a documentary approach, my rich and earthy style has developed over the last 10 years. Understated and organic, my love of nature is infused in my photography. I jump at the chance to take photos or film couples outdoors and often work with couples who feel the same way.

I focus on giving you photos that capture the beauty of the day as it was. You won't find me asking you to pop your head out from behind a tree (my parents wedding album is the best) or contorting yourself into poses you didn't think were possible.
Instead, I focus on down to earth candid photography and videography.

My approach to portraits revolves around letting couples be themselves. Once we've got the essential "look at the camera photo" for the grandparents' mantelpiece, then it's about letting couples relax, interact with each other and essentially try to make the other one laugh 🌻
