Youth Ministry - Catholic Diocese Of East Anglia 07/08/2024

Dear All,

We are looking for one more person to join the Ignite Team for this coming academic year. As a final push, I’d be grateful if you include the paragraph below in your newsletter for the next few weeks.

Also, If you know of anyone in your parish (age 18 - 30) who

Finds they didn’t get the ‘A’ level results they needed and is interested in doing a ‘gap’ year.
Is in between jobs or has just left school, college or university.
Is unsettled in what they are doing.
Is wanting to do something 'different'.
Is thinking about priesthood or religious life but not ready to take the next step.
Please suggest they consider applying to join the team.

Many thanks

Hamish

The March for Life UK will take place in London on Saturday 7th September 2024.

There are many attempts at the moment to further liberalise abortion in the UK and to silence those offering any alternative viewpoint, whether that’s ‘pills by post’ abortions, ‘decriminalisation’, buffer zones or censorship on pro-life students at universities.

The dangers of these situations are being highlighted by the theme for this year’s March for Life which is ‘Abortion isn’t Healthcare’. Join thousands at this family-friendly event.

If you are interested in attending please contact our Pro Life Rep, Katy Torcat, for local travel information from our Diocese: [email protected]

“Dear children! I rejoice with you and thank God for permitting me to be with you, to lead you and love you. Little children, peace is in danger and the family is under attack. I am calling you, little children: return to prayer in the family. Put Sacred Scripture in a visible place and read it every day. Love God above all that it may be good for you on earth. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (25 June 2024)

Dear Friends,

The Cambridge branch of the Historical Association in association with Waterstones is putting on a History Day on the morning of Saturday 29 June at Waterstones, in which Dr Lucy Underwood will be speaking on Catholics in Tudor England. Dr Underwood is a Research Fellow at Warwick University and her academic career has been rooted in researching the lives of Catholics, notably children, in Tudor England. I thought, therefore, that members of your communities might like to hear about her talk. Please feel free to include it in newsletters.

The other two speakers are James Crossland, talking about the pre-1914 'war on terror' (in the form of nationalist and anarchist terrorism) and Professor Peter Allen on 'Politics, Death and Taxes' (which, he assures us, is not as depressing as it sounds!).

The event starts at 10.00 and continues till lunchtime. Tickets cost £8.00 and are available from Waterstones: https://www.waterstones.com/events/history-days-in-collaboration-with-the-historical-association/cambridge; for Waterstones Loyalty Cardholders it is £5.00 and members of the Historical Association can register for free.

These History Days have proved immensely enjoyable and certainly enlightening. I do hope some of your parishioners and community members will be able to join us for this one.

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

Sean Lang
