Electric Violence (2022). A film by myself and @fantasticfilm. Using 2 formats, #super8film and #vhsc, we initially shot the stock footage back in 1998. The film was previously titled “Digital Massacre” and was proposed to have a plot/narrative as well as dialogue. The stock video and super 8mm film footage was thought to have disappeared into obscurity, but alas we found the footage, thus a new take on the film is brought to you. Scanned and digitised using #reflectascanner and edited using #finalcutprox and #logicprox. This will be my final film for a while, at least until I use my last unused reel of #kodak super 8mm film. Ok I'm sure most of you know I have a love for film. Around 23 years ago Ian Grogan aka @fantasticfilm and I made a short horror film called TRANSpersonality, using VHS-C video as well as Super 8mm film. From the archive (practically destroyed film stock) I managed to scan in the super 8mm film, restore and digitise so I could sucessfully edit using Final Cut Pro X. You will see that the film has been purposefully damaged in order to create a sense of fear and voyeurism. Sadly the film can no longer be run through a projector due to its deterioration. Owing to my love for avante garde, minimalist and microtonal style of music, I created a soundtrack to accompany this new re-imagination of our old film. The soundtrack comprises of various soundscapes as well as dark synthesiser tones. This film was made possible using the following tools - Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro. For now, I hope you enjoy the film as much as Ian and I had when we made it back in the 90's. For maximum effect, use a decent speaker system such as home cinema or a decent set of headphones.
