KJ Prime Tutoring
Face to face tutoring available for primary ages; KS1, KS2, SATs and 11+
All set for the final handwriting session this evening. It's been wonderful to work with the students over the past few weeks and to see the progress they have made.
ππ Due to a cancellation I now have a space available in my Tuesday 11+ group, 7-8pm ππ
I also have one space available in my wednesday group which is 6-7pm.
The 11+ groups are for children who will be going into year 5 in September. Please do contact me for more information.
I have been wanting to put some quotes/ art work up in the tutoring room for a while now. After mentioning it to my eldest she suggested she create some for me. This is the outcome, I'm very pleased and they are up on the wall for everyone to see. Thanks to my two girls, great work. β€οΈβ€οΈ What do you think?
βοΈRegular sessions have now finished for summer βοΈ
I would like to say a huge thank you to all my students and their families for all the support this year. It has been amazing to see your children grow and to celebrate their achievements. I hope you all have a lovely summer. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in September.
Thank you to everyone who likes, shares, comments and recommends me. I'm so grateful, it means so much to me and has helped me to build my little business into something which make me very proud. I wouldn't be able to do it without your support, so thank you so much β€οΈ
I will be working a reduced timetable over the summer and will be taking a few weeks off to spend time with my family. I may be slower to reply to messages during this period. I am looking forward to seeing those who are attending my handwriting course and those who are coming for 1:1 sessions.
Let's hope the sun continues to shine! π€πΌβοΈ
How is it the last week of term already?!
We will be celebrating the childrens' achievements this week and there may even be a little chocolate treat to take home. All regular sessions end this week and I will be working reduced hours over the holidays so that I can spend quality time with my own children.
I have one last space in my handwriting group which is running on Tuesday for four weeks, starting Tuesday 23rd July. If you would like more information please do let me know.
ππ Parent feedback ππ
I am so lucky to work with such hardworking children, building relationships with them is the key to success. It is always so wonderful to see them succeed in the tutoring room but it's even more wonderful when they take that success and apply it at home and at school.
Receiving positive feedback from parents makes my heart happy. I'm so proud of all my students.
Popped into B&M, came out with a chalkboard sticker I didn't know I needed! Also bought name labels for my children and couldn't resist personalised stickers! Does this happen to anyone else?!
The chalkboard is going down very well with my students (and my children), it's a great tool to use during our sessions. Students should keep a look out for the stickers next week π

βοΈβοΈ Is that the sun shining?! βοΈβοΈ
It was so good to be back in the tutoring room last week. All students worked so hard as usual and I had a new starter which is always lovely.
I have a busy week behind the scenes this week getting lots of bits prepared for summer and September but the sun is a huge distraction for me!
I still have some availability for casual sessions over the summer so if there is an area of the curriculum your child needs support with then please do let me know.
Have a great week!
π Calling year 4 parents π
It's term 6 which means your child will soon be going into year 5 so now could be a great time to consider the 11+.

Group sessions are available to book for September. Sessions will cover all aspects of the 11+ exam, including areas that may not be covered in school with personalised guidance and support to help your child:
πBuild their confidence and knowledge
πImprove their understanding of key concepts
πDevelop strategies to tackle challenging questions
πEnhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills
π Prepare for the exam with a structured approach
Group Details:
Tuesday evenings: 7-8pm (one space left)
Wednesday evenings: 6-7pm (two spaces left)
Sessions are face to face and are based in Walderslade.
If you're interested in enrolling your child onto one of the 11+ groups, please do get in touch.
I have been a little quiet these past few weeks, sorry! I've been enjoying some quality time away with my family. We've all had an amazing time and in the words of my 4 year old 'we don't want to come back but we have to go to work and school' π
Normal sessions resume this week. I'm really looking forward to seeing my students and continuing our hard work throughout term 6.
There is still one space left in the handwriting workshop. One space in my Tuesday 11+ and two spaces in my wednesday 11+ groups which are for current year 4 children. Please do contact me for more information.
I hope all the families I work with have a wonderful half-term. Let's hope the sun is shining and we all manage to get a well earned rest.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support my little business, this term has been full of new bookings and preparations for summer sessions and September as well as big achievements for so many children who work so hard.
Have a great week. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in term 6 (term 6!) and hearing about your adventures.
π Medway and Kent test 2025π
Is your child currently in year 4 and you are considering them for the 11+ (Kent and Medway tests)? Now is a great time to book onto group sessions ready for September.
Sessions are weekly, term time only, based in Walderslade and with no more than 6 children in a group. We will cover all areas of test; reasoning, maths and English as well as areas of the curriculum the children wouldn't have covered at school. The sessions are great for building confidence and knowledge of the test and are fun and engaging.
Availability for Medway and Kent test 2025 groups:
Tuesday 7pm- 8pm (only 1 space left)
OR
Wednesday 6pm- 7pm (only 2 spaces left)
Spaces are limited so please do contact me for more information.
How brilliant is this! A poppet times table square!
One of my students brought this along to their session. They told their mum I would love it and they weren't wrong. I'm currently waiting for mine to arrive and I couldn't resist buying a 100 square too. I think I'm (I mean the students are) going to love them.
Year 4 multiplication timetable check (MTC)
I'm sure many of us with children in year 4 will be aware of the multiplication timetable test which will take place after May half term.
The test will assess children's knowledge of timetables and will take place at school.
During sessions we use the MTC test on twinkl. This is a free resource so you are able to access it at home. It is a great tool because at the end of the test it will show which timetables the child needs to work on. During our tuition sessions we use lots of fun ways to learn timetables from snakes and ladders, post-it notes around the room, timetables poppets and we have even made posters! These can all be done easily at home and help to make the learning of timetables more fun!
βοΈβοΈ Summer holiday sessions βοΈβοΈ
Does your child find a particular part of the curriculum difficult? Maybe it's division or algebra or it could even be creative writing. A few sessions over the summer could be just what your child needs to boost their confidence in a particular area which could have a huge impact on their learning.
Is your child sitting the Medway or Kent test (11+) this year but hasn't had any tuition? Last year a child came to me for some last minute 11+ sessions as he was finding it difficult to understand the question style independently. After a few sessions, over the summer, his confidence and understanding grew and he passed the test!
Stand alone 1:1 sessions could be perfect to help your child bridge the gap or learn the skills needed for the 11+. During the summer I will be running 1:1 sessions on the following dates:
Wednesday 24th July
Thursday 25th July
Wednesday 31st July
Thursday 1st august
Wednesday 6th August
Thursday 7th august
Wednesday 14th August
Thursday 15th August
There will be two sessions available on each of these dates 5.30-6.30pm and 6.30-7.30pm. Sessions are face to face and are based in Walderslade. Please contact me if you would like more information about the summer holiday sessions.
βοΈ Handwriting Group βοΈ
Over the summer I will be holding a handwriting group. During these sessions we will focus on fine motor skills and letter formation through lots of hands on activities. The course will run on Tuesday 23rd July, 30th July, 6th August, 13th August and is aimed at children in years 3, 4 and 5. Sessions will begin at 5.45pm for 45 minutes and will cost Β£60 for the 4 session course. If you are interested but are unable to attend all sessions please do contact me. There are only 3 spaces left so please do get in touch if you would like to book on.
We have been learning to use inverted commas this week. We used different colours to show when to use punctuation and we used other words for 'said'. Using different colours really helped the student to use inverted commas and write speech correctly. Whiteboards and coloured pens always engage the children!
Can you think of any words to replace said?
π Thank you so much π
I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone for the support you showed me on my last post. So many of you liked, shared and commented and I've been blown away by the response! I've had so many enquiries and people book on to sessions so thank you!
Over the coming weeks I will be sharing more information about my handwriting course and re-sharing my availability over the summer. So do keep an eye out and contact me if you have any questions.
I recently realised I have never shared a photo of myself on here so thought it would be good to introduce myself (I am very much out of my comfort zone here so please be kind!).
I am Kylie the face behind KJ Prime Tutoring. I have been working in childcare and education for over 15 years; starting as a early years Montessori practitioner, moving into a unit which supported primary aged children who were struggling to access school, then onto mainstream school doing the same role and finally completing my teacher training and becoming a primary teacher. My passion is SEN and over the years have worked with so many wonderful children, teachers and TAs and have been fortunate enough to support the SENDco at my last school.
After having three children I made the tough decision to leave my teaching job so I could be more present with my children. And from there KJ Prime Tutoring was born. I absolutely love working with the children and supporting their education in a fun and engaging way as well as building relationships with them. I'm very lucky to work alongside such supportive parents and have many long-standing students who all work so hard.
I love a bit of chocolate and have been known to use it as a teaching tool (any excuse) and get excited over new materials and teaching resources. My own children often pop up at the door to welcome students and we've even had student's dogs come by for a cuddle at the door which all the children love. I feel KJ Prime Tutoring is laid back and welcoming but once in the tutoring room we work very hard and the children thrive whilst still having lots of fun with a touch of silly!
Let me know if there's anything else you would like to know?!
If you would like any information about sessions I have available and upcoming groups then please do get in contact.
Will your child be going into year 5 in September? Are you considering putting them in for the Kent and/or Medway test? Now is the time to book a test group tutoring session.
Booking is currently open for current year 4 children who will be sitting the test in 2025. Sessions are based in my tutoring room in Waldeslade, will begin in September, are term time only and run for the whole school year. During the sessions we will cover all elements of the test; Maths, English, verbal reasoning and non verbal reasoning. We will also look at areas of the curriculum the children haven't covered yet and will work on familiarising the children with the question style and time element. We'll do all of this whilst keeping it fun, engaging and challenging.
Session times: (times could alter slightly)
Tuesday 7pm- 8pm (only 1 space left!)
OR
Wednesday 6pm- 7pm (only 4 spaces left)
We've had a very busy two weeks here making memories with friends and enjoying the sunshine. We're all set for the return to school and my youngest's first day at preschool!
Today I have been busy prepping for the return of my students this week. I'm looking forward to hearing about their time off and tutoring in daylight and (fingers crossed) the sun shining!
I hope all my students and their families have had a wonderful Easter weekend. Yesterday, we spent the day in the sunshine at the seaside with friends which was lovely.
There are no tutoring sessions over the holiday. We will be back from the 15th April. Have a great break.
π 11+ test group bookings are open π
From September I will be running two Medway and Kent test groups (11+). These are for children who are currently in year 4 and wish to sit the test in 2025. I know it seems very early to book in but these groups are getting booked up and once the spaces are filled I'll be unable to add any more dates or times.
During the sessions we will cover all elements of the test; Maths, English, verbal reasoning and non verbal reasoning. We will also look at areas of the curriculum the children wouldn't have covered yet and I will work on familiarising the children with the question style and time element as this is something the children will be unfamiliar with. We'll do all of this whilst still keeping it fun, engaging and challenging.
Session times: (times could alter slightly)
Tuesday 7pm- 8pm (only 1 space left!)
OR
Wednesday 6pm- 7pm (only 4 spaces left)
This evening I received an Easter egg from one of my students and their mum, how kind! Not only did they gift me an egg they gifted my three children a chocolate lolly each. How incredibly kind is that! I'm so lucky to have such wonderful students and parents β€οΈ Thank you so much β€οΈ I'm just about to tuck in now.
