This week, the team at Morro hosted a speed career event at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College, which gave students the opportunity to ask questions about our roles, experiences, backgrounds, and the path we took to get to where we are today.

Our team included members from various departments - Site Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Finance, and Marketing - who all took a different path to get into their roles. Some of our team members are currently studying and completing apprenticeships whilst working at Morro, so it was great to show the students the wide range of opportunities the industry offers.

The students, after the session, were thankful that we shared our experiences with them, and relieved that when they leave College they have so many options, pathways and jobs at their fingertips, many they didn't even know existed.

Thank you also to Dylan Sharma from Baily Garner LLP, who we are working in partnership with.

This has been a fantastic project to be a part of on a site of such historical significance.

We’re always looking to do more than build the homes at our developments, so to be recognised for the wider impact on the community at the former Royal Hospital in Wolverhampton is a testament to our commitment to be better community makers.

Last Friday we put down our tools to catch up with the team, celebrate everyone's successes, and take a look at what exciting things are on the horizon!

The enthusiasm and dedication from every single member of our team was amazing, and it was great to see how everyone is so passionate about making the Morro vision a reality.

All our departments took centre stage before we headed over the road to play some VERY competitive bowling!

It was great to celebrate our Gold Accreditation today at the Investors in People Celebration Event in Leicester! 🏆

We are truly proud to have achieved this award, and it demonstrates our commitment to creating a positive future for our team, our clients, partners, and wider market.

📸 Head of People, Suki Deol, and Head of Marketing, Kerry Morris, attended the IIP Event earlier today (pictured below).

In just over 12 months, we have transformed a disused brownfield site into 49 affordable and sustainable homes just off Cambridge Road, in the centre of Whetstone village.

Our shared project with Midland Heart, consists of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties, all completed with a timber frame construction throughout, as well as the installation of a new park and green spaces.

Throughout the build, we implemented an effective recycling and segregation system with Bakers Environmental Solutions, reinforcing our mission to become better tomorrow makers.

This development will help to meet the growing demand for affordable housing in South Leicestershire and contribute to the national housing shortage through developing homes that are affordable to rent or that are shared ownership.

Earlier this month, we welcomed Alberto Costa MP, Councillor Les Phillimore, and Julia Smith and Terry Richardson from Blaby District Council (pictured below with Matt Moore).

We are starting to welcome new families into Phase 2 & Phase 3 at our former Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Scheme, which will house over 192 families when complete later this year.

The project, in conjunction with whg, includes two- and three-bed houses as well as one- and two- bed apartments. All apartment blocks are eco dwellings with the use of mechanical ventilation heat recovery systems, PV panels and solely electric heating.

We're also preserving the former Grade 2 listed Royal Hospital building, with 38 apartments being formed in the newly renamed Nightingale House. Built exclusively for those aged over 55, with communal gardens, kitchens, and lounges to give residents the opportunity to socialise and feel part of a community.

What a way to kick off

We were back in Wolverhampton last night to give an 'Introduction into Apprenticeships' talk to parents and students.

There are so many different options to choose from when it comes to construction. Whether you want to get your hands dirty on site or fancy assisting the finance team, there's truly a role for everyone!

Yesterday we were at Highfields School in Wolverhampton along with over 60 other exhibitors!

Thank you to Hannah and Qada for giving up their evening to chat about all things construction and their personal journey at MORRO.

On Friday we were at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2023 Grand Finals!

We were so honoured to be able to take part in the event and celebrate the success that the building industry has exceeded this past year.

Congratulations to all of the winners!

MORRO have decided to do things a little bit differently this year. With that being said, we've donated trees in place of our usual token gifts!

Christmas is the season of giving and this year some members of our team have partnered with Birmingham City Mission to wrap presents for families in need.

Through our effort, thosands of children who may not have received a Christmas present will now do so!

This time, we've all been clearing out our wardrobes to donate to Cancer Research UK.

As a result of the Big MORRO clear out, we were able to make up over 20 bags of clothing items. 👗👖👕

At MORRO, we pride ourselves on looking after our local communities and charities, and donating unused clothing is a meaningful way to make a positive impact and help those in need.

It's ! What better way to spend it than donating trees to a local Leicester school 🌱

This week we visited Abbey Mead Primary Academy, just over the way from our project at Abbey Park Road! 🚧

We gave students a number of planting and growing equipment kits, with classes, year groups and the after-school Eco Club working collectively to nurture their trees throughout their life cycles.

And just like that, our first homes in the East have been handed over 🏡

These timber framed beauties are located on Cambridge Road in Whetstone.

This project is a huge stepping stone for our commitment to sustainable building methods and being 🌿

We can't believe it's only been just over a year since we stepped foot in the East Midlands, what a journey it has been so far! Thank you Midland Heart for kicking this adventure off with us, it's been a pleasure to work with you!
