Sometime you have to just wipe the slate completely clean and start again.
I’ve missed running so much
My osteopath recommended doing this app to rebuild slowly
I really enjoyed being out in the fresh air and sunshine this morning for run 1/27
I hope I get back to 5k

A whole new start

Since not being able to run I have mainly been fed up and getting fat!
Last month I decided I could start “showing up” for myself every day.
I no longer have a gym membership and running is still off the menu but I do have feet and I can walk
I am so proud of myself
My target was to brisk walk for 10 minutes every day.
A couple of days I was poorly and one day I spent the whole day helping my mum. I walked around a lot that day but didn’t “go for a walk”
606 brisk minutes and over 1000 minutes of walking overall in February
Walking clears your head, clears your nose and let’s you see the world.
This is something I can do, anytime, and enjoy. It’s free, it’s easy and it’s made me feel great.
This app is an nhs one called active 10
You don’t have to start and stop it, just have your phone with you and if you’ve been walking for a minute or more it starts automatically
It is very satisfying!

2nd NLP session this morning, we go face to face from Sunday.
I actually feel quite poorly ( flu type of thing) so good it’s on zoom again
BUT
last time I was a nervous wreck, chewing my nails and crying
This time I am EXCITED for the session
Looking forward to it
Happy
Calm
It’s all good

Feel so much more confident

Feeling so clogged up!!
Hoping a good dose of fruit will make me feel better
1 banana
Small Bowlful of frozen strawberries and blackberries
Milk
Very nice and enough for another one later

Still not running ☹️☹️
I’ve downloaded the active 10 app from NHS this app tracks your walking and brisk walking every day just by having your phone in your pocket/bag

This has really motivated me

Last week I did over 150 minutes of exercise during brisk walking
The NHS advice is that much

For months I have been doing very little feeling pretty down that I can’t run

Walking has really helped, a lot of the things I like about running can be achieved by walking, heart rate is up, get to explore, see the sunshine, see the trees, breathe fresh air.

Loving the walks to be honest

Trainers permanently in the car in case I get anywhere 15 minutes early and can squeeze in a quick stomp

Running wise things are worse than s**t at the moment. But it WILL get better. I WILL GET STRONG LEGS. And WILL run again. I WILL be able to run in some proper organised race of some distance at some time in London one day that isn’t cancelled.
I WILL

Ice baths for feet suck!

Todays run
I went round the shortest loop today which felt like I was going somewhere and that was nice.
Only problem is this loop ends in a big uphill bit!
I walked a bit and ran, but didn’t keep to a pattern and my pace was worse for it.
I’m also bloody knackered and a sweaty smelly mess!
Will probably pay for this for the rest of the day as foot was sore before I left

BUT

I DID IT

FURTHEST FOR 8 MONTHS.

Woop woop

I went to the osteopath yesterday he wants me to get an X-ray on my foot as part of it is just not getting better, he then did his usual torture whilst saying he was sure it didn’t hurt as much as child birth. He’s right of course but that was a very long time ago and now being pushed and poked on the foot bears no comparison so all I know is OWWWWWWWWCCCCHHHH

He told me to wear toe separators when I was at home and thankfully I have found that walking socks fit over the top and so I don’t end up with freezing feet.

Today I went into town for an hour in boots with heels.

THIS WAS STUPID

Everything hurts

I’m dying
Send chocolate

I Don’t care about the weight anymore

I want new feet

It’s been a couple of weeks. My foot got really sore again ☹️
But after a horrendous number appeared on the scales I decided it was time for ACTION! 💪💪
Today I ran to the end of the road and SHOCK round the corner to the first lamp post too😂😂
I ran more today, in fact I ran most of it. I walked four times I think, so my overall pace was better. I felt better and the running was much more comfortable breathing-wise🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
I don’t know about the foot.
New exercises from Dr fix-me we’re pretty tricky so we shall see. Next appointment Thursday.
Til then I’m in yoghurt for breakfast and soups for lunch - bring it on 🥕🥕🥕🥕

Missed yesterday as my foot was complaining ☹️ stretched a lot and went out again this morning.
My next appointment is next Thursday so by then I should know if I’m fixed or not. 🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞🤞

My calves were a bit achy today - possibly over did the stretching

It’s so difficult to get it right

And I stepped in a puddle!! Aaaaaaa

Good to be outside though

Onwards

Just for reference I stole the tree photo from another page. If those trees were near my house I’d never come indoors. So beautiful

Getting a bit of confidence back now. The last run section finished just a little way from home so I carried on running for the last 30s.
My pace based on this jeff was as good as some of the full runs I did back in February
Would like to go further and do more but under strict orders “don’t go too fast” “don’t go too far” humpf!
Oh well it’s about time I washed these leggings. They are my only size large which means they comfortably fit, but it is almost Halloween and I have a whole load of spooky leggings to try and squeeze into. Let’s see if my body remembers how to be a medium again or if I pass out from being squeezed too tight.

4th run
Breathing is improving again now and no heel pain so all good
Made some lovely roasted tomatoes and basil soup last night so that’s lunch sorted today and tomorrow
275 cal for those counting and 50p per portion

20 minutes of bliss!
So happy I can get outside again.

Running 2-2.15 mins then walk 1 minute
So far that’s going well, not sure when to step it up or how, do I:
1. Run 2.30 min walk 1 min
2. Run 2 min walk 45 sec
3. Run 2 min walk 1 min but go further?

Who knows?

Today I am happy that’s all I am worrying about

Woke up at 4 with painful legs, thought “really! Really it’s only been one run”
Then I realised this wasn’t pain, it was DOMS, DOMS is an ache not pain
Ache is good
Ache reminds me the muscles have worked
We like ache!
So …. I did it again!
Feet still fine and great to get outside.
Followed by eggs for brekkie and I’m ready to Face the world 😄😄😄

I went running!! Yay ( well jeffing actually but I went)
It felt great!
Paris was a lot of walking 19000 steps, 16000 steps 11500 steps all in totally unsuitable shoes and whilst we did all this walking we saw soooooo many runners running along the river and through the pretty gardens in the sunshine and more than ever I was determined to get out there in the drizzle this morning.
20 minutes and I feel energised!
Beam me up scotty I’m on a high!

I’m now 7 trips in to the osteopath and I feel like the pain in my foot has finally, finally started to disappear.
He’s given me a new exercise where I try to arch my foot but keep the ball if my foot on the ground, don’t turn my feet over, clench my bum and wiggle my toes-it’s a bit tricky 😳😳
He’s also told me to go jeffing.
3km 2 times a week week one then 3 times a week. 1 min walk 2 min run.
I’m a bit nervous to be honest. It’s been a while and I just don’t want any more pain. But it would be nice to be out there again
On the plus side, running did make me into a pancake chest. Back up 2 bra sizes! Always a silver lining
Photo here of mass cook up bolognaise, chilli and soup. 6 portions of each for 2 of us ( girls both gone to uni now) should keep me going for a while.
And my attempt at curly girly hair using my daughters “curl it in a pony tail “ technique

Hello my lovelies!!
It’s been a while…. The weight and exercise is not going well.

So… what’s been happening ?

After the February challenge I was in so much pain in my foot that when it came to the training run the next weekend I sat in bed crying at the thought of going out and hurting myself all over again

I gave up my place at the LLHM which I had so been looking forward to

The next day my LLHM T-shirt turned up which was such a kick in the teeth

I decided to give slim fast another try, the weight loss may help the foot. I did lose a bit of weight by basically not eating. It’s not healthy and it is certainly not sustainable

I then listened to a book which I now have a lot of faith in. It’s called why we eat too much. Anyway the line which stuck with me was “ what if you skipped the diet and went straight to the maintenance phase” it all made a lot LOT of sense about why diets don’t work, what we should be eating, and what we shouldn’t be eating. It’s not just about calories it’s about hormones, genes, processed food, environment, omega 3 and 6, metabolism- all sorts of things.

After listening to the book I gave up dieting for good. For all the starving on s**tty shakes on slimfast I barely lost any weight.

I have put on 3lb since 1st May but I have eaten the best food. Cooked breakfast every day, no toast, lots and lots of fish and eggs, barely any sugar, lots of meat, lots of cups of tea! I’ve been Cooking loads, and prepping lunches for work.

I am not worried about the 3lb, it’s my body adjusting to a proper healthy diet after about 7 years of yo yo ing

I know that if I cut out processed foood, cut out sugar and eat good stuff I will adjust and lose weight in a way that is truly life long.

I am desperate to get out running again.

I have finally decided to go to the osteopath. The best best news is he doesn’t think it’s PF!! Woop woop!!! I have hope again

I have a load of exercises but he is sure I’ll be running again soon

I also buggered my shoulder up having tried to go back to body pump!

What a numpty

Anyway! Onwards!!
