Last cut of the year?
If you weren't cutting grass yesterday ?
I have a feeling there might be a couple more if we dont get some colder weather soon!
Wet, wet, WET!
NO, not the group (showing my age)
Some seriously changeable weather but it hasn't slowed us down!
Complete remodels, border design, hedge cutting and a very serious lawn makeover are amongst some of the jobs that have taken up our time in the last few months.
Getting close to completing RHS level 2 in Horticulture and will be back onto the entomology course before considering the RHS level 3 as well. Who knew gardening contained so much paperwork? 😉
Stay dry and warm everyone!
Quick tidy and prep for a shade sail to be fitted on a BBQ area last week, here is hoping for some good weather to get full use before we go into autumn and raise the grass level to match the new cotswold stone. Not sure whats going on the barbi, but i bet it will taste great!
When you arrive to do some pond maintenance, but one of the local residents hasn't finished catching lunch even though the pool closed signs are up!
What a liberty!
Bit late posting this but on the anniversary of going full time self employed as a gardener, getting exceptionally lucky with clients who support me with my study with the RHS and getting to work alongside other great mentors at the gardens that open...
I thought I would post a picture of something from our garden.
Totally out of place, self seeded sunflowers we thought "ahh give it a chance..."
7.5 foot monsters last measured 2 weeks ago
🤣 you never know what will do well!
Been a while again, but its been crazy with the gardens not behaving!
This is a project we have been working on with the client for a couple of months....
Custom corner 3 post pergola with a curved front, custom curved front deck all built around an existing Ceanothus with a shadowboard and Yew hedge backdrop. Creating a quiet Space in the evenimgs to catch the late sun.
Perfect for a GnT or 2!
More updates over the weekend!
Balls.
How do you keep yours?
Hopefully some of ypu got to look round the wonderful gardens at leap hill over the weekend, i saw a few of you up there and there was a fantastic sum raised for the church. Waiting on confirmed figures but the support is really appreciated! Hopefully you got some nice plants as well!
Open Garden!
So what happened to April? Blinked and it was over!
There are some local gardens we have been helping to prep for private and public openings. The first public opening is on the 9th June and is just outside Brill so very local. Full details will follow.
In the mean time, here are a few pictures of what we have been up to in April!
Some magnolia in bloom and a nice bit of shape on some shrubs.
Its been so, so busy and some big things coming!
Have a great Easter everyone!
So unbelievably busy over the last month! And wet. Very wet.
I broke my rule of staying within approximately 10 miles of Oakley and SPACE. went to Whitstable!
A very overgrown fence, the ivy had actually moved the concrete posts! Rather than digging the posts out and straightening them, client opted to block the gaps as it would have meant digging up a LOT of cement.
As always, after in the comments!
Its been busy and i forgot to post these...
Ditch is over 4 foot deep with 20cm of water in it usually.
No, that branch shouldn't be there.
Nor that tree!
*All situations resolved, some swearing my have been used to assist, especially whe i saw what that *bleeping* tree did to the box hedging!
What damage has the wind and rain done near you?
Small piece of screening foliage gone in here, unfortunately 1 pleached tree was 20cm taller than the other 2, but we went ahead and customer was happy with the result.
What do you think?
Its been a funny few days with the weather, i will bore you with fallen trees and floodwater pictures later, but for now this post is about the importance of timing.
Number 1 was seeded 2 weeks before number 2, number 3 was turf and the section with no number is the original lawn. Pretty crazy that just 2 weeks makes such a huge difference to how the seed has germinated and started to establish! All seed from the same batch provided by the grass people.
Can you tell what it is yet?

When you think you have a lot of leaves to clear, just remember someone, somewhere has a bigger problem!
22 ton bags full removed 😲
Can just about see the other 2 piles the same size in the background!
🍃
That is a leaf emoji apparently!
Thay are EVERYWHERE right now!
If you have the space, compost them, they make an excellent top dressing for borders or pots!
If not, get them off the lawn so they dont kill it, rake them up OR blow them away! Under a hedge where they can mulch down works well or into a big heap and run over them with the mower, saves picking them up!
SPACE. How do you use yours?
As always, after picture in the comments!
W**d suppression, how do you do yours?
Bark? Stone? Something else?
Here is a border, thats a work in progress.
W**ds out, plum slate in. 20mm slate spread thinly wont affect the bulbs from coming through but will help reduce the number of weeds in the border.
