Had the most unique request this week - can you make a small black and white football for a pigeon?! He had worn his last one out. I took up the challenge, and here he is, very happy with his new ball!

After today's successful drop spindle session with a couple of lovely ladies, I decided to match my mood and spin some sunshine! I focus a lot on keeping my spinning even quite often, but today, inspired by seeing the wonderful texture one of my ladies was creating quite by chance with her drop spindle, I decided to go back to my roots and look for the irregularities in texture once more. My other 'student' was producing a beautiful, fine yarn I was simply quite jealous of, to produce such even results with a drop spindle. I hope they continue on their fibre journey and explore the possibilities now open to them. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!
Very excited to show you a brand new range of custom made weaving frames, in collaboration with nickysbespokegifts! Soon available in kit form as an affordable introduction to frame weaving at The Art Place in Chelmsford :)
About to deliver my brand new drop spindle starter kits to The Art Place! Each spindle has been handmade and painted white so you can personalise them, and the kit comes with full instructions and 100 grams of fibre to get you spinning. Wool supplies are also now available. Workshops coming soon, so watch this space!
He also needed, NEEDED an AT-AT walker. He has built a Hoth base to defend out of Lego.

A lovely session with Primary School aged youngsters yesterday morning at The Art Place, all weaving away from the heart.
'There is nothing more wonderful then what the unconscious mind creates'
Wise words spoken by Misao Jo, founder of Saori weaving, whose perceived 'mistakes' judged by a professional weaver in Japan led her to found the movement of Saori weaving. Weaving from the heart and soul, embracing differences and so called flaws, and celebrating uniqueness and individuality. This morning I am introducing primary school children to this concept in The Art Place, Chelmsford.
Going to have some fun this evening painting these mini magnets and fairy houses I cast this weekend with the young people from InterAct!
From the pink and white marshmallow of merino and silk to a fine, 2 ply yarn, 188 grams, balled and ready for a project. I added a pinch of pastel colours to break the blend up a little.
Today's project - blue blossom. Doesn't exist in nature as far as I know, but it certainly is pretty!
Oh no, it's the...Gruffalo! Made for my mum's pre-school to help bring storytelling time all the more magical!
A few miniature hydrangea stems ready for The Art Place.
A few more stems made.
Practising a new pattern - lily of the valley. A bit fiddly, but worth it (I hope!)
Latest commission of using Spanish Water dog wool sent to me by a loving owner to create the accent white stripes in this woven alpaca scarf. Created with handspun, locally sourced fleece and woven on the rigid heddle loom. Hope she likes it :)
Today's unexpected project...my wonderful nan passed away and her funeral was on Wednesday. Rather than let all of the flowers go to waste, I collected a few and had a go at eco-dyeing a silk scarf that had been waiting for a project. I over-dyed it with a pale blue to fill in the white patches. I'm giving it to mum as a small keepsake. It's incredible how different the colours come out when dyeing!
A few eternal spring daffodils bloomed into life among some other joyful creations delivered to The Art Place yesterday :)
A few spring makes for The Art Place; my 6 daffodils sold out within the week! Let's see how well my little chunky chicks sell! Better make some more flowers.
My daft pup Sadie likes the spinning motion! Just whizzing up some black alpaca for a custom scarf order featuring...dog wool (but not from her!)
After losing my mojo for a few weeks following the passing of my beautiful nanny Grace, I finally found a glimmer of creativity and decided to blend and spin pink and white merino with silk. No project in mind, the colours just felt right.
Finally completed another fireplace rug, woven with core-spun locally sourced alpaca and commercial merino on my wheel, and warped with thick cotton. Completely organic, with 100% natural colours. It's heavy, chunky, soft and luxurious. Soon available at The Art Place.
Finished a chocolate brown merino and electric blue silk scarf, all hand blended, spun and woven on my rigid heddle loom. Now available at The Art Place.
A rainbow Pegasus for a girls 8th birthday today! Happy Birthday Angela! X
