Gifts of Love

Phew what an intense few days for us!

Trying to pack up and clear out our lovely shop 😞

As many of you know it took us 3 months of love and care to create our magical shop. A beautiful place for the community to enjoy a pot of tea and a chat and buy lovely gifts and upcycled furniture.

All to raise funds for our 16 rescued horses and ponies, 8 chickens and 4 feral cats at the sanctuary and enable us to continue offering our valuable therapy work in the community

Sadly after only trading for 2 weeks the landlord gave us 28 days notice to leave

So it’s been a whirlwind of emotions trying to care for all of our animals, work in the shop until last Saturday then start packing boxes, dismantle the tea shop kitchen, find a local storage unit and move!

As well as trying to create other ways of now raising funds urgently! As we won’t have the Im one from the shop

Rainbows do appear after storms though as we have had an outpouring of love and support from so many lovely people!🌈

A massive thank you to our lovely customers Tim and Jackie who dedicated all of Monday and Tuesday this week with their van helping us move . They are amazing!

And a big thank you to our friend Netty who volunteered her partner Wayne to come over from Sutton coldfield all day yesterday in his gigantic van to move all of the big furniture for us . So kind

And a big thank you to our lovely new friends Jill and Carl who have the burger and refreshments bar outside our shop and not only gave us free cups of tea but Carl also helped us move several loads of stuff from the shop yesterday over to the storage units in Bromsgrove and Kings Norton.

Backwards and forwards for 2 whole days!

And thank you to Angela for gifting us your double garage as storage too

And thank you to all the tradesman Brett, Scott, Spencer, Simon, Joel and Vinnie who helped us dismantle everything we had lovingly created and put it back to an empty shell

And a big thank you to Susie and Emelene who lovingly created the shop and have project managed closing it down

It’s been emotional 🥲

Most stuff has been put into storage in the hope that we can secure a new shop. But we have distributed some things we didn’t need to other lovely charities …

1. We hilariously walked up the High street with a giant sofa and 2 armchairs we had bought for meditation nights and gifted it to the lovely ladies in Age U.K.
2. We gave unwanted pictures, niknaks and clothing to the lovely ladies around the corner at the RSPCA shop (remember the RSPCA kindly bought us lots of cat food for our feral cats!)
3. We dropped off 2 lovely unwanted tables to the lovely local charity Newstarts
4. And we gifted our friend Phil at Catshill village hall a beautiful blue tub chair that we don’t need but he does for their foyer

We are now going to rest and recover from this roller coaster ride 😊

Then we will decide our next step

We have several fundraising events in the diary for the next couple of months to raise funds. And we will be announcing more soon so watch this space

Lovely local couple Sophia Jones Hammersley and her husband who run ”Knits4U” popped into the shop yesterday 🧶🪡🧵

Firstly Sophia sat and enjoyed a relaxing cuppa and did some knitting while her husband videod it for her YouTube channel 🧶🪡🧵☕️🍰

And secondly they filmed and interviewed our Susie about our lovely new shop “Gifts of Love” and how it’s raising funds for our 16 horses and ponies at The Healing Horse Sanctuary 💖🦄🐴💙

An old unwanted pine bedside cabinet was given a new lease of life!😁

We used gorgeous “Bailey blue” paint by Recolour Community paint (as one of our horses at The Healing Horse Sanctuary is called Bailey we thought this was a great name for a paint!)💙🦄💙

We then completed the look with spring meadow transfers and golden farmhouse handles 💙

We LOVE it!🥰

Raising funds for the rescued horses and ponies at The Healing Horse Sanctuary

Our lovely horse Daisy who was the inspiration for starting the sanctuary back in 2008 with Susie wasn’t well yesterday

Beautiful Daisy, who is 26 now,
was struggling to walk in the morning and looked in pain 🥲

Our sanctuary manager Rianne rang Susie who was at our new
Gifts of Love shop in the High street. Susie then rang the emergency vet straight away as Daisy

Lovely Lauren from 608 Equine vets was quite a way a way in Walsall at the time so Rianne offered Daisy some Reiki healing and Daisy loved it

Plus we offered her some essential oils to sniff to see what she would choose naturally and intuitively

Daisy wanted to engage with frankincense (and had her nose right to the bottle) and fennel

Frankincense naturally has anti-inflammatory properties and can help decrease Inflammation and Pain.

Fennel helps with wounds and healing

By the time Lauren arrived in Bromsgrove Daisy was pretty relaxed, mellow and calm as you can see from this photo after all the Reiki and aromatherapy!

Lauren diagnosed an abscess in Daisy’s hoof so pain killers and a poultice were the recommendations

We will need to give her pain meds, wash her hoof daily and change her poultice and support her as she heals from the painful abscess

We shall continue to give Daisy Reiki healing every day plus offer her essential oils and additional nutritional support to aid her healing alongside what our lovely vet has suggested

We are SO happy Daisy is all right as she is deeply loved

She is such a special horse! 💖🦄💖

Obviously being a Saturday we will have a higher rate bill than usual as it’s classed as an out of hours emergency call

Lovely Anna treated herself to this gorgeous upcycled chair today !

Anna is one of our trustees and volunteers. She’s a teacher for special needs young people in the week, works at our new shop Saturday mornings and helps at the horse sanctuary too!

She’s amazing!

She fell in love with this gorgeous “Emperor Red” Annie Sloan painted chair today at our new shop “Gifts of Love”and treated herself before she ended her shift at the shop

We are SO happy to be working in partnership with Ruskin Mill Trust & one of their local collages offering some of their young people work experience in our lovely new gift shop on the High street in Bromsgrove “Gifts of Love”💖🎁 AND at horse sanctuary in Burcot, Bromsgrove 💖🐴🦄🐴🐱🐓💙

Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity supporting the development of work and life skills in young people with autism and other learning difficulties.

They combine Rudolf Steiner’s educational inspiration and the work of John Ruskin and William Morris. They focus on a heart based holistic approach to life for their young people. They do amazing work 🙏🏻

Our charity founder Susie is a big fan of Rudolph Steiner and his work and has always had a heart centered & holistic approach to life and the charity so was delighted to meet the coaches from Glasshouse college in Stourbridge to discuss working in partnership with them and their students

We have now agreed volunteer opportunities for students on Tuesdays and Thursdays in our shop and Friday at the The Healing Horse Sanctuary

Here is beautiful Kaitlyn who kindly helped us price new stock yesterday

What made this even more wonderful was because a lovely lady from Bromsgrove knitted all of these gorgeous hats and donated them to us to sell AND one of our most amazing supporters from Manchester sent us these lovely socks for us to sell too.
