What can we say?! Dartmouth does it again 🥰🥂
It's a beautiful day on the Dartmouth coast! We might not have beaches in the centre of town, but less than 4 miles away these beautiful spots are considered local by us! With stunning views which ever way you turn - the classic Devon rolling hills stretching into sparkling blue seas
Europe's Cleanest Beach is minutes from Dartmouth Town Centre!
Source: https://www.express.co.uk/travel/articles/1923695/cleanest-beaches-europe-five-in-uk
Devon's Blackpool Sands beach has been declared the cleanest beach in Europe, and four other British beaches have made the top 15.
This accolade comes thanks to TripAdvisor reviews and rankings from World50beaches, used by Fastest Payout Casinos to compile a list of the continent's 15 cleanest stretches of seaside.
The study found that Blackpool Sands with its crystal-clear waters and serene atmosphere, is beloved by visitors for its cleanliness, with one in four TripAdvisor reviews mentioning this.
One wrote: "A gorgeous clean beach to relax on. The staff running it were really lovely and welcoming both in the car park and the cafe. Nice clean toilets that had classical music piped in (first time for me!). The beach and the cafe are a short walk from the carpark which is great if you have mobility issues."
Blackpool Sands is 4 miles from Dartmouth Town centre - 12 minutes drive. And now with a fabulous new cafe / lounge / restaurant.
📍 HMS Cicala
Next up in our series is HMS Cicala. Discover a piece of wartime history at the Royal Dart Hotel in Kingswear!
During WWII, this historic building became HMS Cicala, the headquarters of the British 15th Destroyer Flotilla. From here, brave sailors embarked on secret missions to the beaches of Brittany, supporting the French Resistance and rescuing allied soldiers and airmen.
More than 100 sailors crewed daring operations from this very spot, making it a key part of espionage activities.

📍 St Petrox
Recorded in deeds dating back to 1192 as the “Monastery of St Peter”, our next Dartmouth Landmark, St Petrox is the oldest parish church in Dartmouth. With it’s picturesque location at Dartmouth Castle it’s still a very popular choice for those getting married in Dartmouth.
The building has limited electric lighting and heating, so it is mainly used during the summer months. From Easter to September, Sung Evensong using the Book of Common Prayer is held each Sunday at 6:30 pm.

What do YOU love about Dartmouth?
📍 Kingswear Castle
Standing at the water’s edge with Dartmouth in the background, Kingswear Castle appears to grow out of the rocks.
Completed in 1502 to support Dartmouth Castle on the opposite side of the river, it was one of the first purpose-built artillery forts in Britain.
Another integral to our town’s rich military history.
