Happy holiday makers in Turkey
We’ve spent the last few weeks working on all things Halloween.
What do you think?!
Dancing Skeletons!
Uttoxeter Town Hall Saturday for their indoor market, one of our favourites. There’s also an outdoor market on the High street. Great stalls and music too! Come and check it out!
We have some lovely new stock too!
Today we unveil our latest creation. After a lot of planning designing and making we present Piazza Gino! It has taken many days to complete but we feel it’s our best piece to date. Everything has been handmade except the lamp post, flowers and tree. The umbrella had me nearly sobbing and took 4 attempts !! I now own a tiny coolie hat, a tiny cone one and two weird striped ones. Please don’t talk to John about balcony railings, he had to lie down for half an hour after getting his head around them. We really suffer for our art😁
Absolutely love this piece of driftwood! I have been looking at it for a few weeks wondering how to use it to its best advantage!
I am really pleased with this piece.
We have been phenomenally busy the last few weeks working to double our stock as ‘one silly old duffer’ screwed up the craft show bookings!
Me!
This means we are at Findern summer fair tomorrow and Little Eaton Carnival! They are both favourite venues so couldn’t cancel either.
So for all your driftwood needs you know where to find us!!
I’m calling this one Mellow Yellow!
Really enjoyed putting the details on this one.
It was decided last week that Jollywood needed a ‘ Production meeting’! To discuss the upcoming craft fairs, targets, new ideas and supplies.
It was scheduled for 8.30 this morning.
It is 9.20 now.
I have arrived in my paint splattered top and trousers, hair on end and no bra!
John is still in the shower and sends his apologies.
Thank goodness we work from home!!
If there had been a promise of cake, biscuits and or sandwiches at the meeting we would have been on time!😁
In case you hadn’t heard, the Euro’s are on!?
Come on England!!!
Here comes the fleet!
After a few days hard work, here is The Waterfront!
It is off to Weave Knit It in Cromford Mills today along with some more nice pieces.
We have come back from holiday with loads of new ideas!
Can’t wait to get started on my bathing belles!
Watch this space……….!
Treasured Island! Available in Weave Knit It at Cromford mills along with other select pieces!
Bridgertown!
What do you think!?
Some new pieces that we will have on Sunday at Cromford Mill! The weather is actually looking better thank goodness!
Met a lovely lady called Sarah yesterday, whos shop is called Weave Knit It at Cromford Mills. I always have a good browse in there when we are doing the craft fair. It is a lovely shop full of colour, interest and displays of other talented artisans work. Luckily she had shelf space for us to showcase a selection of our wares, pop in and have a look.
This is the first outdoor piece we have done for a number of years.
The lovely iridescent fish are larger than normal and the height of the piece is 8”.
The fish and base are exterior varnished.
The piece of driftwood came from North Wales so any suggestions for a name?!
Bakewell today, Ilkeston next Sunday.
A circus of puffins!
Where can we get some driftwood from, we are running short of suitable pieces?
Where is reasonably close with good road access?
Can we combine it with a short break?
North Wales!
We set off for Colwyn Bay on Tuesday morning which is close to Conway where we had a successful trip last year.
The weather was cloudy but quite warm.
Hit the beach around mid day. Nothing!
Morfa beach - nothing.
The Beacons - very little.
Abergele - nothing!
It was looking like a trip to Anglesey on Wednesday .
Slightly disappointed, we then had a fabulous Italian meal at Virgiliosa that evening which certainly lifted the spirits (in both senses!)
After a chat with our lovely landlady at Bryan Woodlands (great guest house with tasty breakfasts) she recommended Llanddulas beach just down the road!
Initially nothing, but then………..!
Mission accomplished.
Off to The Toad (with great sea views) for early doors fish and chips - marvellous!
Home Johnny boy for some driftwood washing and sorting!
After a hectic few days, I decided I needed to sit and relax to explore an idea I’d had about a surfboard!
One thing lead to another and I found myself scrabbling in my box of interesting bits of wood.
Every home should have one - or is that just me?!
I had the surf board piece from way back.
We had actually found it on the beach in Bude, not obvious driftwood but worthy of collecting!
Here is the result I’m rather pleased with it!
Continuing the nautical theme we have one of our fishing boats mounted on driftwood.
We have a number of different coloured boats in stock but this one is mounted on a piece that resembles a seascape.
Believe me these pieces are not easy to find!
Starting today we are featuring one of our popular nautical items.
We call it Knots Landing!
The jetty and the houses are hand built, painted and/or varnished
Most of the accessories have been repurposed. Spot the necklace chain and the fishing nets!
We have made a number of these , but each one has its own unique features. See our harbour section.
We enjoy coming up with names for the stores.
A particular favourite was Usain Boats!
Well! What a busy week we’ve had!
Five days in New York followed by my birthday and today we are launching our brand new Web site for Jollywood Home Art! The site has been created by my beautiful and talented daughter Lucy who is a whizz at this sort of thing!
The website is called jollywoodhomeart.com.
She has also set up an instagram account for both me and Jollywood.
Obviously as I am an old duffer you will have to be patient until I get my head around it all! I am meeting up with a good friend this week who I am sure will give me tips on how to use Instagram!
The web site shows all 105 items we have in stock.
Painted items can be ordered in your choice of colours, the wooden bases are selected to suit the product.
Please take a look or come and see us at the Dale club Jacksdale on this Sunday 12 - 5!

Just off to our first craft fair this year!
Excited but strangely nervous.
It’s at Uttoxeter town hall no less! 9 - 3, hence the early start!
Anyone who knows or follows us we would love to see you.
We have lots of new things, including this piece -
Just finished this little beauty!
We are struggling to come up with a suitable name for it?
My grandson Layton suggested Olden Towers, which I rather like. Any other ideas?
An unplanned mini break to our favourite destination, to see the gorgeous Hambley family! John ‘shopping’ at the driftwood ‘shop’!
