Simon's Garden Shed
Available for regular & one off garden maintenance. No job too small.
I’m getting lots of enquiries, which is nice, but I can’t take on any more appointments at the moment. My diary is full until further notice, thanks.
Looks like a beautiful weekend ahead and the sun has come out at just the right time to get it started ☀️
A bit of notice for this weekend. Tomorrow is the first of the AFC Chellaston annual football tournaments and they will be played on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. If you haven't been before they truly are an amazing spectacle and it is wonderful to see the park so vibrant with so many happy faces. Hundreds of children will play across the weekend.
This set of tournaments are the U11 and U12 mixed respectively and will be in action appropriately 9am-3:30pm. The park will be very busy in these times, we are still open and welcome everyone but please be aware that service could slow down at times. There will also be an AFC Chellaston run bbq operating throughout the day.
Looking forward to a lovely weekend and hopefully seeing lots of you across the 3 days. You will notice a patio reconfiguration underway, it will add some seating in time and create a bit more room for everyone to enjoy the sun.
One of the many gardens I look after. The photo doesn’t do it justice because of the rain but the foxgloves look amazing as do the geums at the front. The latter were planted but the former planted themselves, albeit have been thinned out a lot. Sometimes gardening is curating rather than controlling. The client is very happy & that’s what matters.
First butterfly of the year yesterday
Gardening as a job is differently paced to doing it as a pastime but I had to take a moment to pause & look at these beauties. Hard work paying off! In other news I was also attacked by a tortoise - I’m not even joking. Glad I had my steel toe caps on 😂
We’ve all been there!
Card of the day 😂😍
Wanted. Groundsperson
We have created an opportunity for a Groundsperson at Chellaston Park. The role will cover basic groundwork such as seeding, watering and roping off areas for repair, as well as weekly line marking. There is also the opportunity for further venue maintenance depending on the candidates.
The role is relatively flexible but the line marking would be weekly and the grass is generally cut later in the week so a Friday daytime would be ideal.
All training will be given but there will also be the opportunity to attend various FA led courses for groundkeepers.
Get in touch for more information and share to friends or relatives that might be interested.
From Regents Park yesterday, two very different approaches with lawns filled with daisies to the formal carpet bedding with tulips stars of the show. Both very beautiful in their own ways
Happy Easter!
Speaking of appointments I’m currently not looking to take on any more regular jobs at the moment, my diary is currently full. Thanks
First day of regular appointments & it’s rained 😣
Back by popular demand! These will be available to order and will be popping up on the stall at upcoming events!
Seems early but we have tadpoles at Shed Towers
I bought these beauties autumn 22, didn’t have time to plant them so stuck them in this pallet wood trough that was on its way out at the very last minute. Still not got around to planting them in the garden & they’ve sat in the yard completely neglected & here they are again 😊
Happy Weekend

Planting bulbs is the easiest way of creating a succession of flowers. The snowdrops are finishing & are replaced by daffodils & crocus.
First spawn of the year at Shed Towers
My talented friend
Another day, another gate & another happy customer. 😊
Something a bit different...
Suddenly spiky things don’t seem so bad!
Milford Haven: Garden ornament turns out to be live bomb Sian and Jeffrey Edwards had always assumed the 64lb projectile in their garden was a "dummy".
