I often show my clients some points on their hands,relating to different areas of the body, which they can apply pressure to or massage themselves when they are feeling stressed or agitated, suffering from PMT or menopausal symptoms or just needing a bit of time out 💜

Thought I’d share this “handy” guide I found on the Humber and North Yorkshire Health & Care Partnership

🟢 Diaphragm - This can help to relax and open the chest area promoting deep, relaxed breathing to help soothe
any anxious or tense feelings.

🔴 Solar Plexus - This can help to soothe and rebalance any anxious or tense feelings, allowing the mind and body
a gentle pause to reset.

🩵 Heart (emotional centre) - This can help support our circulatory system and also help support our emotional wellbeing.

Light 🔵 Head & Brain (inc pituitary & hypothalamus) -
This can help to soothe any headaches, feelings of ‘brain fog’ allowing thoughts to clear. This can also help regulate body temperature, help regulation of hormones and can help aid sleep.

🔵 Pituitary - This is known as the ‘master hormonal gland’ and also helps the body release ‘feel good endorphins, helping to boost mood and soothe any feelings on an emotional rollercoaster.

🩷 Uterus 💜 O***y - This can help settle, soothe and balance the Ovaries and Uterus, especially for PMT, increasing circulation to support good health.

🟡 Thyroid- This can help support the body’s metabolism & increase energy together with being referred to as the ‘third O***y’ in Reflexology.

🟠 Adrenals - This can help to regulate our stress hormones, allowing us to feel calm together with helping the
body release its own natural anti-inflammatories.

🩶 Spine & Nervous System -
This can help cleanse and soothe our nervous system, promoting feelings and calmness and support as we work along our physical spine also.

Tomorrow, do something different & before you know it, they will all become part of your daily routine because they make you feel GOOD 🩵

Anyone else feeling like my daffodils this morning?? 🫣

This is just a wee a message to remind you that, contrary to popular belief, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP YOUR HEAD UP all of the time!!

It is ok to feel a bit rubbish some days, and want to stay under the duvet 😶

The important thing is to
•recognise how you’re feeling
•address these feelings
•accept these feelings
•don’t beat yourself up about having these feelings

More times than not these feelings will pass and you’ll feel your head lift all by itself ✨

Go easy on yourself 🩶

Blessed to have met Coná aka a few years ago, primarily because of our shared love of the water and its many benefits! 🌊

Her zest for life and for promoting body positivity are quite addictive, so I was very excited when I heard she and her husband were setting up a new business called 🩵

Last week I had the best day paddle boarding at their SUP Social event in Fermanagh.
Such good fun, meeting lots of new people, all on their own journeys, getting outdoors away from technology and phones, concentrating solely on not falling into the Erne 🤣

Be sure to check them out and give them a follow. You might even be tempted to step outside your comfort zone and head off to one of their events!!

Was reminded last week by just how much I love lying with my legs up the wall 🫣 🧘🏻‍♀️

I think you know by now how much I love to encourage little changes in your day to day life?
Well - this is something EVERYONE can do at home 🤗

The benefits are endless!! From relieving stress & anxiety, aiding digestion and blood flow & lowering blood pressure. If your suffer from migraines/headaches, back pain or restless legs, this is made for you.

Effort level is 0 🙌🏼

All you have to do is roll out a mat (if you have one) get your bum as close to the wall as you can & raise you legs up the wall (& I like my arms to be outstretched on the floor too - but that’s just me 😵‍💫) Maybe throw a little blanket over yourself and put on some calming music or a short breathing practice and basically just lie there for 10 minutes!!!

Now! Please don’t tell me you haven’t time for this 😯

She knows how much I love to talk about “looking after your JING” so I thought I’d share on here ✨

JING is one of the most important concepts of traditional Chinese medicine. It has an effect on your life from conception right through to old age!!

A good way to understand Jing, is to think of it as an “energy bank account”
It’s like a sum of money that your parents put into a bank account for you when you were conceived.
It’s a bucket of energy that’s intended to last you for your whole life – but its quantity varies, and some people get larger amounts of Jing from their parents than others.

Like a bank account, it’s okay to access some of that inherited energy from time to time, but not keeping a close eye on your accounts would see its balance decline quickly. Care needs to be taken to ensure that you keep it topped up.

Your level of Jing naturally starts to decline from mid-life onwards, & is considered responsible for many of the signs of ageing and menopausal symptoms we experience. So if we are entering this stage of life already running on fumes we are going to find ourselves in trouble.

Conserving your Jing for as long as possible, and topping it up will enable you to enjoy good health in your old age.

Your focus should be on leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle that incorporates habits that support your Jing and minimises those that deplete it. Obviously life has its ups & downs. Good days & bad! Being aware of these & dealing with them at the time will pay dividends…

Eat a nutritious, balanced diet. Remember, you top up your Jing with nutritive substances from the food and drink you consume
Get plenty of fresh air for the same reason
Exercise regularly – because if your body isn’t active, your Jing won’t be either.
Maintain a healthy balance between work and rest. Being overworked, overly busy or stressed is considered highly detrimental to Jing and on the other hand, having enough quality sleep helps to preserve it!!

Little habits make a big difference!

// CIRCADIAN RHYTHM //

Have you ever heard of this??

A strong circadian rhythm is VITAL to health!
It is the 24-hour internal clock in our brain that regulates cycles of alertness and sleepiness by responding to light changes in our environment. With our lives being so topsy turvy, working shifts, high stress levels, getting too much blue light from devices, our circadian rhythms have become confused and messed up resulting in poor sleep, lack of energy, hormone imbalance to name but a few 😵‍💫

The good news is that, with a little bit of effort, this can all be reversed or at least improved!!

It all starts in our eyes 👀 If we look back to caveman days, before clocks & alarms, we relied on the sun to tell us the time 🕰️
Sunrise & the light it gives off, signals the start of some of the most important systems in the body, giving us the right amount of hormone production for that time of day.

First thing in the morning, we actually want our cortisol levels higher to give us the get up & go approach to the day. As the day moves on and we reach sunset, the light changes and triggers different hormonal changes, most importantly the production of melatonin which promotes restful sleep 💤

You can see how our body gets confused 😕 Our stressed bodies have a continuous high level of cortisol throughout the day. On top of that, the amount of blue light from looking at devices at night time our body not knowing what time of the day it is and has it producing hormones we don’t actually need. All of a sudden our body clocks are up the left, no sleep, feeling knackered and into a downward spiral 🤯

By making a few simple changes like
•switching off devices at night
•wearing blue light blocking glasses
•checking out the sunrise (which is much easier at this time of year) and getting the light from it into your eyes,
Could actually make a massive difference to your life!! You must be consistent! No quick fixes here!! But you’ll really thank yourself 🥰

Not the ideal situation for a reflexologist 😳

Nevertheless, a little procedure on my hand, that needed done, is now ticked off ✔️ (although a slightly bigger bandage than anticipated!! 😂)

Just wanted to thank you all for your kind messages of support, really means a lot ❤️

Unfortunately this all means I’ll be out of action for around 4 weeks. But I’ll be on here sharing lots of information I’ve been learning over the past while, which I really hope you’ll find helpful in your self care routines ✨

Really excited (if not a little daunted!) to have started a new , pretty intensive, course all about HORMONES. I want to understand them better and learn how to help myself and my clients get on top of the multiple side effects of our hormones being unbalanced and out of whack!!

As “a woman of a certain age” I am most definitely dealing with peri / menopausal symptoms (the joys!!) but just 3 months into this course and the one thing that is VERY clear is that hormones are an essential part of our every day life, no matter what age we are and it’s not just all about periods & menopause.

If we have a better understanding of what our hormones actually do, we will be better equipped to know the signs when things aren’t right, & will know how to deal with it before it spirals into something more serious‼️

PREVENTION RATHER THAN CURE is the way we want to be thinking about our health.

As a holistic therapy, reflexology treats the body as a whole 🫶🏼
Every system, including the endocrine (hormonal) system is worked. If one system isn’t working properly it has a knock on effect, like a domino effect, until the body starts to struggle and we become unwell.

Being in control and having a healthy functioning endocrine system is literally life changing

A reflexology treatment will now be £40 and the Elim Pedicure Package will be £60.

Hope you’ve all enjoyed your Summer, whatever you got up to ☺️
In between the wind & rain 🫣
I did my VERY best to find those brief moments for an Al Fresco G&T 🥂

Sure isn’t that what life’s all about?? Finding the good (even though it’s very hard sometimes) and embracing it 🥰

Taking the positives from every situation, no mater how small, and using the negatives as a lesson can help to change your outlook on life and lift your spirits.

I’ve had a few clients in the past, who came for a reflexology treatment almost looking for me to find something wrong with them & feeling it was a waste of time & money when I didn’t 🫣
Instead of accepting that, I pointed out the positive things they had done - By taking that hour to themselves to find a quiet place, to rest and have a holistic therapy, actually helped to lower their heart rate, lower their blood pressure, increase their circulation, lower their stress levels and increase their energy levels.
Now!!! What’s not to like about that? ✨

When you come for a reflexology treatment you spend an hour getting your body into a state of relaxation - which the majority find extremely difficult might I just say!!

Depending on our chat beforehand, I will work on different points on the feet to encourage blood flow, which in turn encourages healing and helps lower the inflammation 🔥

Inflammation & stress come walking hand in hand into my treatment room every day and my job is to extinguish it!!

YOUR JOB is to leave my treatment room and carry on where we left off
❗️ie ❗️making little changes in your day to day routines to keep stress & inflammation at bay!! Not allowing it to consume & take over your life. It will always be there but the secret is to control it - DON’T LET IT CONTROL YOU 👊🏼

So, get outside, go for a walk, take deep breaths, let the sun 🤔 do it’s magic. Be still, listen to music, be mindful , pray, be thankful 🙏🏼

No one needs to know what you’re doing except YOU ⭐️

“THE MAGIC MOP BUCKET” 🫣

Certainly not the prettiest object in my little treatment room but most definitely a great start to your hour of relaxation

I love to give clients the opportunity to catch their breath and soak their feet for 5 minutes before beginning a reflexology treatment.

This is something you can easily do at home. Add some Epsom salts or a few drops of lavender or geranium oil and just slow down!!

Seriously, if you can’t find 10 minutes …….
