Bishop Rose will be presiding over a special service led by women clergy within our diocese to celebrate and reflect on the 30th anniversary of the ordination of women to priesthood. The service will be open to everyone and held on Saturday 11 May at 10:30am, with all ordained women in our diocese invited to wear their robes and process. Diocesan Adviser for Women’s Ministry, Revd Canon Estella Last will be preaching at the service. She said: “It is really important that we celebrate everything that has been achieved in enabling women’s priestly ministry in the last 30 years and so first and foremost the service is here to celebrate that. “But we are very mindful that the journey towards equality is still a tough one; it hasn’t been easy for everybody, and there is still work that needs to be done. Therefore, the service will also recognise this.” #priesthood #ChurchOfEngland #Faith #ordination #women #Canterbury #CanterburyCathedral

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Hon and Rt Revd Justin Welby, spent Holy Week in the Maidstone Deanery, visiting churches, children’s groups, businesses and community outreach projects. The visit focused on areas of revitalisation and where collaboration in the local community is leading to growth and regeneration. Archbishop Justin said: “Christian faith is rooted in the history of Jesus and particularly the story of Holy Week and Easter. This is the most important week of the Church year – because the events we remember and celebrate make us who we are. In Jesus’ decisions, his teaching, his suffering, his giving of his life and his rising to new life, everything changes for everyone.” #churchofengland #JustinWelby #archbishopofcanterbury #holyweek

@justinwelby followed Jesus' command and washed the feet of his followers at St Paul's Maidstone. Former nun and nurse Theresa Lyons said 'He crowned the King and now he is washing my feet. I appreciate that the Archbishop is humble enough to step down to my level.' Footwashing is a Christian tradition that follows the example of Jesus washing his disciples' feet before the last supper. #churchofengland #Faith #ChurchofEngland #CanterburyDiocese #church #Kent #dioceseofcanterbury #maundythursday #maidstonekent #HolyWeek2024
