On Saturday 3rd August the CHAFVBC celebrated with family & friends of George Durrant a 100 year old Burma Star Veteran at a combined birthday & club BBQ in Crawley. He had a police escort and rode in a WW2 jeep provided by one of the club members Peter Hulme. It was a lovely day and everyone enjoyed themselves very much. George was also handed an Intelligence Corps tie by one of the members, George recited his Burma Star song and even played his minute harmonic that he has kept for all this time from his service days.

George you are an inspiration and the club is honoured to have you with us.

Yesterday after the drop in at 12.00 a veterans drumming therapy session was arranged by Charlie Purdie whose father Jim is a member of the group. Charlie is doing a masters degree at university and he wants to see the difference a drum therapy session makes before and after undertaking the session. The session was a very positive experience for everyone who was involved. Lots of laughter, some improvising, going wild, keeping the beat & rhythm as directed and going rouge (Jim) when you thought no one would notice. The video shows a small part of what the session was like. Thank you to Charlie & his parents for arranging this.

Happy D Day everyone, hope your all OK had a quick catch-up with Jimmy Justice yesterday, in our conversation about D Day he said 'I was there', now there not many who can say that today. He let me take a copy of some of his photos. He also had a newspaper from 7 Jun 44. I also included one of Jimmy's lines for the poem, its very pertinent. It was a great honour to meet up with him and have a social distancing chat. He and Joy are a great asset to the club and such a lovely couple.
