The installation shown in the pictures below was recently carried out by our team. It was a new Viessmann boiler 100W 32KW system boiler and un-vented hot water cylinder. Unique to Viessmann is what is known as a 4- pipe installation. With this set up it allows for independent time and heating system temperature control. Simply put, the outdoor temperature is monitored and depending on the temperature the boiler will automatically adjust the radiator temperature to suit. This saves between 12% - 15% on gas usage when heating is on. This automatically does what the government has advised with turning down the flow temperature on a combination boiler. Which you cannot do if you have a boiler and hot water cylinder.

The boiler has built in WI-FI as standard allowing the homeowner full control of the heating and hot water via a smart phone or tablet. The boiler also comes with a 12 year manufacturers warranty.

This illustrates the importance of power-flushing prior to a new boiler installation. The black deposits on the magnets is called magnetite, commonly referred to as sludge. If this is left in the heating system prior to a new boiler installation, it can cause blockage of the heat exchanger and other components within the boiler. When obtaining a quote for a boiler replacement always make sure the quote includes system flushing. This takes at least 4 to 6 hours to complete if done correctly.
