𝕂𝕠𝕛𝕚𝕔 𝔸𝕔𝕚𝕕 - Derived from a variety of fungi & organic substances, it is used to diminish dark areas resulting from excessive pigmentation in the skin. Contains some anti microbial properties which means it’ll help to fight off common types of bacterial issues such as acne.

𝔸𝕣𝕓𝕦𝕥𝕚𝕟 - Arbutin is a naturally occurring derivative of hydroquinone. It is used as a topical skin lightening agent for treating hyperpigmentation. It is categorised as a plant extract and tyrosinase inhibitor.

Microneedling is also called COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY for a good reason. Studies have shown up to 400% increase in collagen and elastin post treatment!👀😍

1️⃣ The tiny micro-injuries from microneedling boost collagen and elastin to fight fine lines & deeper wrinkles. Now, this treatment not only improves wrinkles but any discolouration from ageing & loss of elasticity will benefit too!

There are literally sooo many things that cause breakouts & these are the little things that could have a big impact!👊🏼 Of course, the main causes are bacteria + clogged pores, but here’s what could be making it worse!!🚫

Dairy 🧀 - Milk consumption can increase levels of hormones that stimulate sebum (oil) which can cause congestion 🐮 I always tell my clients to cut down for two weeks and see if they notice less inflammation, give it a go!!

Dirty Pillowcases 🛏 - Change them regularly & switch to silk! Cotten pillowcases absorb bacteria, silk doesn’t✨ also cotton causes friction which irritates your skin & makes inflammation worse. MAKE THE SWITCH TO SILK!

Stress 🤕 - Increased stress releases hormones including cortisol which again, increases oil production = clogged pores = breakouts!! 😤

Incorrect products🧴- PLEASE. Please. Stop listening to youtubers, tiktoks, or your friends recommendations. Seek advice from skincare professionals, ask us questions, we love to point you in the right direction! Remember, what works for someone else might not work for you, which is why it’s so important to use products tailored to your unique skin!☺️

Not cleansing properly🧼 - Cleanse for 60 seconds, AM + PM. Water at a mild temperature, not too hot, not too cold.

Greasy foods🍔 - Be mindful of what you put into your body, that’s all!! No judging here cause I’ve been naughty recently 🐷

Dirty Phone📲 - Imagine all the dirt + bacteria on that thing, ew!🦠 Every time it touches your face, or you use it & then put your hands on your face - bacteria is spreading!

Sleeping in makeup 💄 - besides from accelerating ageing, it can cause so much congestion! Bin the face wipes & oil cleanse it all off!💋

Drinking more water does not mean your skin is more hydrated......!!

Why is that?

Although hydration is very important for your overall health, it’s not as clear cut as drinking litres and litres of water to improve your skins hydration.

Your skin is made up of three layers:
The outer layer (the epidermis).
The underlying layer (the dermis).
The subcutaneous tissue.

If the outermost layer of the epidermis doesn’t contain enough water, skin will lose elasticity and feel rough.

Despite this connection, however, there’s a lack of research showing that drinking extra water has any impact on the skin hydration or appearance.

♡ I’m definitely an esthetician that believes in the “less is more” approach to skincare, however, in my opinion, the foundation to skin health and a good routine is a proper cleanse. ♡

♡ That being said, skipping washing your face on occasion won’t do much harm, but it’s definitely not something I would recommend on a regular or long-term basis. ♡

Think about what has accumulated on your skin by the end of the day ... pollution, smog, dirt, oil, sweat. Plus, you’ve likely applied skincare products, suncream and make-up (if you wear it) in the morning. All of this needs to be properly cleansed off. Plain water will simply NOT do the job. 🤚🏻 Otherwise, it can lead to long-term skin issues like clogged and enlarged pores, inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis (rash) or acne in addition to contributing to prematurely ageing to the skin due to the free radicals breaking down collagen and elastin. While there are few absolutes in skincare as we are all unique, a proper nighttime cleanse is something I would never recommend skipping!! 🧖🏼‍♀️🌿

𝕊𝕠 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕤𝕜𝕚𝕡𝕡𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕔𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕖?
Just about the ONLY time I would ever consider saying to skip this cleanse is if you have EXTREMELY reactive, sensitive or very dry skin. Even then I would still recommend finding a well-formulated, ultra-gentle, cleanser or even a quick swipe of a toner would still be beneficial to remove sweat (we all sweat a bit while we sleep!) and skincare products you’ve applied the night before.

In my opinion, if you are just splashing with water and applying your day time skincare on top that is basically applying your products to a dirty canvas.

And if “it works for you” please, read the above again... even if you can’t see it with the naked eye or right now you are still likely causing long-term issues and premature ageing!! 🤍🖤
