Cats, dogs and ferrets thrive on vegan diets. Fact.

I only realised recently that there are "apologist vegans" and "abolitionist vegans" and the two sects do not mix well lol. WELL NOT REALLY FUNNY.

1st Firstly making statements that a vegan balanced nutritionist prepared diet for dogs and cats does harm without supporting evidence is not valid.

2ndly there are millions of healthy long lived vegan cats and dogs around now since years. Several cats over 20 years old currently thriving Bramble dog famous lived 25 years healthy vegan fed and several of her companion dogs similar long healthy lives. For decades peasants fed dogs veggie slops and they thrived.

3rdly The 1st principle of Veganism is..."animals are not ours to use" so one is not vegan if not respecting that basic principle.

4thly Animals are not "meat" they have names.

5th Let no one talk about "lack of choice" of what to eat about a pet dog or cat when not also recognising the very obvious but ignored "lack of choice to live" of the victims that humans "unnaturally" keep as prisoners, breed and kill 90 percent of them less than 6 months old.

My dogs hyper energy needs ages now 9 and 8. No issue of "where do their get their protein" nor my healthy adult vegan fed cat who would be dead within weeks if not getting the nutrients a cat needs.

Meat is not a scientific word..."nutrients" is. That is what any animal needs to thrive.

Weak traces of the virus were first detected on the Pomeranian last week. It was initially suspected that the dog was only contaminated with the virus, rather than infected — experts say the disease can survive for hours on surfaces such as door handles or hand rails. However, further swab tests this week suggested the animal had a low level of infection.

Authorities are now awaiting the results of blood tests for a final confirmation. The dog’s owner has already been confirmed as carrying the disease. During the Sars outbreak in 2002-2003, eight cats and one dog were infected. Sars was caused by a virus that jumped from a wild animal — the civet cat — to humans. Scientists believe the new coronavirus may followed a similar path. Can pets become coronavirus carriers? Animal welfare experts worry the case of the Hong Kong Pomeranian could lead to panic and put pets at risk. Historically, pets have got the worst of it during outbreaks of disease. During the London plague in the 17th century, for instance, fears that cats and dogs could spread the disease led to their mass slaughter. But scientists said there was no proof that pets could infect either their owners or other animals with the coronavirus. “There is no evidence that dogs play a role in the spread of this human disease or that they become sick,” the World Organisation for Animal Health said in a statement this week. Ian Mackay, University of Queensland virologist, told the Financial Times last week domestic animals were unlikely to become a significant route for human infection, while Hong Kong University microbiologist Ho Pak-leung said the chance of dog-to-human transmission was “very small”. “Even if the cats and dogs cough droplets, they would not go too far,” Dr Ho said. It was more likely that humans would infect their dogs than the other way around, the experts said. “If anything, this highlights that we humans still need to be more careful to avoid infecting other loved ones in our household, furry or not,” Dr Mackay said.

Can pets infect other pets? Thomas Sit, assistant director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation in Hong Kong, said that during the Sars outbreak, the infected cats carried the virus longer than the dog that was infected. However, there was no evidence that cats could transmit it to other cats. “To date, there is no evidence that companion animals can spread the disease. Therefore, there is no justification in taking measures against companion animals which may compromise their welfare,” the World Organisation for Animal Health said.

However, experts are also urging people to take precautions. In a Facebook post cuddling his pet Schnauzer, Hong Kong University’s Dr Ho said: “Dogs should remain a safe social distance [from] one another.” He also urged people to clean up after their dogs in the street. The Pomeranian has shown no symptoms of the illness. Should infected animals be quarantined? Hong Kong authorities are “strongly advising” the quarantine of “mammalian pet animals including dogs and cats” belonging to people who have been infected with coronavirus.

By Thursday afternoon, just one cat and one dog aside from the Pomeranian were under quarantine, and both had tested negative. The World Organisation for Animal Health said keeping animals that test positive for the virus away from unexposed animals was best practice.

Choosing to kill a farm owned animal to feed a pet owed animal is an easy choice, made based simply on the "use" the pet owned animal gives us pleasure from, as compared to the no same "use" the farm owned animal has to us.

The choice to kill farm owned animals to feed pet owned animals is not ethical or fair. More lives are taken killed than if the 1 pet animal life were taken if not fed vegan.

No animal ownership is the natural ideal, removing all the real problem of unnatural non human animal ownership by hairless ape human animals.

Feed vegan is the only fair respect of animals forced to be owned by humans.
