Groundbreaking research by Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn has shown amazing benefits of baby signing, and we're here to share it with you!

👶 The Research: A comprehensive 20-year study funded by the National Institutes of Health in the USA explored how baby signing affects children’s linguistic and intellectual growth.

The study involved three groups of 11-month-olds:
✋ Baby Signers: Parents encouraged to use baby signs alongside speech.
👄 Verbal Group: Parents focused on naming things verbally.
👶 Control Group: No specific instructions given.

The results were compelling! The baby signers:

Anyone who has been in my classes knows I'm all about getting down to your baby's level and having a good chat. The benefits are endless and I just love getting a smile after being daft! 🤣

Is Baby Talk Good for Babies? Science of Parentese Used in virtually all of the world's languages, parentese is a speaking style that draws baby's attention. Professor Ben Ambridge investigates how using a 'baby voice' can actually help babies language develop and shows a fun experiment you can try at home.

My daughter and I are taking part in this! If your little one loves to read and you are able to get to a library then please consider going. Libraries are such unsung heroes!

Our local is Buxton library and the staff are so helpful and there's even rhyme time on Monday mornings at 10!

Children aged between four and 11 can sign up at their local library, with the challenge being to read six or more library books over the summer. Youngsters will get six stickers if they finish the challenge and, once they’ve collected them all, they’ll get a medal and certificate.

💙Week 10. Our final week together! I will do my best to keep It together this week! It truly makes me so happy to spend time with such wonderful families week after week and watch these babies grow. They have come so far since our first week in April.

This week our Stage 1s will be talking about family members and relevant signs we can learn. We'll also be having a recap and there will be a fun challenge for the adults! Our Stage 2s will be discussing speech sounds, setting them up for excellent communication!

💙 Week 9! Our babies are all doing so well. It's amazing to see them grow week on week and be part of their growth. We said goodbye to our youngest age group last week. Now 2 weeks left for our stage 1 and 2 groups!
Our Stage 1s will be talking about bedtime and key songs and actions we use to demonstrate that the time for bed is approaching and how we can make it as gentle and fun as possible.
Our stage 2s will be finishing up with the alphabet!

It's so important to empower our children to talk about how they are feeling. We have a special 'emotions' week in our stage 1 term. We talk about all the signs we can teach our babies to help them to communicate how they feel. Of course we do this with our secret ingredient...music! 🥰
