Support your local music industry!

A comment regarding an opinion on tribute acts dominating local venues and why not use local acts…

Well a local venue took the time to respond back (this comment) and yeah it’s no surprise really, so…

Top tips

1) follow a local venue on social to keep up to date with listings

2) try and see more local acts play

3) buy your ticket in advance if possible

Number 3 is the biggest way to guarantee a venue can stay active. From experience of arranging a gig this way assures the venue, organiser and act that the event will go ahead by guaranteeing financial support. It’s not about validation as such that you’re putting on a gig that is popular but that little bit of assurance makes such a difference.

Thanks for reading this post, it’s nothing to be concerned over as we don’t do this full time, but other venues do and Bristol is booming with talented artists, musicians, makers and creatives like no other, so let’s all do our bit if not already, and keep your fav place going, you will miss it if it goes.

Wandering walk to Lady Bay in Clevedon. We have been to Clevedon so many times but not been to this beach before.
Recommend the community book shop in Clevedon not far from the pier. Got an old hardback copy of 'Fatu Hive back to nature' by Thor Heyerdahl last time.

*You might not be able to get to the beach at the moment due to rock fall!

Are you joining us for a celebration of the sea in august…ticket link in bio

During the American colonial period, lobsters were not valued as food and were mainly eaten by the poor, prisoners, and indentured servants.

Native tribes near the coasts used lobsters as fertilizer or bait rather than food.

People even hid lobster shells to avoid the stigma of poverty. In Massachusetts, indentured servants sued to limit their lobster meals to three times a week, winning the case. Lobsters were abundant, easy to collect from the shore, and considered bottom feeders.

They were often consumed as a paste or stew. In the early 19th century, lobsters were cheaper than Boston baked beans, sometimes even fed to cats.

However, by the late 19th century, as railroads spread and lobsters were served on trains, people who were unfamiliar with them found them delicious.

This led to increased demand and the start of lobster canning. By the 1920s, with lobsters becoming less plentiful but demand growing, lobsters transitioned to a delicacy, popular among celebrities and the wealthy by the 1950s.

posted the sad destruction that did during their removal of hedgerows for the expansion of the cemetery. A sad sight to see. But awareness of these acts needs to happen. Sorry for the horrible image. Second image is of the hedge the first image was taken from.

Found this film beautiful and inspiring, how a small patch of nature can be restored in a short amount of time but also really sad at the state of nature in the U.K.

It's on til next week. See what you think...

Build on greenspace to boost the economy is just so utterly utterly stupid and sad, I can’t quite get my head around such a short term benefit long term destructive policy from a government born out of hope and faith. Whats your opinions on this policy? Good or bad?

Sadly as feared the green corridor concept of inner cities doesn’t apply when faced with development. The beautiful Bedminster green was yesterday voted to be developed removing over 20 mature trees in the name of progress. Not one positive comment or approval of the new build occurred from local residents, Bristol tree forum nor local councillors. Is it so negative to cry that democracy at local level is broken…I’m unsure. What a loss to the area.
