Our next performance, this weekend! Something a bit different to usual. We can’t wait!

Our third soloist this Sunday, is the enormously talented STEPH GODWIN.
Steph is a clarinettist, saxophonist, conductor and music educator originally from East London, where she was awarded a music scholarship at Forest School. She went on to study both jazz and classically with Carlos Lopez-Real (GSMD), Christian Forshaw (GSMD), David Fuest (Purcell School), Andy Findon, Joanne Rozario (Northern Ballet), Nicola Pope (London Afrobeat Collective) and Pete Grogan (Mercury Prize Winning - Led Bib). As a freelance player, Steph has performed as a soloist and played in numerous jazz ensembles, chamber groups and orchestras across the UK and Europe. Steph is a passionate champion of music education and is currently the Senior Manager at Surrey Music Hub leading on all the youth ensembles and out of school provision, as well as the Director of Music for the National Concert Band of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets."

Introducing our second soloist for this Sunday's concert...
ALEKSI KOPONEN
Aleksi is a Finnish baritone who trained in Helsinki and London. His most recent engagements include Peter (Hänsel und Gretel, Euphonia Orchestra), Gunter (Götterdämmerung, GAFA Arts Collective), Donner (Das Rheingold, Tarnhelm Opera) Ibn-Hakia (Iolanta, Rose Opera), Masetto (Don Giovanni, Rogue Opera), Papageno (The Magic Flute, Kensington Opera), Marquis D’Obigny (La Traviata, Hampstead Garden Opera) as well as many of the major oratorios. Upcoming roles include Scarpia and Macbeth.
He created the role of Pozzo for Will Gardner's 'You Don't Know What Our Twilights Can Do' for Green Opera.
He particularly champions new music and has commissioned pieces from several composers, most recently J Diaz and Matthew Lee Knowles.

Coloratura soprano JOANNE WHALLEY.

Joanne recently won Opera Festival Scotland's non-professional prize where she sang Berg's "Lied Der Lulu" and Donizetti's "Quel guardo il Cavaliere".
She has just sung the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor and Sandmänchenn in Hänsel und Gretel. She has also sung and covered the roles of Barbarina (Marriage of Figaro), Sandmänchenn/Taumann (Hänsel und Gretel), Cousin (Madama Butterfly), Cathleen (Riders to the Sea), Anne (Merry Wives of Windsor) and the title role in Patience.

At Morley College, Joanne performed in excerpts from operas including the title role in Alcina, Princesse (L'enfant et les Sortilèges), Hélène (Une éducation manquée), Soeur Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites) and Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea).

Forthcoming engagements include Giannetta in "L'elisir d'amore" and performing the premiere of Jacob Bride's song cycle "Songs to Aphrodite".

Our first concert of the Christmas season today! ❤️

The Bradstow Singers are performing in two Christmas concerts this year.
One this Saturday (3rd December) in Halling, Rochester, with The Halling Sinfonia, and one on Saturday 17th December at St Luke’s Ramsgate, with the Bradstow Chamber Ensemble.
Looking forward to kicking off the festive season!

Today’s concert will be going ahead as planned. We considered whether it was appropriate to go ahead (in light of the BBC cancelling their Last Night of the Proms in respect of the Queen’s passing), but after some discussion with the venue, we decided that it’s important to bring the community together at times such as this.

Our next concert promises to be another fun event, full of familiar and popular music. Those of you who heard Joanne Whalley sing in our last concert will undoubtedly want to hear her sing with us again in this performance!

SINGING WORKSHOPS
We are holding two singing workshops on Monday 1st and Monday 15th August, 7:30pm - 9:30pm, at York Street Methodist Church in Broadstairs, and it is open to non-members to come and join in.
It will be free for non-members, who will be able to use the workshops as "taster sessions" to see if people would be interested in joining us as members when we start regular rehearsals again in September.

**CONCERT POSTPONED**
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Bradstow Symphony concert on May 29th until later in the year, or early next year.
The Summer concert on Sunday 24th July will go ahead as planned.

This Sunday! 3pm @ the Sarah Thorne Theatre. It’s going to be a lovely afternoon of gorgeous music 😊
