Knowing your customers inside out is the key to a successful business. Here are some ways to get to know them!
What are you using to drive traffic to your business?
Happy National Email Day! Do you have an email list? Here are three top email marketing tips that are sure to make your subscribers click that "buy now" button with excitement:
1. Make it personal: Nobody likes receiving a generic email that looks like it was sent to a million other people. Make your subscribers feel special by addressing them by name and tailoring the content to their interests. Show them that you know and care about them!
2. Keep it short and sweet: Ain't nobody got time to read a novel-length email. Keep your message short and to the point. Focus on one main call-to-action and make it crystal clear what you want your subscribers to do next.
3. Be creative: Email marketing doesn't have to be boring! Have some fun with it and let your personality shine through. Use eye-catching graphics and catchy subject lines to grab your subscribers' attention. And don't be afraid to try something new - who knows, it could be a huge hit!
Growing your business isn't easy, but with these things in your marketing plan, you'll be most of the way there!
Keep an eye on your SEO by tracking these key metrics!
Need to brush up on your marketing skills? Here are a few places I highly recommend!
Marketing results can be slow. Sometimes you can pour your heart and soul into something, and you might not see the huge results you were expecting. Sometimes the thing you didn't spend any time on goes viral, and you wonder why you even bother. Don't give up. Keep motivated. Because everything matters to the bigger picture. Keep fighting.
Feels great, right?
Running an ecommerce business? Here are a few SEO dos and don'ts!
Just because your competitors look like they have everything figured out, doesn't mean it will work for you. You don't know what's going on behind the scenes. But what will work for you is doing things your own way.
If you're love what you do, marketing it becomes so much easier! You want to be an expert in your field, and an expert about your product. If you're not yet an expert, then share your excitement about your industy and your curiosity to learn more. Passion sells products. ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
SEO strategies should not be copied from your competitor. You have no idea what their goals are, and you may find that they are chasing something that doesn't resonate with the audience you are building. Keep your SEO strategies unique to your business by following the process and researching with your business, goals and audience in mind.
LinkedIn ads are one of the most expensive advertising channels out there. Make sure you are 100% certain that it is the channel for you before you start marketing there
Projects never quite go how you planned, but that's ok! Always remember to build some padding into the project timelines to allow for bugs and issues to be ironed out.
Search Engine Yandex has suffered a major leak/hack which reveals some of their ranking factors. So what does this mean for Marketers?
Given that Yandex and Google has shared some staff, and they have similar goals in that they want to serve up the right content for the right keywords, we can probably assume that there are some similarities in the way they work.
Until this leak, most search engines have kept their algorithms close to their chest, and SEOs have worked on educated guesses, using experience, data and statements from Search Staff to figure out what's under the hood.
Yandex's leak has affirmed some lines of thinking around how the search engine ranks content; for example, Yandex's algorithm takes into consideration Click-Through-Rate, Page Quality Scores, YMYL (Your Money or Your Life), Time of Day/Day of Week adjustments and even considerations for specific websites.
Now, one of the big things to remember is that Yandex isn't Google, and following these exact algorithm factors isn't going to suddenly make you dominate Google search, but it does help to demystify the SEO black box for beginners.

Email marketing is a powerful tool for businesses of all sizes. It allows companies to reach their target audience directly and effectively, and it is an affordable way to promote products and services. As we slide into a recession, building an email list is a low-cost, high-return way to keep in touch with your most loyal customers.
As a marketer, it's important to understand not just who our ideal customers are, but also who might not be a good fit for our product or service. These negative buyer personas can help us tailor our messaging and avoid wasting resources on leads that are unlikely to convert.
Do you have negative buyer personas?

Celebrating with my beloved green friend! My little Cactus, Carl, bring so much life and joy to my home - and has acted as a sounding board for more than one marketing problem. How are you celebrating your houseplants today?
"You are the amalgamation of the 5 people closest to you"
I remember hearing this phrase on a podcast around a decade ago, and it really resonated with me. Every now and again, I review who I surround myself with, especially the voices I'm exposed to online.
I also believe in the phrase "It takes a village to raise a child" - because it also takes a village to help you grow as a person or as a business - no matter what age you are.
Today's challenge is all about what community means to us. And when I first saw this prompt, these two quotes sprang to mind.
Community means having a support system and accountability. It means learning from Osmosis. It means being inspired by community leaders. Community helps raise you to become the person you (or brand) you want to be. Community also means giving back when you can - Providing value, information and a friendly voice whenever the community needs you. It's the village that helps you grow and the people you grow to be like.
Building the right communities for you or your business is vital to success. Monitoring them and nurturing them is crucial.
I've been playing around with ChatGPT. Shocking, I know
I've found it very useful, and while I'm on the side of "It'll never replace human-generated content", I have found the AI program improving my human marketing efforts.
So here's how I've been using it:
π Copy ideas - I put off writing because I never know where to start, but ChatGPT can generate a paragraph or outline as a jumping-off point (I usually completely rewrite what it spits out but it get's my creativity flowing)
π Audience research - I ask ChatGPT questions about my audience to get a quick starting point, such as "what are typical jobs for # # #?". I then have a starting point for research outside of CharGPT.
π To summarise articles or books - I get ChatGPT to give me a general gist to see if I want to read it in full. This has allowed me to get much deeper into a subject in my allocated research time.
π Explain like I'm 5 - I'm rubbish at maths. But I am keen to get better. So I've been putting into ChatGPT things like "Can Standard Deviation be used to analyse # # # data" or "what data models are useful when analysing # # # data" as a jump-off point.
How do you use ChatGPT?
π€ Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are changing how marketers do everything.
π
The biggest marketing trend in 2023 is AI and ML, but I'm more excited about how accessible these are becoming to non-techies, like me.
π₯οΈ AI & ML programs have been part of developer and marketing processes for ages, powering personalisation and customer behaviour predictions.
π¬ But with tools like ChatGPT taking the marketing world by storm - and taking over LinkedIn feeds - I think that AI & ML will become things that marketers need to learn, not just appreciate from afar.
π€ But also, as it gets easier to create AI & ML systems with No- and Low-Code solutions, it's becoming easier to create to serve customers and predict behaviour. But with everything, AI & ML can go wrong when the data that goes in isn't right - and this is where it gets messy for us non-techy marketers.
This is part of the reason I am doing The 100 Days of No Code Challenge. I tried to learn to code. I was rubbish at it. But no code is a redemption arc for everyone stumped by the matrix. And no-coders are working hard to make AI and ML accessible to everyone - and this is the trend I am most excited about!
Google has changed its stance on E-A-T! Meet E-E-A-T!
E-A-T stands for Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness. These three pillars act as a guide to evaluate a website's content and helps Google to rank websites, especially around topics that affect Your Money or Your Life (YMYL).
Recently, though, Google has introduced a new "E" - Experience. This takes into account first-hand experience of the topic. For example, Google gives an example of someone who has written a product review but has yet to use it. Would you trust that person's judgement?
Building Experience into your blog post while also displaying expertise may seem tricky, but by ensuring that you are building your brand's story around your experience, you can quickly build this into your SEO strategy.

Happy World Introvert Day!
I am an Introvert. And this world of personal branding and social media superstars, Introverted is a hard thing to be.
It's something I've worked hard to cover up. I'm usually the first one to jump at the hint of a night out. I love meeting with friends and chatting into the night. I've even done Karaoke sober. But then the "social battery" hits empty, and I need to hibernate for a bit to recharge.
I thought this would hold me back, but then I found a TED talk and book by Cain in 2022. Quiet Power is a fantastic book aimed at Teenagers about how to make the most of being introverted, and it actually taught adult me a lot about myself.
In her book, Susan Cain discusses strengths and qualities of introverts and what they bring to leadership roles. Introverts tend to be good listeners, critical thinkers and very analytical. Introverts also tend to be good at building and maintaining a few strong relationships. But due to their quiet nature, they are often overlooked for leadership in favour of someone more outgoing.
Cain encourages society to embrace and value the contributions of introverts, rather than trying to force them to conform to extroverted norms, but by letting introverts be their authentic selves, we can create a more balanced and harmonious society.
So here's to all the introverts out there making a positive impact every day and being powerful in a quiet kind of way.
If you improve just one aspect of your life by 1% each day, you'll be 37 times better off in just a year!
