Lovely new mural next to Merlin Carpets and Holbrook Moran - Redfield
Unusual sight, Church Road closed by Police who are waiting for the Council to turn up. Due to the metal plates moving when cars go over them and exposing the trench in the road at the traffic light, making it too dangerous to leave as is. Council likely to put in place barriers, until contractor sorts the roadworks out.
The Old Stillage great video from a great pub!
Wondering where the music is coming from today? Two sound systems in St George park for 420 day.

Something a bit different, at 327 Church Road, near the Co-Op, being used as a temporary exhibition, "A load of Spiel". Lots of colourful sign-writing and typography skills on display. See more on the artist's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/painted.spiel/

Update on the old Wetherspoons on Church Road. Local MP Kerry McCarthy meeting with Save Redfield Cinema, pledges her support to help turn it into a social and cultural hub for the community.
Behind the façade of this derelict Wetherspoons pub on Church Road is a beautiful and historic art deco cinema, one of the original wave of cinemas built in the UK a century ago.
Earlier this month I met with the people running the Save Redfield Cinema campaign, to discuss how we can turn this site, which is listed as an Asset of Community Value, into a social and cultural hub for the community. Currently it sits unused, while the landowner applies for planning permission to turn it into housing.
Redfield Cinema is a part of Bristol’s cultural history, and it has lots to offer in the right hands. The Council will decide in the coming months whether or not to turn it into housing, but I will do everything I can to support Save Redfield Cinema in their efforts to restore Redfield Cinema, which could provide a massive boost in regenerating the local area.
