Stunning early spring sunset perfectly silhouettes one of the oldest rock formations in the world 🌄.

Photographer Andrew Fusek Peters shot the mesmerising scene from over a mile away as the sun set behind Manstone Rock in Shropshire.

The distinctive rocky outcrop which is part of the Stiperstones peaks is thought to have formed 480 million years ago from quartzite.

The Stiperstones slowly shattered through the process of freezing and thawing until they assumed their distinctive and brooding formations.

Andrew said: “The sunsets at this time of year are truly spectacular and literally fill the sky.

“I photograph Manstone Rock at all times of the day and night and in all seasons but this was really special.

“The sunset dominated the sky so much that I set up more than a mile away to get it all in one shot."

Wildlife photographer outdone by wife after she snaps amazing photo of one of world's largest owls as it landed ON his camera lens! 🦉

Keith Kirk, 64, had to stay very still as the European eagle owl - one of the world's largest species of owl - came in to land on his camera lens, as he peered through the viewfinder.

Both Keith and his wife Caroline, 60, were literally "watching the birdie" - but it was Caroline who captured the amazing moment on camera, in Castle Douglas, Scotland.

And wildlife photographer Keith admits that it is one of his favourite photos - but jokes that it has become a "sore point" between he and Caroline, as she outdid him on the photography front.

Retired wildlife ranger Keith said: "Everybody who's seen that photo really likes it, and she always jokes with me that she was the one who took it.

"It's a bit of friendly banter between us - that the wildlife photographer was pipped by his own wife."

A stunning photo showed the Forth bridges silhouetted against the sunrise - which only occurs twice a year 🌅.

Martin Brown, 52, captured the sun rising over the Queensferry Crossing, the Forth Road Bridge and the ‘iconic’ Forth Rail Bridge at 6.30am on Monday 15/03/21.

He went down to a beach near his home in Blackness, near Falkirk, during frosty weather to snap the view over the Firth of Forth.

Dad-of-two Martin said: “There’s two times a year when you can capture photos like this.

"It’s when the sun comes back round and you can get an ideal shot on the horizon.

“The bridges look magical when silhouetted in the sunrise, it really makes them stand out more."

Man captures amazing underwater picture of a swan - using a GoPro camera and an ice cream tub! 🦢

The award-winning picture captured the moment a curious swan dipped its head underneath the water to inspect the photographer’s camera.

Ian wade achieved the incredible image using a home-made floating device fashioned from an ice cream tub.

The 45-year-old then attached his GoPro and lobbed the camera into a lake in St George’s Park, Bristol.

Graphic Designer Ian was astonished by the result – after taking numerous pictures that slightly missed the swan.

“There’s 50% luck in everything you do in photography,” he said.

“I like thinking outside the box when I’m taking these shots. With this one I had to be like a mad scientist – I do these things on the cheap.”

Ian, from Bristol, first saw the swans while walking with his family. He then rushed home to think about how he could capture the graceful birds.

He said: “I decided to make a floatation device out of an old plastic ice cream container. I cut a hole in it, stuck go pro in hole and put weight in bottom of it.

“This made sure whenever it landed in the lake the lens would always be facing towards the top - when it fills with water – it would sink down a little.

“I went back saw the swans, got my home-made weight device, put my GoPro on the remote control setting and chucked it in.

“It sunk to the bottom. The swans luckily heard the commotion and thought it was a piece of bread.

“You can then fire a burst of shots – which I did until they moved."
