💋Its make up Monday and today I am going to talk about lipstick application 💋

Like with anything prepping is key when it comes to lipstick. You can't expect to get the perfect pout if your lips aren't in tip top condition.

💋So begin by using a lip scrub - like the one in our new limited edition Hidden Jewel Collection to remove dry flaky skin and finish with the clear lip fudge to condition and hydrate the lips.

💋I like to apply a small amount of concealer over my lips to mute out the colour and start a fresh with a blank canvas.

💋Use a lipliner! It not only serves as a great base for your lipstick it can also define and give the appearance of fuller lips and prevent bleeding and feathering - a dream for dark lipstick lovers!

💋Use your little finger to stabilise your hand and begin at the cupids bow. Move out from one side then the other following your natural lip line. Do the bottom the same way - middle to outer corner on both sides. Use a soft liner that doesn't tug and pull the skin and try to match as closely as you can the lip liner to the lipstick. Although most shades of liner are fairly neutral so will match more than one of your lipsticks.

💋If you want a natural look you can use your finger to then gently dab the lipstick onto your lips. For more colour use either a lip brush or apply straight from the lipstick bullet.

💜October is 'Menopause Awareness' month💜

I'm starting to have trouble sleeping - I'm talking the odd night sweat and itchy skin - so getting to sleep for me can sometimes be a battle! I also occasionally suffer with restless leg syndrome which can be awful!

So, last night I went to bed armed with everything I had in our So Sleepy range, to see if it would help.

💜Before my shower I used our So Sleepy magnesium body polish on dry skin, rinsed and moisturised with So Sleepy magnesium body buttercream. Not only do the essential oils help improve your sleep but magnesium can also help calm restless legs.

💜 I sprayed So Sleepy Pillow Mist onto my pillow and massaged the Temple Bam onto my temples.

💜Lastly, I used our Unwind Hand Cream balm to soften and smooth my hands.

I can honestly say I slept a lot better, it wasn't a perfect blissful sleep but definitely much improved. Which meant woke up feeling less tired and irritable - a fact I'm sure my husband is grateful for!! 🙂

It may sound like a lot of faffing around before bedtime but getting good quality sleep is so important, it is worth taking the time to do.

🌿Its Monday so that can only mean one thing - Make Up Masterclass time!🌿

Today I am going to demystify eyeshadow application as we have 5 beautiful new limited edition colours for the festive season! So apologies, this is a long post!!

There are so many articles and you tube videos on how to apply eyeshadow that it can become overwhelming , and you can end up looking like someone attacked your eyes with a Crayola set!!
So I'm going to teach you a few simple steps to create a basic look that you can then build on. The principles work for any colours so once you have mastered the techniques you can start to get creative.

Okay here we go:

🌿 Use at least 2, if not more, make up brushes.
A short haired detailing brush for applying colour to the lids.
A fluffy domed brush for blending
A round brush with dense bristles to line under the eye for a defined look.

🌿Firstly, prep the eyes - this is important to prevent creasing, create richer colours and increase longevity.
To do this apply a concealer all over the lids and set with a light dusting of setting powder.

🌿Light to dark - When choosing your shades, aim for a mixture of light and dark colours, starting with the former first. Using your short haired brush apply your lightest shade all over your lid to create a neutral base to apply your colour to.

🌿Next apply your medium shade to the crease of your eyelid.
No idea what or where your crease is? Your crease is the natural fold in your eyelid, usually located where the top edge of your eyeball ends (sorry, no better way to explain).
Looking straight into the mirror and with your eyes open, apply your chosen shade just above your eyelid. This will guarantee that, whatever your eye shape, you will have shadow that can be seen when the eyes are open. Start with a small amount of colour and build up, then using your fluffy domed brush blend out any harsh lines.

🌿Next apply your dark shade to the outer corner of your eyelid. Sweep the brush in a half-moon shape that runs from the outside corner of your eye about 3/4 of the way down the crease of your eyelid. However, avoid putting the dark shade on the very inner corner of your eye, as this will make your eyes look smaller

🌿Finally take a darkest shade and sweep a small amount under the eye about 1/3 of the way along and the same on the top lid close to the lashes. Not lining the whole way along the lower lashes keeps your eye looking more open.

🌿Et voila!! You have created a fantastic eyeshadow look to be proud of!

After what has been a strange few weeks for us all I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to Italy for my good friends wedding. 👰🏻

It was the most beautiful day in a stunning location, with lots of good food and laughs - oh and just the odd tipple! 😆🍾🍾

I also had the privilege of doing the brides make up and being with her and her bridesmaid as they got ready for the ceremony.

Prior to the wedding I got together with Annamaria to try out different colours and put together a colour pallet for her, which included a blusher, bronzer and 4 eyeshadows. Lipstick can also be added to the pallet if you would prefer not to have it in a bullet. 💄

When you want to change the colours in the palette you just pop out the magnetic pan and switch it for a different colour. No more hunting around your make up bag for different products!

🌿Top Tip Tuesday🌿

🌿When you use serums, moisturisers and oils on your face always rub any excess product onto the back of your hands!

🌿 Our hands show signs of ageing faster than the rest of our bodies so need a little bit of tlc and this is the perfect way to give them the ultimate treat!

Its your Make-Up Monday Masterclass!

🌿Today is all about using bronzer🌿

Whilst foundation is great for evening out your skin tone, it can flatten your face and make it very 1 dimensional. A bronzer is perfect for bringing warmth and definition to the skin and should be a staple in everyone's make up bag.

🌿 Go for a bronzer a few shades darker than your skin tone for a subtle, natural look.
🌿 Don't apply the bronzer all over your face with a large brush, instead use a smaller brush to delicately sculpt your face.
🌿 Load your brush, then tap off any excess, the idea being we want to gradually build up the colour not splodge it all in one place.
🌿 Start to apply the product in the shape of a '3', starting at the forehead, sweeping under the cheekbone then around the jaw line (see image)
🌿 A bronzer worn in this way adds a subtle glow rather than the tanned orange look of years gone by! It also gives some definition by subtly contouring the face.

Yesterday I spent a lovely afternoon doing a make up trial for a friends wedding. 👰🏻💄

We played with different colour combinations and shades until Annamaria was happy, and I have to say she looked beautiful!
The finished look will be kept under wraps for now! 🤫

I did a lot of wedding make up when I had my beauty business and it is such a privilege to spend time with a bride on her wedding day and witness those special moments when the bridal party are getting ready. '💞

And what could be better this time than going to Italy to do the make up and attend the wedding!

I cant wait to share such a special day with two very dear friends 💖

🌿Its Top Tip Tuesday again! Where are the weeks going?🌿

🌿I am sticking with the make up theme today.

🌿Clean your make up brushes regularly! This helps prevent bacteria build up which can lead to skin irritation, breakouts and infection.

🌿You don't need special cleansing products, our Signature Handwash or Little Joey baby wash are just perfect!

🌿Shampoo until clean, rinse thoroughly and leave to dry naturally - simples!

Welcome to your 'Make-Up Monday' Masterclass.

🌿Today is all about concealers🌿

These are designed to hide dark circles and imperfections and as such are more pigmented and thicker than a foundation. Typically, a light diffusing product would be used under the eyes whilst a creamy high-coverage concealer is best for spots and other imperfections.

🌿Application technique🌿

Always apply your concealer after foundation, this provides a base to blend with the concealer for the perfect amount of coverage.
🌿Dot your concealer underneath eyes and also onto the inner corners and pat to blend. I find it easier to blend with my ring finger but you can use a brush or a beauty sponge - especially of you have long nails!! Watch my video on my Instagram page,tropic_with_janeford, to see how I apply mine.
🌿Apply to spots and marks in the same way - making your you don't drag the product as this will start to remove it.
🌿Set your concealer with a translucent powder for a flawless finish.

Welcome to your first 'Make Up Monday' Masterclass!

I'm going to start with the basics which is foundation application.

🌿When applying foundation build up the coverage on your T zone and then blend towards your cheeks. Never start to apply foundation on your cheeks, always start from the middle and blend out.🌿

🌿On the areas you may want a touch more coverage, pat the product into your skin using your ring finger. This gives you the lightest touch on your skin.🌿

🌿If you want a sheer coverage of foundation apply with your fingers, for a fuller coverage use a brush or sponge.🌿

Foundation Types:-
🌿Beauty Booster Sheer Foundation 🌿-
This is a sheer, silky foundation that provides a dewy, weightless finish. It is perfect for giving a light coverage but is also buildable for those of you who require a little more.
Either apply with your fingers or a Beauty Drop Sponge sprayed with Morning Mist for more coverage.
🌿Mineral Foundation🌿
Perfect for those of you who want a full, flawless coverage that feels weightless on the skin.
If you have an oilier skin you may prefer a foundation that helps to mattify, whilst providing long lasting coverage.
Apply using the Full Coverage Kabuki Brush, then use the Flat Detailing Brush to get into the smaller areas such as the side of the nose.
