But when we first started our photography journey, shooting antiques for our Etsy store, we bought some proper useless tat, believing it would help! Needless to say, it didn't.

🔍 Often, getting the best photograph of a product is about attention to tiny details. 🔎

At first glance, these photos may look identical, but if you look particularly at the lace in the left hand shot, you'll see the detail is much clearer. This isn't about focus, camera shake or the camera we used. Both were shot using a smartphone, on exactly the same settings. This difference comes from our old favourite - lighting! 💡💡

The image on the left was shot with HARD light, so the texture in both fabrics looks much more attractive. Hard lighting isn't right for every product, but for showing the fine details of a texture, it wins hands-down. 👏
