Match result.
HARTLEPOOL YOUTH 2 V 2 GREENS.
Started the season with a hard fought away draw today.
Sloppy 1st goal when there was no pressure on the 2nd ball in, which led to their striker getting on the end of the cross to make it 1-0..
Lads were soon level through Alfie..
A throw in found coley, coley with a flick on.
Alfies determination to win the ball was excellent then from the tightest of angles he scored...
1-1.
The lads were dominating the half and took the lead through Charlie.. 1-2 greens...
The lads had a great chance to make it a 3rd but their keeper pulled off a superb save..
Halftime 2-1.
2nd half..
Punished 2 mins after some really sloppy defending.
Communication was lacking and Hartlepool got level..🤬
The rest of the half was pretty level.
The lads were denied a Stine wall penalty with 10 mins to go, the ref clearly didn't have the guts to award it..
We did have 1 or 2 chances to get a 3rd but the final ball wasn't good enough..

We did control the game for long periods of the match but alot of our play was negative, we went backwards.
But when we got the ball moving quick using the midfield we were very dangerous....

Goals Alfie & Charlie..

MOM ALFIE

Gives us something to build on..

Next match is home on Wednesday against crook..

Another fantastic tournament for the Chester-Le-Street U16’s Greens.
Winning the plate for the 2nd year running.
Losing 1 game and only conceding 1 goal all tournament.
Good to see different scorers aswell with Mason and Owen both scoring winners..
A semi final win on penalties 5-4 got us through to the final to face prem opposition Hebburn.
The lads were superb and deserved the win, a great finish from Tom.

This will give the lads a massive confidence boost going into the new season.

WELL DONE GREENS 👏 ⚽️

MATCH RESULT
SOUTHMOOR 1 V 2 GREENS
Great way to end a very difficult season with a 2-1 win
Our football today was much better than previous weeks, we played out from the back a lot and didn't panic in possession..
Kalib having very little to do for most of the match, he did pop up with an assist for our 1st goal, a free kick from mid way in our half found smithy and he lobbed the keeper. Great ball and great finish..
2nd half was pretty much the same, we scored a 2nd through coley from a great in swinging corner from Tom..
2-0.
We should of scored a few more in that 2nd half but it just didn't happen..
Southmoor got a goal back after another dodgy ref decision, free kick swung in and a FREE header for the southmoor attacker..
2-1.
That's how it finished.
It was definitely a bad tempered match, ref didn't help at all..
Our lads mainly kept their cool...

So well done to the lads for keep going during this prem season, thanks to the parents for coming week in week out, I know at times it's been difficult to watch, thanks also go to Tom (coach), the rational thinker on the coaching team..😁
Thanks for all the support during the season.
Next season we'll be back in div 1 and we'll look to be much more competitive in this division..

Last but not least, thanks to our sponsors for the season, your support was greatly appreciated..

MATCH RESULT.
Quakies 4 - 0 Greens.

Excellent 1st half, coming in at halftime 1-0 down and it could have easily been 0-0..
2nd half thier goals came from errors..
BUT the lads were excellent tonight against a team who beat us 12-1 last time we played them, great to see how much the lads have improved over a very difficult season..

MOM
This went to archie, winning most of his battles while trying to drive the team forward.👏👏

There was some excellent performances out there tonight.
Another toughy on saturday away to whickham, the lads just need to approach that match the same they did tonight..

2 Games to go!

MATCH RESULT
GREENS 0 V 5 WHICKHAM

Very tough opposition today.
Probably the best team we've come up against...
for long periods we were in the game.
Conceded 2 poor 1st half goals but the lads still battled on.
We had a few half chances but couldn't find the finish..
5 mins into the 2nd we conceded a penalty, never a pen, dalton winning the ball with a superb challenge, kalib very unlucky as he got his fingers to the ball but just couldn't keep it out..
Whickham scored another 2 goals to make it 5-0..

The lads ran their socks off today, alot playing their 4th or 5th game in a week and with us not having any subs it was always going to be a struggle even more so when Charlie had to go off after a bad challenge from their keeper..

So don't be too down hearted with the result, 3 games to go in the prem...

Mom.
Again 2 or 3 lads could have got it, archie in cdm nice and strong and put himself about.
Tom up top then out on the left never stopped running all match..
But again MOM went to Owen, playing with a bruised rib after Wednesdays match, was excellent, winning most of battles.

Well done lads..

HETTON 3 V 0 GREENS..

The lads were excellent tonight, definitely didn't deserve a 3-0 loss as I felt we were always in the game.

The pitch was a disgrace, no lines and so bobbley

Loads of fantastic performances all over the pitch.
Oli G, Archie, smithy to name a few..
Mom could have gone to anyone but the ref picked out Owen, who put in some excellent challenges..

So we'll done lads
Top of the league on saturday...

See you then..

MATCH RESULT.

GREENS 2 V 1 HETTON

We setup 4-5-1 today, which we worked on in training Wednesday. The plan being to let hetton have the ball in their half and concentrate on our shape and look to hit them on the break, yeah it put us under pressure but the plan worked really well.
We scored through some great running from Charlie ould down the right, his cross found Twinkletoes(Fozzy) at the back post for an easy tap in.
1-0 greens.
We rode our look at times but the lads always recovered or kalib saved us..
HALFTIME
1-0
2nd half we just asked the lads to keep going the same as the 1st half, the next goal was crucial and we got it to put us 2-0 up, from a corner the ball fell to Owen and he bundled the in from close range..
2-0 Greens.
Hetton went 4 up front so we changed to 5-4-1 left Charlie up front and asked the lads to try and see the game out.
With 1 min to go hetton scored...
2-1 greens
We had a couple of nervy injury minutes but we got our 1st win in the PREMIER LEAGUE and to do it against a team of Hettons calibre makes even more sweeter.

Goals from
FOZZY 1 (TWINKLETOES)
OWEN 1 against one of his former teams.

MOM was a really difficult one to choose today, there was some standout performances today, Mason, I thought was excellent today, Archie very strong, oli G driving us forward and Owen dictating things at the back..BUT, we've gone for Kalib 2nd game in row he's come up with a very strong performance..

Well done Kalib 👏 ⚽️

I must say the Team today gave it their all, the lads ran themselves into the ground but not one of them gave up, they all backed each other up and that was great to see, the team spirit is absolutely fantastic..⚽️⚽️⚽️

Well done greens..

Golds 3-1 Greens

We were by far the better team.
Fell behind early on to soft goal.
We had some glorious chances to in the 1st and 2nd half and we only converted 1..
Their 2nd was a decent finish but as last week it fell to an unmarked player in the box.
Their 3rd really killed the game off scoring just after we should have equalised.

If we scored a fraction of what we created we'd have won that match comfortably...

Great attitude all through the match, great battling from everyone.

Goal scorer was Coley

Match report.
GREENS 1 V 2 CLEVELAND HALL

We set up 4-2-3-1 today.
Cleveland had kick off and straight away we nearly conceded! Slow to react to the knock on, some great work from rueben to keep cleveland out...
After that we took control of the game. Passing was really good, the low block was working when we needed it..
We took the lead midway through the half, a flick on from mason found Charlie out wide, he ran in the box and unselfishly squared the ball for fozzy to blast the ball in..
1-0 GREENS and definitely deserved..

Shortly after we nearly shot ourselves in the foot, what looked like a clear penalty wasn't given and we got away with o e there..
As in previous games we created some good goal scoring chances but we just couldn't find the finish.
Half time

I was really pleased with the way the lads performed in the 1st and asked them to keep it going.

Smithy and Tom came on for the 2nd half replacing coley and fozzy.

As in the 1st half we were dominant, oli hitting the post and then Charlie hitting the crossbar with his header from toms great cross, then putting the rebound over.. The lads were pushing for a 2nd goal and really did deserve it..
With 25 mins to go cleveland hall equalised, from the corner the ball was headed in although there did look like there was a foul on will but nothing was given..
1-1
The lads lost a bit shape and then with 15mins to play cleveland hall took the lead against the run of play, they managed to get a shot in that came off the post and hit one of our players and went In..totally undeserved..
1-2 cleveland..

We made a few changes, moved oli to cb and put dalton up top with Charlie and went 4-4-2, the lads kept trying to get the equaliser our play deserved but we just couldn't get the ball in the goal..

Very unlucky result but I was really please with how the squad performed to..
I couldn't find fault with anyone as everyone gave their all....👍👊

Goal came from FOZZY.

Match result..
Greens 3 v 6 southmoor..

3rd round of the cup to start the new-year..
Southmoor started as the better team. Greens giving the ball away from kick off..🤦
As the half progressed the lads grew into the game, they got the ball down and played decent stuff, our final third play let us down.
Southmoor keeper very lucky to stay on the pitch early on, dalton through on goal and it looked like the keeper fouled him 30 yards out but the ref thought the keeper had won the ball and the lads were given a corner..
Really should of had 2 maybe 3 goals before southmoor scored a stunner.
Ball into the box headed away then volleyed in! Great finish...
0-1 southmoor..
Greens weren't behind for long, some great play from oli, archie and Charlie found fozzy in the middle of the goal for a tap in..
1-1
This gave the lads a boost and they scored a 2nd via wills free kick, 25ish yards out and what a strike..
2-1 greens..
Again the lads attacked but squandered some really good chances to extend the lead...
Just before halftime the lads conceded, a fierce shot from 20 yards palmed in by kalib..
Halftime 2-2.
2nd half..
A error early on saw us fall behind, a quick throw out and no communication saw the ball fall to their player who finished well past kalib..
2-3
The game got scrapy, playing into southmoors hands..
Loads of time wasting aswell as tackles flying in...
The lads eventually got on level terms with archie scoring after some great team play..
3-3.
5 mins after leveling southmoor were awarded a penalty, a rash challenge in the box and it was pen all day..3-4 southmoor..

We had to make changes to the formation to try and get bqck into the game, unfortunately we conceded another 2 goals.
😫

I thought again we were the better team, we played some great stuff today just a few things let us down..

We have southmoor to play twice in the league so we get the chance to put this result right...

MATCH RESULT.

ESCOMB 7-1 GREENS.

Early kick off for the lads today on a really poor pitch..
For the best part of the 1st half we were the better team, we took the lead through coley after some great work from Alfie.
Literally 3 mins later Escomb win a pen. We just didn't clear the ball, there was 2 or 3 chances to get rid but we took 1 too many touches and then conceded the pen.
Escomb scored to make it 1-1..
With 3 mins to go we gave away a sloppy free kick on our right side, a ball into the back post not dealt with and their header coming off the post to one of thier lads who reacted quickest made it 2-1 to Escomb, it then got worse, a ball to no-one really was picked up by us but no communication AGAIN saw us lose the ball and escomb score a 3rd..
Halftime
3-1 escomb..
Coaches felt it was harsh on the lads because we were the better team but they took their chances, we didn't.!
2nd half..
We asked the lads to give the same effort in the 2nd half but I think it's one of the worst half's of football we've played, we conceded another 4 goals!
2 were offside but we were just too nice again, running alongside players when really we've got to be thinking could we commit the foul to stop the attack...

Result
7-1

Goal from hazza

I did think we could win this match today as we're improving each week, 2nd half was a setback which we need to put right next week...!

GREENS 1 V 3 SPENNYMOOR

excellent performance today from the lads, 4 lads playing with illness did tremendous to get through that 80 minutes of football..
We were the better team from the start, we just missed our chances..
Instead of being 2 or 3 up we fell behind, spenny took a quick throw in that caught us off guard and we conceded...
About 10 mins later we conceded again, direct from the corner.
One of those things, wind took it in just inside the back post..

The lads didn't deserve to be losing the match and kept battling, passing the ball and creating chances..
Halftime 0-2 spenny.

2nd half was pretty much the same. Again we were the better team but again we conceded a 3rd.
Oli adjudged to of handled the ball, but it just looked like the player got his foot to the ball, ref gave a pen🤷‍♂️.
Luckily he changed his mind after speaking to dalton. From the free kick though spenny scored, decent free kick around the wall into the kalibs left hand corner.
0-3 spenny...
We change formation to 4-4-2, put dalton and coley up top to see if we could get any joy..
Again we created some good chances but just missed the finish..
We got a goal back after fozzy was fouled in the box, the resulting pen was cooley finished by dalton..
1-3
We should have scored a 2nd soon after, fozzy again running with the ball into the box, riding a few challenges and his goal bound effort was superbly saved by spennys keeper..

Result
1-3 to spenny..

Goal scorer
DALTON

These performances are improving every week, the lads are progressing really well also..
So well done to all of them..

Match report...
After a squad restructure during the week, we came up against washy lions from the 1st division..
I feel we started the game on the front foot as we looked to get an early goal..
Unfortunately, after 9 mins, we conceded, poor marking from the corner, and a well taken goal from Washy saw us fall 1-0 behind...
To be fair the lads their heads didn't drop, we were by far the better team, the lads got the ball down and played some good passing football, it was our pass in the final 3rd that let us down..
The lads really should have finished that half with at least 3 goals, 2 headers from 2 yards missed the target a 3rd from Owen went over the bar...
Halftime
We made a few changes, archie going into CB dalton going up front..
5 mins in the changed worked, some good work from Harry S & Hazza, found dalton in the box, and he finished well..
1-1..
The lads sort of had a crazy 5 mins where they were shooting from anywhere, some good and some not so good...😁
Washy then scored, a pass back to standin keeper reuben and their striker pressed the ball and won it from reuben then eventually going in to give washy the lead...
1-2 washy...
The lads kept going though and they were soon back on level terms, this time through Charlie, from on the right wing he carried the ball Into the box and finished well off the post to make it 2-2..
With about 5 minutes to go, willie, let rip with a superb left footed shot from about 20 yards, great strike and great 1st goal for the team...3-2 greens..
A fitting goal to win the match..

3 set pieces cost us today, not going with the runner...

BUT, the performance level was really good, bar far the best performance of the season, that's the attitude we need from tye lads.
Reuben doing excellent in goal while archie had a super game in cm.
I do feel the lads deserved something out of that match as did thier coach..

Match report.
Greens were up against the well established prem team Escomb.
Change of formation, we started 5-3-2.
The match was pretty even, we had 2 chances to score but their keeper pulled off 2 superb saves to keep it at 0-0..
Midway through the half escomb won a free kick, the resulting cross went in via ethans head for an own goal, nowt he could have done about it.
0-1 escomb.
Soon it was 0-2, the ball was lost in midfield which left us 3 v2, the ball came in and there was no communication from the defender or gk, both left the ball and gave thier striker a tap in..
0-2..
Escomb made it 0-3 before halftime.
Halftime.
2nd half.
We made a few changes but 3 mins in we conceded a 4th a d the game was getting away from the lads...
A change of formation was needed.
We went 4-3-3 & looked better, we started to get at escomb and we started playing some nice football..
We won a free kick which we took early, ethan crossed the ball and Owen FINALLY scored a header..
Great cross and great header..
1-4
This brought the lads to life!
Pressing improved and we finally got a some triangles made....
Ellis was excellent, putting thier back line under pressure..
We scored a 2nd through fozzy, finishing well over the keeper..
2-4
Full time..

Goals from
Owen & fozzy.

Overall I think we could have got something out of this game.
Cut the mistakes out and we'd have either drawn or won that match..
We've shown we can match these prem teams as that 2nd half performance was really good but when we give teams a 4-0 head start we will always struggle..
Very positive 2nd half so let's focus on that and push on from that 2nd half performance.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Oh and happy birthday Tom..

When the new home kit sponsor John Quinn from MedCover UK Ltd dropped into our training session to formally meet the lads and coaches yesterday morning he was very impressed by what he saw. Great team photo and I’m sure you will agree the kits look amazing!! When we get all the lads and coaches together we will surely be getting another photo of the whole squad. John did mention that he almost had his hand gripped off by our CAPTAIN (C) Dalton 😂

A massive thank you for the home strip sponsorship and Welcome to the Greens Family JOHN we’re very happy to have you 👊🙏🏼🙌
