Introducing the Velindre Oncology Academy🎓   We are so excited to share with you’re a brand-new charity funded project here at Velindre! 💚
 The Velindre Oncology Academy is the first cancer academy in Wales. Dedicated to transforming cancer care through education, the academy delivers skills training to staff across Wales to advance our workforce and create better outcomes for patients.   The charity funds this initiative and the team behind the academy. This ground-breaking project wouldn’t be possible without our incredible fundraisers and their dedication to Velindre🙌   Hannah Russon, Lead School of Oncology Project, says “On behalf of the Velindre Oncology Academy, we would like to say a massive thank you to the fundraisers because genuinely without this the academy demy wouldn’t be possible. We take our responsibility to you very seriously to make this work and benefit the patient.”

Today we had the pleasure of attending the Veggies for Velindre Opening Day! This amazing allotment is run by our 2 of our young ambassadors, Seren and Morgan, and has already raised an incredible amount for Velindre 💚 The sun was out, fresh cakes and vegetables for sale and such a lovely atmosphere ☀️ Head over to their page and keep up to date with all their fundraising! A massive thank you and well done to Nic, who ran the London Marathon in aid of Velindre, raising almost £3,000. Nic is kindly putting his fundraising donations towards the 'Lion's Den' - our family room in the centre. 💚 In 2003, Nic sadly lost his father, Brian Jones, to cancer. He and his brother were just young teenagers at the time, and visiting their dad at the hospital was a tough time for them all. Nic ran in his father’s memory, and has made everyone so proud. Nic says that he’ll always remember the ‘Family Room’ being a calm and comforting place for the four of them to spend time together away from the harsh realities of the cancer ward. "This room was invaluable for us and, with generous donations and fundraising, continues to bring comfort to so many families facing such difficult circumstances."
