Stacking cups provide the challenge of understanding and applying size differences. Single-coloured cups make it easier for your baby to differentiate between them when playing. As tower-building and sorting can be a complex challenge, try using the cups for other activities until your baby is ready: nesting, putting, using for different items’ containment, bathing, sand play, or other ideas.
The rolling bell encourages development of several senses and their coordination all at once: feeling, seeing, hearing, moving, and using hand and leg muscles. This toy is perfect for fine motor skills and grasping with both hands at once, pushing across the floor, and chasing towards it. You can encourage your baby to reach for the bell during tummy time or use it to motivate them to roll over.
The hanging toy is a complex object to look at and is highly motivating for your baby to move and reach for it. The toy also offers different textures to grab and feel, as well as encouraging recognition of different colours. Various mini hangers with holes strengthen pulling skills. The hanging toy is perfect for travelling as well as for use with the play gym.
The manipulation ball is sewn in an unusual design to encourage development of your baby's more complex grasping skills. Additionally, it is colourfully engaging, therefore whether hung or placed on the play mat it will encourage baby to seek, slither towards, kick and even roll over. Later on, it can be used for your baby to crawl after.
The rattles in the first months are perfect for building focus with the help of soft wood touching sounds. Both are light, therefore very soon your baby will be able to grasp, hold and shake them. As your baby’s grip matures – the more complex graspable objects are useful for more complex challenge. The rattles are still kept as a simple for your baby to build the sense of achievement. Use any of the rattle to motivate your baby to move the head from side to side, additionally strengthening the grip.
The first 8 weeks are for you to connect with your baby. At around the second week your baby will begin to stay awake for longer periods. Try offering your newborn a chance to spend some time on their movement mat. Place different items and toys on the mat to build concentration and self-play. The movement mat is soft for baby’s sensitive skin and large enough for your child to stretch, play and enjoy their tummy time. Why not create a movement area with the mat as its focal point?
