Another one of the ways I’ve decided to celebrate 10 years of Ray’s Room is by starting a newsletter and I would love you guys to sign up! It’s going to be a fabulous little addition to your inbox including crafty articles, special news and announcements, and some special d i s c o u n t codes just for you.

But I have to tell you that I really hate it when companies show up in my inbox every day. I also think it’s pointless because I get massively overwhelmed by too many emails, so never open them and eventually unsubscribe from that email.

With a business that I have a genuine connection with, that emails me less often, I am much more likely to be interested in what they have to say, open, read and enjoy the email.

I wanted to share this with you so that you can understand my ethos around emails and the approach I will be taking with this one.

The plan is for this to be a quarterly newsletter and if at any point the time is right as I have capacity to move it to monthly then I may. In between the newsletter I only plan to email if there’s something really special or important to say. You won’t find me in your inbox daily. And if at any time you wish to unsubscribe you can of course do so - the option will be in the email. 👍🏽

Ray’s Room has evolved SO MUCH in that time - I strive every day to work towards Ray’s Room reaching the potential it has in my dreams. I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am to share with you everything that’s to come.

But today’s about celebrating and recognising the last 10 years and all the incredible stuff that’s already been achieved.

From my dining room table working in the night because I had two babies to take care of in the day - to sitting now in the beautiful Ray’s Room Studio writing this - It’s all been an actual dream come true.

I run this beautiful thing as a one woman band. But really I don’t. From everyone who’s helped me with Raymond and Esme so I could work, to every one of my closest people who I’ve rambled the inner workings of my mind to, to every small business I’ve worked with on stuff I didn’t know how to do myself, to every single customer or crafter who’s put their trust in me. Ray’s Room is so much more than me. I’m so honoured and proud to be a part of it.

Thank you for joining me on this magical journey. I hope you’ll stick around for the next 10 years. Promise to make even more awesome than the last.

And what better time remind you that this year, to celebrate Ray’s Room turning 10 whole years old - we are bringing together two of the best loved concepts - Craft and Afternoon Tea! With our Luxury Crafternoon Tea Experience.

We’ll be coming together in the stunning location that is - opening a gift box of either crochet or embroidery goodies - making special anniversary Ray’s Room patterns and then enjoying tiny sandwiches and cakes, tea and bubbles. I get goosies just typing these words! It’s going to be an absolute blast and I cannot wait to celebrate with everyone who’s booked their tickets!

🟪 INTERNATIONAL GRANNY SQUARE DAY 🟪

Who wants a F⭐️R⭐️E⭐️E pattern for a granny square?

And what’s your favourite ever granny square make?

We couldn’t let this one pass without acknowledging it now could we?

An international celebration of the iconic crochet granny square 🎉 it’s an unmistakable symbol of crochet. And I LOVE IT!!!

Last years crochet summer stitch along was a major hit when we all came together to make a crochet bag. Despite my undying love for the classic granny - I had to write something new to make it a little bit spesh! So I wrote a new granny square pattern and its since been made by myself and Ray’s Room Crafters and turned into not only a tote bag but also a cross body bag, glasses case, passport holders and more!

And it looks totally gorgeous in multi colours OR all in one colour.

If you fancy having a go at this granny square I’ve popped the Iink in the comments to the playlist for the summer stitch along. The first four videos teach you the granny square row by row. If you carry on to the following three videos you’ll see how you can make it into a bag too!

💜What you’ll learn
This course teaches an introduction to crochet. The way you’ll learn will mean that you’ll finish with two projects to keep as well as the confidence to move on to projects of your own. During the course we will cover starting off, different stitches, placements and directions, changing colour, fastening off, edging as well as reading crochet patterns and abbreviations. The way I teach beginners always starts with a granny square which you’ll grow into your very own blanket. The perfect way to learn and practice basics and find your tension. We’ll also do some work on amigurumi style crochet (tight, shaped double crochet good for making dolls/toys).

As with all Ray’s Room craft classes this is also a safe space to talk, relax, a chance for you to gift yourself some time out to enjoy a mindful activity, be inspired and a joyous form of self care.
