Autumn silently merges into Winter….the grim Covid-clouds gather once again, a doughty but cheerful figure emerges from the forest and shakes the leaves from it’s coat. Is it The Green Man? No…..it’s the spirit of The RavenOnline Folk Club!! 😊 To cheer you up (hopefully) during what looks an uncertain festive season, we are posting (on Facebook and YouTube) a RavenOnline Christmas Special on Boxing Day at 8-30pm! Producer Chris Lee has prepared a sumptuous Yuletide repast for you consisting of highlights of The Raven Christmas Party 2021! Featuring Full House, Chris & Debbie Lee, The Time Bandits, Ben Robertson (with guest Phoebe Rees!), Will Riding and Bill Malkin…it’s a grand show! Hope to see you there. It’s Week 67 here at The RavenOnline and if the government’s plans stay on course it could be our penultimate week! If all the COVID restrictions are lifted on Monday 19th July we’re hoping to have a Singers’ Night at 8-30pm in The Bear & Billet on Sunday 25th July. Named in honour of Roman Emperor Julius Caesar (essentially by Julius Caesar!) from Bastille Day, World Emoji Day and Chocolate Day to Shark Awareness Day and Take Your Plants For A Walk Day, July is a well-storied month of High Summer, when you can celebrate pretty much anything you like….like all the other months! This Sunday (4th July) in addition to it being American Independence Day, we at The Raven Online are celebrating Folk Music…like we do every Sunday! Maybe see you there? Q.O’B.

Sunday 20th June is fast approaching and there’s good news 😊 and bad news 🙁 I’m afraid! The bad news is that Week 64 is not going to be the last RavenOnline Folk Club…we’ll not be having a real ‘Live’ Folk Club in The Bear & Billet on Sunday 27th June after all! The good news is that Week 64 is not going to be the last Raven Online Folk Club because it’ll be followed by Week 65 and so on until we CAN have a proper live one! Confused? I am!! 😂 Q.O’B.

When, at a Full House ‘Zoom’ meeting on Thursday 26th March 2020 (three days after the first lockdown started), we decided that we would ‘do something online’ to keep The Raven Folk Club going in a virtual manner we had no idea that we would still be doing it fourteen months later! This week is the 60th edition of The Raven Online ‘Lockdown’ Folk Club, as we called it back then…….incredible! Join us at 8-30pm on Sunday 23rd May for another wonderfully varied selection of great folk music!

Miss live music and the atmosphere of a live gig? For thirteen months, save for a very few weeks late last Summer, when we could briefly have a ‘socially-distanced’ outdoor session, there’s been no live music at all. Nobody really knows how long it will be until these simple joys of life will return but let’s hope it’s soon! All is not lost though...at least there’s The RavenOnline Folk Club every Sunday at 8-30pm!! See you there!

It seems an appropriate quote in these difficult days. We’ll honour that spirit in song and tune at The RavenOnline in 2021! He also wrote, ‘Ring out the False and ring in the True’!
